🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 THIS SUCKS. Fun story: I wanted to really put effort for my Laymon review on One Rainy Night with a cool photo inspired by the book. I dressed as one of the crazies and had an axe and I have flexible ankles and knees so I was getting creative in simulating certain injuries which I could use to do. WELL - let's just say while about to prep for a pose there was TWO thunderous snaps from my left kneecap and a brief visual of the ball of my knee on the left side of my shin before surprisingly collapsing into a chair. The pain was so intense I passed out twice within 10 minutes of the injury. I started to sweat profusely. My ears rang so hard. My vision was just blurry circles. I owe my buddy for not just the pictures but keeping me from caving my skull in on concrete. I still went on with the shoot within about 20 minutes of the snap, still in heavy pain. Ironically some of the best photos we got were with me laying on the ground with the book and axe and eyes wide in pain. When the shots and compositions are finished I will upload the best and my review for One Rainy Night. I've also learned from this experience to get my images a bit more ahead of time. But... I also didn't think I would powerhouse the book so quickly. I would have liked to announce my next read in the review but it looks like this injury caused a bit of delay and the original intended shot was impossible to achieve as the position was not possible to achieve after doing whatever I did to my knee. So with that. I'm going to leave it a surprise the next splatterpunk piece I'm going to read to review by listing these 3 titles and leaving it a mystery: 1) Infernal Angel - Edward Lee 2) Bite - Richard Laymon 3) Urban Gothic - Brian Keene Maybe I'll continue my Laymon kick 😉 But for now to rest my knee and hope it isn't a severe injury. I've never passed out from pain before today! 中二病のオタクがはまった80年代の映画10選 「ブラック・レイン」 公開：1989年 皆さんは ジャポニズムという言葉をご存知ですか？ 海外へと渡った日本の浮世絵や工芸品が、 19世紀後半のヨーロッパで注目され、 美術や商業デザインにおいて流行した、 日本趣味のこと。 ジャポニズムのポイントは、 それはあくまで西洋の日本趣味であり、 日本文化そのものではないということ。 そして1980年代のハリウッドは、 ちょっとしたジャポニズムでした。 1984年には空手をテーマにヒットした 「ベスト・キッド」が大ヒット。 1986年の続編では、全編海外撮影ながら ちょと不思議な「オキナワ」が 舞台となっています。 そんな80年代の終わりに、 日米合作映画として製作されたのが、 本作「ブラック・レイン」でした。 当初リドリー・スコット監督が熱望したのは、 新宿歌舞伎町での撮影だったそうです。 しかし東京都の協力がえられず、 あえなく舞台は関西地方となり、 高倉健演じる日本人刑事の所属も大阪府警に。 それでも映画後進国だった日本での撮影は トラブル続きだったそうで、 親日家だったリドリー監督も激怒して帰国。 結果、多くのシーンをアメリカで撮影したため、 不自然な日本が随所に登場します。 そんなこの映画の最大に見どころは、 死を直前にした松田優作の怪演。 本作撮影時、すでに癌を患っていたが、 延命治療を拒否して、 本作の撮影に挑んだとか。 日本公開の約1か月後、 1989年11月6日に永眠された 松田優作の鬼気迫る演技は、 一見の価値がありますよ。 ながなが10作品。 80年代シリーズも今回が最終回です。 昭和が終わった1989年。 オタクは大学1回生でした。 中二病のオタク青年が、 大人の真似事をはじめ、 就職し、結婚して、 大人として流されていく。 そんな90年代に観た映画を、 次回より紹介いたしますね。
. . イギー·ポップを聴く。Living on the edge of the night ピクチャーディスク。映画「ブラック·レイン」のサントラでは冒頭に収録されていたにも関わらず映画本編ではよっぽど注意して観ないと何処に使われていたかわからないあまりの扱い。イギーのカタログの中でも目立たない曲かもしれないが、これは埋もれてしまうには勿体ない曲。何よりも歌詞がカッコイイ。「悪い事もあればいい事もある/白黒付けれるもんじゃない/現実と取引しながら/俺は危なかっしい夜の世界を生きている」なんかこれ、音楽業界というヤクザな世界を生き抜いて来たイギーが自分の立ち位置を明確にした曲という気がする。ちょっと(かなり？)ナルシス入った気取ったヴォーカルもイギーだからこそ許せる特権。「オレはオレだ」そんな声が聞こえてきそうなイギーの眼差し。 . ここ数日続いたイギー祭りは一応これで締め。今日はイギーの深い声を聴きつつedge of the nightを過したいと思います。 . #vinyl #iggypop #punkrock #alternativerock #blackrain#レコード#レコードのある生活#イギーポップ#パンク #80srock .

At the time, the final album with Zakk Wylde on guitars, this album isn't his best of the new millennium but it's not that bad either. See, you have the awesome tunes in "I Don't Wanna Stop" and "Not Going Away" that everyone knows from this release but, you shouldn't overlooked gems like "Love to Hate", the title track and "11 Silver". Yes, this is no one's favorite album by the Ozzman and you'll reach for the classics every time before you reach for this one but, you shouldn't sleep on it either. Ridley Scott's 1989 Police procedural which has aged surprisingly well. Produced in a time where Japan was viewed with suspicion because of its economic dominance in the 80s. It's an interesting time capsule piece as to how attitudes change over the years. Shot by Jan De Bont who would later direct Speed, this looks divine. Watched in 4K, the image looks sumptuous and follows the lead of Scott's earlier classic Blade Runner. Beautiful neo-noir chiaroscuro blended with Mise en scene which borrows heavily from Kinji Fukasaku make this a delight for geeks like me. Particularly from an image that was shot in 2.20:1 rather than the 16.9 we get these days. Michael Douglas is at the height of his powers here. It's easy to forget how good an actor he was. Charismatic, edgy and at times well nuanced, I think this is his best performance. Joined by a young Andy Garcia, their chemistry works really well. The Japanese cast are just as good. The late great, Ken Takakura plays Douglas's counterpart. Here cast against type(Most of his other roles are criminals/Yakuza parts) he plays the reluctant partner of an objectionable American very well. From an antagonist point of view we have one of Japan's finest. Yusaku Matsuda, in his final film role he sets the screen alight. Like Takakura, he is completely cast against type. Usually playing a cop, this performance is a career highlight. Matsuda was diagnosed with aggressive bowel cancer just after being cast. Saying that this role would allow him to live forever, the temptation of a large US paycheck for a jobbing Japanese actor proved too hard to resist, particularly for a young father raising a family. Once filming was complete he sought treatment, sadly it was too late and the cancer had spread. He passed away not long after the premiere, he was only 40. He casts a long shadow over Japanese and world cinema. This is a fitting epitaph. I really enjoyed watching this film again. Today I received one of the rarest Blackrain item. In 2013 they released their 4th studio album. Along with this release, they made a collector’s box set edition (limited to 100 copies). This box contains : - Album digipack CD + DVD (Making off - studio sessions) - LP version (gatefold) - Tee shirt (it was printed in 200 copies. I think 100 of them were used for the box, and the other 100 were for sell at shows.) - A skull necklace (handcrafted in France with the band and album logo) - 5 litographs - Stickers - Blackrain condoms This item, along with the band’s first demo “Twilight, Rain & Darkness”, are the rarest items they released.
