Aquel día que amanecimos con el río congelado a 4000m de altitud recien pasada la frontera de Tayikistán andamos 20km por las inhóspitas carreteras del Pamir antes de que Gafur parara con su camión y nos invitara a subir. Con él pasamos a orillas del lago Karakul y del pueblo del mismo nombre. El lago Karakul que está a 3900m fue formado por el impacto de un meteorito hace 5 millones de años y el agua que contiene ahora es ligeramente salada. En invierno cuando las temperaturas bajan a -50grados se congela. Pasamos también por el paso de Ak-Baital a 4655m, el punto más alto de todo el Pamir (y el más alto por el que pasamos en este viaje por los stanes). Another special lake on the Pamir Highway 🇹🇯 • Cycling around the Kara-Kul (black lake in Tajik) was one of the M41 highlight. Mineral and wild. No trees, no grass, no flowers here. • This lake rises to an altitude of 3900 m and. Kara-kul lies within a circular depression, from an impact crater with a diameter of 52km. It’s really impressive to ride a bike in it! 10/08/23 - 13/08/23 🇫🇷 À 3900 mètres d'altitude, quelques dizaines de kilomètres avant la frontière kirghize, l'immense lac Karakul apparaît comme un mirage au pied des sommets enneigés. Au bord du lac, le petit village du même nom semble presque abandonné, mais on peut y trouver deux ou trois guesthouses et même une (très) petite épicerie. Je dois y passer deux jours, à attendre un sac avec quelques affaires à moi. En effet, quand je me suis engagé sur la route du Pamir, la frontière entre le Tadjikistan et le Kirghizistan était officiellement fermée. J'avais donc prévu de faire une boucle et retourner à Douchanbé, puis repasser par l'Ouzbékistan pour aller au Kirghizistan. J'avais donc laissé quelques affaires à Douchanbé pour être un peu moins chargé dans le Pamir. Mais en chemin, j'ai appris que la frontière venait de réouvrir, permettant de continuer la route du Pamir jusqu'au Kirghizistan. J'ai donc fait en sorte de trouver quelqu'un qui puisse m'apporter mes affaires depuis Douchanbé sur la route du Pamir. La voiture avec mon sac est arrivé deux jours plus tard que prévu, d'où mon arrêt forcé à Karakul, mais je ne m'y suis pas ennuyé car j'y ai rencontré beaucoup d'autres voyageurs. Xinjiang 12 years ago, ini kali pertama saya menjelajah Xinjiang hingga perbatasan Pakistan dan Afganistan, persis 1 tahun setelah tragedi kerusuhan di sana. Turun dari pesawat sedikit kuatir karena tidak ada muka suku Han seorangpun. Saya naik angkot dari depan bandara menuju guesthouse. Guesthousenya berada di dalam gang. Begitu saya jalan masuk ke dalam gang banyak mata mengikutinya. Setelah selesai registrasi di Guesthouse, saya ditempatkan di dalam sebuah kamar berlantai tanah dengan 4 buah ranjang tingkat, artinya saya sekamar dengan 7 turis asing manca negara lainnya. Petugas di Guesthouse menyarankan saya membeli sebuah topi khas suku Uyghur, menurut mereka muka saya agak cubby, dengan topi itu sekilas mirip lokal. Saya pun mengikutinya, dan benar adanya ke mana-mana saya berbaur dengan orang lokal dan merasa sangat aman. Today’s Xinjiang highlights. Muztagh Ata (ice father) with stunning glaciers flowing down the sides. It is reflected in Karakul Lake. Tashgurkan is the last large town before leaving China. Its population is mostly Tajiks and you can see the remains of a stone fort that stood thousands of years ago. The ruins overlook the marshland. Karakul Lake, The Pamirs, Tajikistan 🇹🇯 — Ismatolo One might think I took this picture in Kyrgyzstan since this cute boy wears an Ak-kalpak hat — a typical Kyrgyz hat, yet it was taken in Tajikistan close to the Kyrgyz border. At an elevation of 4000 meters lies a small village on the shore of lake Karakul, surprisingly called Karakul, where a small community of Kyrgyz people live a nomadic lifestyle of herding yaks, sheep and goats. When you get there you might feel like the time stood still. When I arrived there at the beginning of the spring the lake was still frozen from a harsh winter in which the temperature can easily drop to negative 30°C. While walking along the shore a curious boy was following me, Ismatolo his name, watching me pelting pieces of ice and stones to check how strong the ice layer covering the lake. Seems like Ismatolo has just found a new game and he was ceaselessly doing the same together with his friend. 