Really happy with the artwork and overrall covers for my forthcoming EP: Dreaming Awake - acoustic sessions Despite the acoustic and stripped back nature of the tracks, a lot of work has gone in to their production, trying to capture a certain sound and feel. Good work by @danswanwick_music to achieve this. And so, the tracks are worthy of some fitting artwork on the cover of what will be CD's to begin with, digital release on all platforms but maybe even vinyl at a later date. I'm hoping these tracks go towards a full album that are layered with instrumentation and arrangement, in the future. My debut Bad Company album post, and I’ve gone for ‘Run with the Pack’, their third released 1976. As you know I’m a massive fan of Hipgnosis, and yet here is the only Bad Company album not to feature their work. -I wanted to be an artist The music industry is notoriously competitive, and in the 60s it was no exception. Young Jimmy fell in love with the guitar when he was a boy, spending a lot of his days practicing, listening to blues, folk, skiffle and rock. 🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎼🎼🎶🎶 His passion for various music genres helped the future Zeppelin star to become familiar with different sounds and to translate them into his playing. Jimmy joined Neil Christian and The Crusaders in the early 60s, but after two years with the band, he had to quit as he often got fever while on the road. Instead, he put his efforts on painting - another Jimmy’s great passion -, and he enrolled at Sutton Art College. The musical path seemed to vanish, but Jimmy still couldn’t know what the universe had in store for him. Loving the guitar, he kept playing at the Marquee Club in London on Thursday evenings. One night, he was invited to play sessions by producer Mike Leander of Decca. Jimmy was extremely surprised, as he thought that circle was “a close shop”. His very first recording was “Diamonds” by Jet Harris, which hit N.1 in the UK. He was just 19. Appreciated for his unique style and versatility, this enfant prodige soon became the most in-demand guitarist of the whole session circuit. His studio involvement immensely contributed to learn what worked and what didn’t work. Jimmy had the chance to discover about microphone placements, to chat with engineers about effects, and even to understand sound deflection for the drums. This experience was also crucial for his work ethic: “You had to be absolutely precise and you had to be able to deliver all the time. If you hadn’t you wouldn’t be seen again.” With an average of fifteen a week, Jimmy played on so many sessions he can’t remember exactly how many they were.
