A year ago today my purrfect wee @im_cassie_boo came into my life. 365 (366 technically because of it being a leap year) days with her has felt like a blink of an eye. She has enriched my life in ways i couldn’t imagine, she has become my whole personality and she has been my little shadow through one of the worst times in my life. To say she has been a life savour is not an exaggeration. Even now she is laying next to me in bed, happy to be my little wee floofster. My mental ill health would be a lot worse right now without her, i know the dark space i’m in would be a whole lot darker without her. It's our Gotcha Day Anniversary!! 😻 🙆♂️ 😻 Two years ago today, on April 23, 2022, I adopted the most adorable, loving, funny, loyal, sweet, affectionate little grey half-sister kittens from a shelter in Portland and drove them back to their new Forever Home with me here in Seattle. ❤️🏠 A very-bonded pair, Maggie and Emma were just 7 and 11 months old respectively at the time - please enjoy these throwback photos from their first day with me and the days that followed. 🐈💕🐈 These girls are the absolute light of my life and I adore them more than I could ever describe. Cats are often unfairly generalized as being aloof and not interested in people, but these girls are the opposite of that in every way. They're like dog-cats, waiting for me by the door, following me around from room to room, always eager to please, and play, and to give their dad a ton of love and cuddles and affection. There is no shortage of personality, each with their own distinct characteristics. Maggie is bold and brave, friendly and funny, feisty and loud! 😸 Emma is sweet and shy, calm and mellow, and fiercely loyal to her chosen human (a common trait of her Nebelung breed!). 😻 Both are extremely cuddly and affectionate, and very much love their pets, brushing, treats, playtime and meal times! My mom aka grandma reminded me that I’ve had this bundle of chaos and love for 5 years today. I truly could not be more lucky that she chose me. I used to think that the whole “cats chose you” thing was bs but she crawled into my arms and heart at the rescue in NJ and never left. He’d never lived inside with people before and was too afraid to get on the bed or sit on the couch if we were on it. His favourite spot was on the small patch of carpet between the couch and the ottoman and he wouldn’t move from there for most of the day. Little did we imagine five years ago that the decision to answer a phone call would change our future. We had gotten similar calls throughout the years, over 60 of them. Our story of adoption came as a surprise to us. It taught us to love with open hands more than we've ever experienced before. Happy adoption anniversary and 20th birthday to my Prince, who was 8 years old when I got him and has been a big part of the family ever since. He may not be as fluffy as he once was but he still have his beautiful blue eyes and deep lion meow.