04.07.2022, Karakul lake (3 914 m), Tajikistan. The highest part of Pamir highway is adorned with the Karakul Lake. Located at an altitude of 3914 m its name is translated as “The Black Lake”. Pamir highway lies several hundred meters from the shores of this natural sight, and one can enjoy the view of the lake for 40 km. There is also a village with the same name, Karakul, that stands out with its severe view. The Karakul Lake has an area of 380 square km it stretches for 33 km from north to south, and 24 km from east to west. A big island is located in the middle of it dividing Karakul to two parts: eastern part has depth for 22 meters, and differs with smooth descent to waters; its western part is more abrupt and the depth goes down to 236meters. Even though this drainless lake is supplied with neighboring mountain glaciers, water in Karakul is salty. In summer, water temperature reaches 12 degrees Celsius, and in winter, it goes down to zero and the lake is covered with 1 meter thick ice. Beauty of the Karakul Lake is not only about its bright blue color, but also picturesque landscape of snow-capped peaks of Pamir reflected in waters. There is a row of seven thousanders around the lake; Peaks of Lenin and Avicenna are the ones to outstand. Moreover, due to the big height, sky seems closer and is deep in color. Za starych, dobrych czasów Pamircy mieli prąd i ową Pamir Highway. Kiedy jednak Tadżykistan i Kirgistan przestały być częścią ZSRR, po prądzie został jedynie ślad w postacie słupów. Autostrada zaczęła przypominać drogę między Jastrowcem a Lipą (tak, wiem że pojęcia nie macie nawet gdzie to jest… w tym rzecz!). Pomyślcie zatem o jakiś wsiach daleko od wszystkiego. Tak wyglada Highway w Pamirze. Czasami przejedzie tamtędy auto. Może z raz, może ze dwa razy dziennie. Czasami pojawi się jakiś turysta na motocyklu, czasami w terenowym aucie. Ci nawet pomachają. Raz dostaliśmy nawet śliwkę i słowa: „a to wy jesteście tymi Polkami którzy idą przez Pamir pieszo?!”. Nie wiem co bardziej cieszyło i dodało kopa… śliwka chyba jednak. dzięki niej dotarliśmy nad jezioro Kara-Kul którego lustro znajduje się na 3914 m n.p.m. Słone, lazurowe i Absolutnie zjawiskowe. Tag 723 – Wir radeln völlig unerwartet auf dem Pamir Wir setzen alle Hoffnung auf Shamburat, dem Besitzer von einem Guesthouse in Sary Tash. Er fährt uns zur Grenze hoch entlang traumhafter Berglandschaften und Yakherden. Wir werden immer nervöser und irgendwann erreichen wir die abgelegene tadschikische Grenze auf dem Kyzylart Pass. Eigentlich dürfen wir nicht rein, doch dank Shamburats Verhandlungsgeschick und Sprachkenntnissen geht es dann irgendwann doch und wir passieren als erste seit zwei Jahren die Grenze in diese Richtung und befinden uns nun plötzlich auf dem Pamir Highway, dem Dach der Welt. Vor lauter Nervosität und Unsicherheit haben wir uns noch gar nicht wirklich mit der Möglichkeit befasst, dass wir tatsächlich den Pamir fahren würden und plötzlich waren wir da auf 4200 Metern über Meer und umgeben von einer Landschaft, die uns wortwörtlich zuerst Mal den Atem raubte. Wir sind wirklich hier, es fühlt sich noch so surreal an. ——————————————————————————————- Day 723 - We cycle completely unexpected on the Pamir Highway We put all our hopes on Shamburat, the owner of a guesthouse in Sary Tash. He drives us up to the border along beautiful mountain landscapes and herds of yaks. We are getting more and more nervous and eventually we reach the remote Tajik border on the Kyzylart Pass. Initially, we’re not allowed to cross the border, but thanks to Shamburat's negotiating and language skills it eventually works out and we’re the first to cross the border in this direction in two years and now suddenly find ourselves on the Pamir Highway, the roof of the world. Because of all the anxiety and insecurity before crossing into Tajikistan, we didn't really think about the possibility that we would really cycle along the Pamir Highway and suddenly we were there on 4200 meters above sea level and surrounded by a landscape that literally took our breath away for the first time. Hace unos días concluimos nuestra primera vuelta por el #pamir. La ruta que seguimos desde #khorog fue siguiendo la M41 en dirección a #karakul. En el trayecto hicimos tres puertos de montaña de más de 4.000m. Una vez en #karakullake retrocedemos para iniciar el descenso a #khorog por el #bartangvalley, una experiencia durísima por lo inaccesible y el viento de cara continuado. Hace dos días iniciamos una nueva vuelta por el #pamir.
