PSA OF THE DAY!!! 🐾🐾🐾 This poor guy had a really bad weekend … It began on Friday night with stomach issues that kept us up all night… By Saturday evening Cooper was shaking, scratching, panting, whining and having episodes where he would try to dig a hole in the furniture and into my closet. He was bright red around the eyes and muzzle so we gave him some Benadryl. He then started barking in distress so off to the ER we went… By the time we got there, it seemed like the Benedryl took effect. The vet looked him over and sent us home with no charge.. They said we did the right thing. Well we thought it would be an easier night and that we would just continue the Benedryl… We couldn’t have been more wrong as the symptoms started again and Cooper became extremely agitated now that he was home. The new goal was to get through the night and go back to the ER in the morning… None of us slept again.. for the second night in a row. We all huddled together on the basement sofa trying to do anything we could to make Cooper comfortable. In the morning I went upstairs to get ready to go back to the ER and the smell of our son’s new air freshener hit me! This was the only thing that had changed in our home environment recently. We unplugged it and aired out the upstairs… I then looked up the correlation between dog allergies and these plug in air fresheners and was convinced we had found the cause… As of tonight, it seems that the Febreeze plug in air freshener was the cause of all of poor Cooper’s symptoms and he is slowly looking and feeeling better. He probably was better by the time we got to the vet last night because he was removed from the allergen during the car ride and wait to see the vet. Long story I know… but something anyone with a pet should know. Best to stay away from those plug ins!!! They put out strong smells and chemicals into the air that cause all kinds of reactions in dogs and cats… Something more natural is a much better choice! #marianjpropertyexperts #psaoftheday

"Sharing some highlights from a successful adoption day at the @popcatsshow last weekend, where a few adorable babies found their forever homes. I had the pleasure of assisting the amazing staff from the @austinanimalcenter on Saturday. We started with 14 kitties and ended the day with the very last sweet kitty finding a loving family. One woman had her eye on marmalade all day and was relieved to see that he was still available when she returned. It was truly meant to be! I must admit, I've become quite passionate about my new volunteer role. The center is always in need of more help, especially with fostering as the shelter is full and temperatures are high. The pups are in need of love, walks, fostering, and even overnight visits. If you're interested, please consider lending a hand! It dawned on my today that I have not had a migraine in months! It’s incredible that almost two years ago the rug came out from under me with a #concussion post MVA. #concussionrecovery was a freakin roller coaster that I didn’t know when I would be able to get off. But through vestibular therapy, ocular therapy, and my amazing doctor @macconcussion I’m back to normal (as much as I can be) #postconcussionsyndrome is a wild ride and one not normally shown through mainstream media. It’s not always 2 weeks and back to normal like these pro athletes show us. Sometimes it’s years of hard work and a whole team of people. Everyone needs something to push towards. In fact, I heard it in a message today… Everyone needs a Goliath. For it will be those battles that God spends preparing you your entire life for, that will declare His Holy power. I used to be weary of saying I am applying to Harvard Medical school. 1) it’s med school and admission anywhere is an extreme feat and 2) it’s an Ivy League school and where I come from we don’t receive acceptance to places like that. Fact of the matter is I no longer care about those things. You have to declare what is yours, pray about it, give it to God, work like a mad man preparing for it, and consider it done. Defying the odds, like David did with his little stones that day, is how God’s almighty power was displayed. Because if he would have been a soldier, or a man, or had the weapons of a warrior… then people would have missed the point- God can do the impossible!! GOD prepared him for that, God armed him for that, and God delivered him and brought him to victory. God will take you down unfamiliar, painful, jacked up roads to get you where he wants you. Question is… will you answer his call, or run away because you think it’s not possible? Declare it is as done and watch the God almighty do the rest. We are gonna do it… switching to forward-facing this weekend! Isabelle turns 5 in a couple months and we kept all our kiddos rear-facing until almost 5 years old. 🤯 Did you know that it’s SO much safer to keep your kids rear-facing as long as possible? We opted for car seats that allow for rear-facing for higher weight and height limits, so even though it’s often believed that it’s okay (or even recommended) to turn your kids forward facing at 2-years old, if you can keep them rear-facing longer, then THAT is much, MUCH better! I won’t scare you with stats, but basically a broken leg is much better than the alternatives. And honestly, kids can easily sit cross-cross so it’s often not a big deal. PSA of the Day!! COVID is still a thing! Wear your masks around others. If you have ANY symptoms no matter how mild please get tested. It's fast and the discomfort is only 10 seconds. I've had a dry persistent cough for about a month. No other symptoms. No runny nose, no congestion, no fever, nothing. Doctor sent me for lab work and they did a COVID test at the lab and it was positive. So frustrating. We are one of the very very few that mask up everywhere we go and still 3 plus years later are pretty much quarantined at home. We only go out for groceries and food and for walks but we wear our masks, use hand sanitizer after any public outing. Wish I had gotten tested sooner but it is what it is. Lab said lots of people are asymptomatic and testing positive. Please stay safe and please wear masks in public. Protect those around you. 😱 🪱 This came out of the woodwork 🪵 after last evening’s horrible ⛈️ storm! So this is our third sighting of one of these creatures and we’ve just learned it is a toxic and invasive 🪱 worm and can harm pets. We saw another one about a week ago before hearing all the news 🗞️ about it. Now we know the dangers. #hammerheadworm ⚠️ Please google it! FYI (not necessarily a #HaberPA #PSAOfTheDay but still…) This morning I received email from @southwestair advising that 78k #RewardsPoints of mine were used to book travel for today at noon out of Tampa to Nashville for two people, neither of whom share my surname nor do I know (much less had authorization to access and use my rewards account). The point here is twofold: First, as was obvious to me but was confirmed by the SWA customer service rep (albeit after nearly an hour between wait and work time), they’ve been hacked so if you have a SWAir Rewards acct then be proactive, get in there and change your password now. Second, @southwestair would be wise (& considerate) to institute two-factor authentication so as to avoid shit shows like the one that happened to me this morning. Rant over. Haber O-U-T!

PSA! Unpopular opinion- Make sure you’re spraying your yard and giving your dog/outdoor pets anti-tick meds. I just found this American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis) on a toy in my bedroom! That means it tried one of the dogs and bc of the tick meds didn’t like the taste and jumped off until another opportunity to attach to something arose. I’m really not in the mood to debate this, my head is killing from all the rain, but please do whatever you can to protect yourself and your animals. When you think of self care, what comes to mind? A bath? A mani/pedi? Something else indulgent? Self care is caring for one's self, body, spirit, and mind. Going to the doctor, eating well, exercising; that's all self care. Yesterday, I went for a routine colonoscopy as my self care. I chose a double workout on Wednesday knowing I wasn't working out yesterday. I had a liquid diet Wednesday to prep for yesterday. And yesterday, I went for the procedure then got myself something to eat and rested. I DID indulge in a manicure late in the day and that IS part of self care but to me, my self care was taking the time off from work and out of my busy schedule for the preventive care medical procedure I needed. Take the time, take care of yourself and your body.
