Si tratta di un lussureggiante giardino chiamato Bell Gardia,nella Prefettura di Iwate, in cui si trova una cabina telefonica e al suo interno un telefono senza collegamento alcuno. È un luogo carico di suggestioni che ispira pace e serenità, battuto dal vento che arriva dal mare. E con il vento arrivano tante persone. Una processione silenziosa e raccolta di chi ha subito un lutto e si presenta con il suo carico di dolore, di domande senza risposta, di cose non dette e di sentimenti che non hanno più voce. Accettare una perdita é un processo lungo e doloroso. Il distacco è difficile da sostenere con la vita che prosegue inesorabile insieme all'incapacità di andarle incontro e di stare al passo. Quel telefono potrebbe mitigare la distanza, creare un collegamento che può aiutare a lasciar andare chi non c'è più o a sentirlo più vicino. Lasciar uscire parole che appesantiscono il cuore e affidare al vento le proprie emozioni. A volte si può aver bisogno di un simbolo tangibile, di un luogo reale per superare un dolore che non ha forma ma solo un peso che strazia l'anima. È quel che succede a Yui, una giovane donna che nel marzo del 2011 ha perso la madre e la figlia quando lo tzunami ha sommerso la sua città, distruggendo tutto ciò che ha incontrato lungo il suo cammino, strappandole affetti e pezzi di sé, togliendole ogni desiderio di vita. Qui incontra Takeshi che, da quando ha perso la moglie, sua figlia non parla più. Tante altre persone incrociano la loro strada, condividendo confidenze e pensieri. Ho ritrovato una narrazione lenta e delicata, un'attenzione ai sentimenti e a misurare le parole che ho già avuto modo di apprezzare in altri romanzi dell'autrice. "The people who can destroy a thing, they control it." So I guess what I'll say about this stories and series is that I'm trying. I found it ridiculously challenging to orient myself to the setting, political atmosphere, and timeline of the book. The timeline may have been easier to track physically reading the book, but I believe the other two aspects are so challenging simply because of the way the book was written. I started to get invested in the story towards the end, when I started to gain a little more understanding of the intentions behind certain movements and attacks, but I still have so many questions related to the relationship between the Baron and Emperor, the Baron and the Duke, the Duke and the Emperor. I fail to see how making these relationships more clear would detract from the storyline, but I can 100% say I would understand the underlying story much more if it was more clear. From the very first pages, I found myself fully immersed in the rural villages and forests of Tamil Nadu, watching events unfold through the eyes of everyday people whose lives are turned upside down by the sudden arrival of a man-eating tiger. From the preface and foreword, you get a sense that this is someone with a deep love and knowledge of that region's culture, customs, and natural surroundings. K A Balamurugan hails from the Ariyalur district himself, and his goal is clearly to honor and preserve that unique way of life through his vivid storytelling. This book grabbed me right away with its exciting premise drawn from true events - a tiger strays from the Tiger Reserve into human-occupied areas and starts preying on livestock and eventually people. Finished Book # 23 of 2024. The Letters We Keep By Nisha Sharma @nishawrites 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I binge this one over the last 3 days cause I was so easy to read and kept me hooked. First, I chose this as my free Kindle FirstRead for the month of April, and I am glad I did. This was so wonderful! I read some reviews before, one of which said it was cliché and predictable. So what?! It was captivating and kept me hooked. Isn't that all that matters? Ravi and Jessie are a heartwarming couple and they make you wanna cheer for them. Ms. Sharma wrote a gentleman in Ravi and not a cliché 3rd year rich boy turned softy. He's good hearted (rich boy) and prejudged from the get go. Jessie is an awkward College Freshman, basically broke, and highly relatable. She is outspoken when necessary but sometimes to a fault, while at the same time a little insecure. Which is how real people are sometimes. I loved the mystery rhey decide to solve together and the slight twist involved in it by the end. I didn't suspect it until the last few chapters. I would rate this a 🌶🌶🌶 point 5 on the spicy scale, mainly because I wouldn't specifically recommend to family just cause.....well, I don't recommend spicy books to family. It's just how I am. But their childhood was not what people thought. Miss Fairchild was unpredictable and took disciplinary measures too far. The three managed to break free from her home, but not without a significant cost to each of them. Now decades later a body has been discovered under the home and the foster sisters are witnesses- and suspects. Other thoughts: Hepworth’s are sometimes hit or miss for me but this one was overall a win! My biggest gripe was that I felt like fostercare stereotypes were played into several times (or maybe I am overthinking it as a foster mom). • Shutter Bug • four 1/2 stars | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Mason and Bowie bring the tension from the beginning, spice, piercings🤭 banter, emotions and lots of swoony moments. From the beginning I was hooked on both of these characters individually but then when they met they couldn’t get together soon enough for me. I was loving them. They were both equally obsessed with each other. Mason claims he is straight but meeting Bowie has him feeling things he never has before. Bowie had a bad breakup and he has sworn off relationships but something about Mason has him feeling some type of way. Loved watching the both grow throughout their story, finding their happiness and what love truly is. I really loved all the secondary characters. finally jumped on the Colleen Hoover bandwagon! I'm not much for romance books usually (sucker for plot twists and thriller) but this book was actually great! burned through it soo quickly, and loved the meaning behind the name, and whole story in general, being much deeper than u expected and dealing with really tough themes rather than being a plain romance (though, don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the romance parts as well😍) would definitely recommend, and can't wait for the movie to come out! got a massive reading list atm but the prequel, "it starts with us", is definitely on it - will update once I get through that one as well ☺️

This is more of a slow burn, but I did enjoy Stevens’ drive through the English countryside and the pit stops he made along the way. I felt like it was the perfect backdrop for the contemplative mood of this novel. The ending broke my heart a little bit 🥹, but Stevens’ optimism is truly remarkable and his resilience is something to be applauded. April is National Poetry Month. In honor of that I’m going to post a poem and the collection it’s from each Friday. The poets were randomly chosen by yours truly. This Friday’s poem is an “C’etsesen” by John Elvis Smelcer from the anthology Poems from the Edge of Extinction: An Anthology of Poetry in Endangered Languages (Chambers 2019). One language is falling silent every two weeks. Half othe 7,000 languages spoken in the world today will be lost by the end of this century. With the loss of these languages, we also lose the unique poetic traditions of their speakers and writers. . “C’etsesen” is written here in it’s original language Ahtna. With four distinct regional dialects, Ahtna is one of nineteen indigenous languages of Alaska. It had no written form until only a few decades ago. The language is so endangered that Smelcer, who is 30 years younger than the next fluent speaker, will undoutedly be the last speaker of the language in the near future. In 1980, there were about 120 speakers of Ahtna and twenty years later there were fewer than 50 speakers left. Only about a dozen fluent speakers remain. The mythology of the Ahtna people claims that the language was given to them by a raven, and the raven figures in many of the stories and myths of the Ahtna people tell. .
