🇧🇦 Día 14 Bosnia Herzegovina: de Mostar a Hutovo (Čiro Trail) Hoy recorro el sendero Ćiro , un sendero de 142 km que sigue la ruta de un ferrocarril de vía estrecha construido en 1903 y que se abandono en 1976. Salir de Mostar fue un poco angustioso, ya que la ruta toma algunas carreteras principales para salir de la ciudad y, nuevamente, pero una vez que salí de Mostar, la ruta saltó rápidamente a carreteras secundarias que tenían muy poco tráfico y atravesando el pintoresco cañón del río Neretva. Ya en Dračevo, la ruta se convierte más bien en un camino de grava solo para bicicletas atravesando por antiguos túneles y puentes de la época del ferrocarril. Los túneles no tenian luces y estaban llenos de murciélagos, pero fue agradable ver todos los túneles excavados a mano. El paisaje a través de las montañas era impresionante. La tarde va cayendo y decido montar la tienda de campaña junto a un pantano cerca de Hutovo, y para sorpresa mía de llegar al lugar y encontrarme acampados a una pareja de franceses que también estaban haciendo cicloturismo por Bosnia y terminaré la tarde con compañía. One of my favorite riding days started in a lunar landscape of black volcanic rock at 1700m altitude, led through golden desert valleys and ended in a Wild-West-like scenery. It seems crazy to me that it's already been 2 months since I flew back to the UK from Türkiye, after 9 months being on the road 🚲 I knew it would be tough to adjust back to regular life, but I have found it harder than expected and I've had many low moments since being home. I really miss the every day life of being outside and the little routines, being looked at with wonder and (mostly) bewilderment by the locals. Hunting down drinking water and places to sleep. Every day being an adventure and no two days were the same. Fortunately with lots of very fond memories to look back on, plenty of pictures and new friends and a community to call on. There's excitimemt of planning more trips! Here's just a few snapshots to remind myself of my travels, and this isn't even including Türkiye and all the cats, dogs and people I met along the way. Will need to do extra posts just for them! 🙀

Hagi to Tsuwano March 2020 ⛰️🐱 Heading into the mountains, we were ready for a punishing day. Loaded with snacks we set out from the coastal town of Hagi in Yamaguchi prefecture, to Tsuwano in neighbouring Shimane. We stopped for lunch at a cat temple along the way, and to our amusement (and slight unease) all the cat statues had handmade cloth masks on. Every single one. What strange times. Heading on, we started to pass through the tunnels in the hillsides. We were very happy to find that the large ones all had separate walkways that we could cycle along instead of on the road. Phew! Before we knew it we going down down down and arrived in Tsuwano, very much ahead of schedule. Farewell to Pokhara So, no Mardi Himal. I'll definitely return to Pokhara for Mardi Himal and the Annapurna Circuit in the near future, but the season wasn't right. Pokhara Airport has been closed for the past two days due to the haze. The air quality is so bad, it’s like being in Chiang Mai. Therefore, I've ditched all my plans and will head south tomorrow. Yes, India is experiencing an extreme heatwave right now. I’ve done it before, cycling through 42-degree Celsius heat from Phrao to Chiang Mai and suffered from heat exhaustion (I passed out for two hours in a police checkpoint hut), so I know when to stop. But Leaving a place after a while is hard. Pokhara has been the longest stopover during this trip, almost a month. By now, I know which restaurant serves the best Chinese, Korean, and Japanese food in town, and which bakery offers the best value. The locals and shopkeepers even recognize me lately—it feels like home. But it's time to leave. •Séville-Tanger• Voilà deux semaines jour pour jour que je suis parti de la côte Basque. Je voulais atteindre l’Afrique et fêter dignement les 50 ans de ma fidèle @cyclesalexsinger , c’est chose faite. 2200km sur lesquels je reviendrai bientôt dans un reportage photo complet et détaillé pour @bikequarterly . Même si la raison veut que je rentre en France, je n’ai pas pu m’empêcher de regarder des itinéraires plus au sud et à rêver d’Afrique équatoriale. L’appétit vient en mangeant et quitter l’ambiance morose de l’hexagone m’a donné sacrément faim. Baja Tour Day 15: While we spent 4 days in the oasis of San Ignacio waiting for the Baja 1000 to pass, we met a man who was watching the races and invited us to have dinner with him family in San Bruno, so that was our obvious next destination. We met the Gulf for the 3rd time and slept in a basket ball court after asking a few govt employees for permission. The man found us in a convenience store after getting a call from a friend about wandering cyclists rolling through town. He brought us to his house, fed us, and told us stories about his championship boxing career. One of the highlights of this trip, hands down. #baja

Camping - fire 🔥 We advance peacefully following the valleys and love this new country which delights us with the kindness of its people but also with the absolutely extraordinary cycle paths. This changes us from the other countries we have crossed. The only small problem is refueling. We buy a lot of food in the towns, and cook and camp between them. We also were lucky to use the @warmshowers_org community to find a free room and new friends in small villages. We also cross a lot of other great cyclists and its so nice to exchange info and talk about our respective travels. ____ Kamp - ateş 🔥 Vadileri takip ederek huzur içinde ilerliyoruz ve insanlarının nezaketinin yanı sıra olağanüstü bisiklet yollarıyla da bizi mutlu eden bu yeni ülkeyi seviyoruz. Bu bizi geçtiğimiz diğer ülkelerden farklı kılıyor. Tek küçük sorun yakıt ikmali. Kasabalardan bol miktarda yiyecek alıyoruz, aralarında yemek pişiriyor ve kamp kuruyoruz.
