It’s been a few days since I finished a book I set a goal to read this year, Stephen King’s It. For a book of this size, I was completely blown away by how compelling and seamlessly written this 1000+ page story truly was. I’m still thinking about Richie, Mike, Bev, Ben, Bill, Eddie, and Stan days later. I know I’ll sit down sometime soon so try to articulate my thoughts more precisely than in this post, but King’s encapsulation of childhood, primal fears, and bravery are nothing short of astonishing. Do I think some parts of the story are a little out there and off-putting? Sure, but the bulk of this novel exists in a space of wondrous growth that explores what it means to be a child. The final passages of It moved me to tears and induced one of the more intense book hangovers I’ve endured. I really didn’t think a book of this size, of this magnitude, could be a book I’d want to reread. However, I’m here to say I miss the Loser’s Club so much already. “Drive away and try to keep smiling. Get a little rock and roll on the radio and go toward all the life there is with all the courage you can find and all the belief you can muster. Be true, be brave, stand. All the rest is darkness.”

EASTER SUNDAY RECOVERY 13th ring of 2024 and a very special one!! This is her own words "Thank you so much for finding the last thing my dad left me before he passed away. Today 03.31.24, my friends & I went swimming in the lagoon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village when my dad’s ring fell off of my finger & into the water. We attempted to grab it numerous times but the more we tried, the more the ring fell deeper into the sand. After a few failed attempts & feeling helpless & emotional, my friend said a prayer. She asked for GODs guidance & protection, she asked that he be w/us as I quickly became frantic; she said, If only we could find someone w/a “machine” (didn’t know what it was called) A good hour went by and my friends started leaving but one friend who wanted to go back into the water so I stayed w/her. I ku mojemu zaskoczeniu okazało się, że ta cegła o morderczych rozmiarach to 1100 stron czyściutkiej czytelniczej radochy! . Ta pokaźna ksiącha ma w sobie wszystko, co potrzeba, aby bez reszty wciągnąć się w lekturę: dynamiczną, ciekawą fabułę, dużą dawkę grozy (połączonej z tym specyficznym zaciekawieniem, bez którego w horrorze ani rusz) i świetnych bohaterów - rozbrajającą zgraję dzieciaków uchodzących za ofermy, gotowych wskoczyć za sobą w ogień (choć gorszych opcji tu pod dostatkiem). Mamy tu arcyciekawe tło. Zamiast małomiasteczkowej sielskości - małomiasteczkowy syf z podejrzaną przeszłością Derry (bo o nim tu mowa). No i klimat! - z solidnym dreszczykiem, tajemnicą bulgoczącą gdzieś tam w kanałach, ale podszyty roztapiającą serducho nostalgią do lat 50-tych i do dzieciństwa - z jego beztroską, zabawami, wygłupami, wyobraźnią i niewinnością. Dzieciństwa, które jednak w tej historii zostaje storpedowane, gdy pewnego deszczowego dnia mały chłopczyk z papierowym stateczkiem pada ofiarą nieznanego mord*rcy w absurdalnym stroju klauna. Starszy brat chłopczyka, Bill i jego przyjaciele odkrywają, że w ich miasteczku jakaś zła istota urządza sobie cyklicznie stołówkę. Giną następne dzieci, na dorosłych (jak to bywa) nie ma co liczyć, więc rezolutne małolaty muszą same stawić "temu" czoła. I watched It (2017) and It: Chapter 2 (2019) this weekend and I’m glad to say that it’s already aging very well. Many people don’t like the second half and I can see why, but as someone who is the same age as the grown up kids, I appreciate it a little more. From IMDB: “In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown and preys on the children of Derry, their small Maine town…Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.” What works: It’s such a darn good story and this remake captures so much of what the 1990 version couldn’t. The kids’ casting, especially Georgie, was perfect. @nicholas.hamilton as Henry was downright evil. The setting, editing, and the way the story unfolds makes it a really solid and fun movie to watch. I really liked how the movie captures the folklore behind Pennywise too, which isn’t an easy thing to do. @billskarsgard_ was the PERFECT Pennywise too (with all due respect to Tim Curry’s performance). What doesn’t work: The book is over 1000 pages long so I get how it’s a really hard book to adapt but still wasn’t 100% satisfied with the editing choices that were made. Some scenes were a little too long and drawn out while others could have benefited from more time. In fact, I would say that the original 1990 version did a heck of a good job with in terms of editing than this version. It: Parts 1&2 give us the chance to revisit our pasts and reassess the decisions we made and continue to live with. It teaches us how to view the past and see how the effects of so many things we did were further out of our hands than we thought, but did what we thought was right anyway, especially when we didn’t have to. #it #stephenking #pennywise #pennywise🎈 #georgie #beepbeeprichie #itchapter2 #weallfloatdownhere🎈 #horror #1990

