We're happy to report on the progress of several shipments! Last week, one of our partners in the US received three pallets of booklets, which will eventually be sent to Kenya. This shipment includes many booklets printed in Kenyan tribal languages, and we're excited to reach those tribes with God's Word! Another pallet arrived in Canada and will be on its way to the Philippines soon. The 20-foot container that we sent to Cameroon has reached the port and been discharged into customs, and the 40-foot container we sent to Malawi also entered customs. Praise the Lord for His protection of these containers! Will you continue to pray for all of these shipments as they continue their journeys?
Meet Micah! He enjoys being creative, and his career goal is to become the best actor and screenwriter he can be. Micah has found it challenging to secure a job, so he's participating in Goodwill's job skills training program to acquire skills he can use for employment. Micah has been working hard, and his advice for others struggling to find a job is, "When looking for jobs, persistence is key. Not every job will tell you know." #MissionMonday I am on a mission to humanize people who may be in the spotlight. About four years ago, I experienced some unfair treatment and when I expressed how it impacted me, the person said, “Tasha, you’re so accomplished, and wow, I often forget you’re human with feelings too…” Recently, former Miss USA, Cheslie Kryst’s mother released her book, essentially her journal of all of her challenges behind the scenes leading her to jump off a NYC skyscraper… As I geared up for The Global Beauty Awards last night, I reflected on my own journey in the spotlight: 🏆 2018, right after my mental health break and suicide attempt, I made history as the first Black recipient of a Global Beauty Award, which felt like a crowning moment amidst my healing journey. 🏆 2022, I had three nominations, and although I didn’t win, it was still a milestone night. Despite the challenges I faced right after—becoming homeless and jobless due to a bad marriage—I stood resilient. 🏆 2024, I’m at my lightest weight in nearly 9 years, thriving and living my purpose. I didn’t win this time, but being nominated in five categories that are dear to my heart was a victory in itself! Mission Monday: Meet Maya (Madeleine) Maya, a dedicated caretaker, has been an integral part of our nonprofit organization for the past seven years. She plays a crucial role in the children’s home in Haiti, taking care of all their daily needs. Maya’s responsibilities include cooking, cleaning, and helping the children with their homework. She goes above and beyond to ensure their well-being and happiness, acting as a mother figure to them. The children look up to Maya and rely on her for guidance and support. In addition to her nurturing role, Maya also takes care of the practical aspects of running the children’s home. She handles all of the shopping at our market, and ensures the children’s health needs are met. Maya’s dedication and commitment make her an invaluable asset to our organization and the children she cares for. Maya’s main aspirations are to continue her education (college) however at this time they are put on hold due to COVID as well as the unrest. Maya has completed a few semesters and has enjoyed the experience, immensely and hopes one day to return. #missionmonday #youshopwegive #shopwithpurpose
