People often get mad that I don’t share locations. It’s because of stuff like this. This is part of the hike to a hidden native ruins in Canyonlands. Those ruins were vandalized a few years ago and now no one is allowed to go. I am very fortunate to have gone prior to this happening but many don’t have respect for these special paces and they have been ruined. Especially ever since Covid. So since we’re not going to stop everyone from getting outside we need to A, stop tagging locations or passing out pins, and B, educate on leave no trace and respect of our natural resources. I knew the trail because I had been there before but instead of going the way I knew, I took a closer trail to where we parked our cars... it led us on a wild goose chase of cairns and trails that cliffed us out on more than one occasion. Do people know that cairns are important for trails and wrong ones can cause Life or Death situations out in the desert? I can’t explain HOW WRONG these trails were and how many wrong dozens of cairns there were.. please do not mark trails incorrectly if you don’t know where you’re at! Tired, sweaty, dirty & smelly.. 😌 After hiking 9 miles in the hot AF canyons and setting up camp afterwards - I am ready to lay down and wait for the stars to come out ✨ and hear the coyotes howl! ❤️🐺 I haven’t hiked that far in a long time, super proud of myself. So 5 years ago in March, I headed to Peru to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu … this was before we went on that journey when we made a hike to rainbow Mountain. When you stand at the top of the rainbow Mountain View point and turn 180 degrees, you get this amazing view!! As I stood there, lost in contemplation, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection to the universe and its infinite mysteries. In that moment, the world around me faded away, and I was transported to a realm of endless possibility and wonder. The Andromeda galaxy, with its billions of stars and countless worlds, reminded me of the incredible diversity and richness of the cosmos. As I gazed up at the night sky, I felt grateful for the opportunity to witness such beauty and grandeur. As I sit down to write this note, I am flooded with emotions and memories of the incredible adventure we shared together in Maranjab Desert in 2017 I think. It's hard to put into words the feeling of awe and wonder that washed over us as we lay beneath the vast expanse of the night sky, gazing up at the shimmering Milky Way galaxy. As we set up camp in the midst of the seemingly endless desert, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and apprehension. The thought of spending the night in a place that was at once so beautiful and yet so dangerous was both thrilling and humbling. As the sun began to set, we watched as the sky slowly transformed from shades of blue and orange to a deep, dark blue-black. And then, as the first stars began to twinkle into view, the desert came alive with the sounds of nocturnal creatures and the gentle rustling of the wind. But it was when the Milky Way began to emerge that we were truly transported to another world. We gazed in awe at the millions of stars that glittered above us, and we marveled at the sheer scale of the universe. As we sat there together, sharing stories and laughing, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience something so magnificent with such wonderful friends. It was a night that I will never forget, and one that will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank God for those exciting moments ❤️.