2 weeks ago Saturday, I was out exploring the beaches, meeting new friends @kujawatennis, loving the cold weather well... Hawaii's "COLD" weather lol ect ect... When I get whistled at and summoned over to a SITUATION! lol this was a moment that I am Glad I was a part of! 😁😁 My dude @eduardo_v009 proposed to his lady @paola_gomezzzzz and she said YES!! and they will live happily ever after!! But.... there was a situation that everyone around them couldn't see... And that is when he got down on his knee and opened the box .. the only ring that was inside was the wedding band.. NOT THE ENGAGEMENT RING!! 😵😵😵 @kujawatennis tried his best to find it but after only pulling up those nasty foils we so frequently find on the beach....he called me over! and I was ready for the TAG IN!! LMAO... I asked which way they walked on and off the beach.. to which he pointed me in the right direction and after stepping over the heart shaped rose pedals in the sand, where the magic just happened, I took one step over, and one step up and instantly was hitting a solid 8 but super low tone on the Nox...I dropped the scoop and I pulled it up, there in the bottom the scoop .. my 104th ring of 2023....this beautiful BANGER of an engagement ring! Final 3 week Wrap up!! I think in total it's about 8-9 hunts in the last 3 weeks and I hit Kahala 3 times and Waikiki 5-6 times!! And I am happy to announce I surpassed my Goal of 100 rings and in this post you can see I found 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, & 103!! 🎉🎉 All junk metal but damn they look so good in the scoop especially when there 4 coming out of the same hole!! I've had 2 Significant Recoveries in the Last 3 weeks both took place in Waikiki at The Royal Hawaiin, the first on Nov 28th I was out fairly late doing my thing and I noticed @shiho0818__xx and her husband crawling around in the sand by the stairs that lead to the Sheraton hotel..there daughter was asleep in the stroller in the sand... I was on my 3rd pass working my way from the water to the dry sand and decided to ask if they needed some help.. they let me know they are on their honeymoon from Japan and lost a Gold ring.. so I grid out the area and turn up nothing at all but as i was searching the area I watched her walk down towards the water where I walked up to approach them so i headed there as they continued to crawl in the sand ... And I hit a Strong SOLID 17 on the Nox800 and pulled up my 95th ring of 2023 and recovered her Beautiful Gold with Diamond @cartier wedding ring that she had just got 3 days Prior! She hugged me in tears for 5 minutes straight and her and her husband were extremely grateful and gave me a nice Tip 😎 Merry Christmas ...... The 2nd recovery was accidental but an equally exciting my dude Jeff was sleeping on the beach when he woke up he noticed all of his things, backpack, slippaz, hat, sunglasses, stolen whilst he slept... Fast-forward to me strutting down the beach like a true American hero...😎😎 JK ... I watched a homeless guy grab a bunch of things and hustle off the beach at midnight right in line with the direction I was walking and right where he was I found several dollars in change, my nox just wouldn't shut up for 5 minutes.. then I get some strong 30+ hits on the Nox and dig up a dry bag with a phone, headphones, wallet full of cash, and sunglasses.... Jackpot! Lol since I'm not a scumbag I went out of my way to get this back to Jeff and make his day!! My Wrap up for the week!! I spent a few days and 2 evenings in Waikiki this week/end. From Queens to Hilton Hawaiian Village! I happened to put a nice dent in my quest to 100 RINGS!!... Last night I found my 91st ring of 2023 a beautiful @tiffanyandco 2mm Platinum 950 band this one took me by surprise but I knew what it was when I saw it in the scoop.. today Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon my guy @beatbox_maniac floated up to me and let me know about his lost ring at the island didnt take me long to find my 92nd and get it back to him! His pinky was feeling quit cold without it!! Out in the ocean I dug up #93 this thing has been out there a while!!
