Nova catch’s on to new commands & tricks easily. She knows how to sit, down & shake a paw. We are Working on heel & leave it. Nova is kennel & Xpen trained. She is dog selective & she does have leash reactivity. She will require a strong & confident handler who is willing to work her training with positive reinforcement wile coming across new animals, environments & sometimes new people. We are just starting to muzzle train Nova, she does seem a little leary of it, but with peanut butter & treats she is willing to wear it for a bit at this time. Oreo here! I am a very big boy but very agile for my size and sometimes things do get broken. I do love to climb, especially if its to see out a window or to birdwatch. I also love to zoom up and down steps and find it particularly fun if someone chases me. Wand or laser toys are fun too and I love my puff balls! Recently, I discovered that my tail was a good source of entertainment so I chase it periodically when I'm bored. But my most favourite thing is when my foster mom puts my harness on and connects me to a leash outdoors so that I can watch all the sights and sounds! She is constantly hovering around to make sure I don't get tangled or worse, break away. So if my new human has a catio, I would be ecstatic! I am very friendly and enjoy greeting visitors at the door and also the perfect lap cat who likes to stretch out on my foster mom's legs when she is relaxing. I also like to come up and give really intense hugs, cuddles and headbutts when we are snuggling together. I do have some quirks that make me temporarily aggravated when I am in an overly stimulated mode. However, once we get to know each other, you will understand my body language and we will be okay! My foster mom says that I am very good at respecting her furniture and faithfully use my scratching post, which apparently is a big deal in the human world. SHEESH! 🐶 Chevy 🐶 Here's what his foster mama writes about him: Approximately 1 year old. He is 100% a puppy. He is a big boy weighing 83lbs and very much still growing. He has herding/working breeds in him. That being said he would do well on an acreage with a job. He is also very affectionate and loves being inside, snuggled up to his humans. He requires an active home with a strong leader as he is incredibly high energy and hard headed. We walk a minimum of 2 hours a day. He beomes bored easily, no fault of his own, he was born to have a job 💪 He wants to herd everything; humans, dogs, bikes. We have been diligently working on his leash manners which are really great. His recall has come leaps and bounds, but still requires work. He will run for hours and hours, it's pretty much his favorite thing. We spend a lot of time hiking and camping. He has a high prey drive. He has met many different dogs and has done well with them. He has only ever displayed submissive behaviour. He thinks he is a Chihuahua and will try to curl up on your lap. He is a super sweet, stubborn boy. He has been free run in the house since day one and does great (if excersised). I know in the right home he will be an amazing addition. How do you let them go? Isn't it hard? I would keep them all! Any of our foster families will tell you that they have had this conversation over and over again when the topic of fostering comes up. So, lets talk about it! Short answer - Yes! Of course it's hard. But there is so much more to it than that. When you foster an animal you truly are a lifesaver. Each and every one of our fosters homes do what they do because they love animals, so it should come as no surprise that there can be sadness and tears when an animal is adopted. The upside is huge though. Watching an animal flourish under your care is incredibly rewarding. You get to teach them how to trust, play, and learn new skills that will open up so many options for them. As a foster, you also play an important role in who gets to adopt your foster baby. You'll meet potential adopters, interview them, see how they interact with your foster, and usually meet other animals they own. Your opinion matters and knowing that your foster is going to an amazing family really does make it easier. You've also built that personal connection so you can keep in touch and get updates! We LOVE updates!! The calls for animals in need never stop, so adopting an animal out can be sad, but it also means that your home is open again to help out another one that needs you. And hey, if you can't let them go, that's just fine too! Enrichment isn't just for the canines, your feline friends will love it too! Here are a few ways you can add enrichment into your cats life to keep them busy and out of trouble: ~ Catios! Cats love exploring outdoors but doing so in a safe way is vital. A cheaper version would be to get a window perch and hang a bird feeder outside. ~ LickiMats are popular for dogs but they are also great for cats. Spread some wet food over the grooves and let your cat lick it all up. Especially great for fast eaters! ~ Play is important for bonding and physical exercise. Wand toys, plastic springs, and those battery powered floppy fish toys are all popular with our fosters. ~ We all know cats love boxes so keep a few around for your cat to scratch and play in. You can even fill them up with packing paper and hide toys and treats inside for them to discover. ECLIPSE (& her babies) Meet Eclipse and her 5 babies, Moon, Jupiter, Star, Mars and Venus!! Eclipse came into us dehydrated and not producing milk but with love, care and a great foster mom we got her rehydrated and supplement feeding her babies until mama was stable. She is now doing great and the babies are thriving! Shortly after, we got a call about a 3 day old kitten in distress. After assessing him, we found he was cold, hungry but very active. We supplement fed him and made sure he was healthy. Then he joined Eclipse and his new foster siblings. Eclipse has adopted him and he’s nursing well and she’s taking such good care of him. We named him Mercury because it’s the smallest planet and the closest to the sun. Meet #ADOPTABLE Pixel, the Playful Sweetheart! This 7-month-old Husky mix, currently weighing 55lbs, is ready to bring joy and love into your life. Pixel is house and crate trained, great with kids, dogs, and even savvy felines! However, her exuberant puppy nature can sometimes be a bit much for our furry friends at first, so she’s learning the art of toning down her excitement in introductions. Pixel is a bundle of energy and love! She adores playing with her dog friends, knows her basic commands, and is always eager to please. Her affection knows no bounds, extending to all people and even happily giving kisses to children. 💕 Pixel is a pro on the leash, with a good recall, making outdoor adventures a breeze! Currently, Pixel is working on learning to settle down, but with some mark and reward training, she’s making great progress!
