There are people that see rainbows as an artistic masterpiece in the sky, to others it is a sign of hope and to many a sign of promise. It can be all three; beauty, hope and promise. A spectrum of light in the form of a multicolored arc, appearing in the sky, is caused by both reflection and refraction of light in water droplets in the Earth’s atmosphere. These rainbows always appear directly opposite of the sun. “Jesus didn’t come to change God’s mind about us. Jesus came to change our minds about God.” Richard Rohr, Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi God genuinely loves each and every one of us so much that He created a plan for our salvation. Allow that thought to sink in. That is immense unconditional love that we as humans are incapable of fully understanding. Jesus Christ loves each and every one of us also unconditionally that he sacrificed His life to take on all our afflictions and sins in order lessen our own suffering and give us eternal life beyond mortal life. Our love for others can also be unconditional, we have two incredible examples of how to do that. We are capable of loving one another.

Luke 5:29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. Luke 5:30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? According to the letter of the law and the Pharisees, Jesus is eating and associating with people he isn’t supposed to eat and associate with. Jesus Christ is FOR everyone. We can be FOR everyone as well.
These two verses spoke volumes to me and testified to me personally. How do these scripture verses make you feel when you read and ponder them, applying them to your own life?
Have you had an opportunity to listen to this week’s episode of Latter-Day Contemplation on Spiritual Autonomy and Responsibly? This particular episode brought me to tears as I recounted the moment I needed to make a choice, learn about Jesus myself or continue to rely on others to teach me. If I continued to rely on everyone else around me for gospel truths and lessons, then I could have easily walked away and left because my testimony was not Christ focused, it was celestial focused. I eventually realized that living the gospel became more important to me when I put my relationship with Christ first. Diligently taking the time to study everything about Jesus gave me a better understanding of Christ’s gospel. That following Christ’s example in love and compassion for others is what made my testimony stronger instead of trying to exhaust myself to live up to the letter of the law expectations of me within church. Throughout the scriptures, it is recorded that our Savior communed with our Father in Heaven often, drawing strength from Him in the wilderness (Matthew 4; Luke 4-5), to practice self care and meditate, emptying Himself of desire for power and entitlement in order to continue being filled and fed with the power of the Holy Spirit and humility to heal and minister to the poor, sick, suffering, and lowly in spirit. To those who needed Him the most. We are taught to come, and follow Him. Christ has given us example after example to commune with our Heavenly Father, practice self care and meditate on His words in order to request the strength of the Holy Ghost and humility to give love and compassion to the poor, sick, suffering, and the lowly in spirit.
