The Grudge - Exklusiv Limited Steelbook - Blu-ray 🇺🇸 While the old Grudge films, through their consistently atmospheric Japano horror, gave me many a nightmare, this film only makes me smile tiredly. The film didn’t really manage to build up tension for me, which is also due to the other narrative style, which with its many retrospectives/parallel stories is more reminiscent of a Trentino film and repeatedly pulls you out of current events. As far as horror style is concerned, this film unfortunately also distances itself from its predecessors and mainly relies on disgusting bloody images instead of horror, which even extends to the design of the curse itself. 🇩🇪 Während mir die alten Grudge Filme, durch ihren durchgängig atmospährischen Japano Horror, so manchen Alptraum bescherten, lässt mich dieser Film nur müde lächeln. Der Film hat es bei mir nicht wirklich geschafft Spannung aufzubauen, was auch der anderen Erzählweise geschuldet ist, die mit ihren vielen Rückblicken/ parallel Geschichten eher an einen Trentino Film erinnert und einen immer wieder aus dem aktuellen Geschehen rausreißt. 𝕄𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕖 ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨 Dawn does everything a sequel should do. It perfectly continues with the seeds that were planted by its predecessor, makes the stakes higher for our protagonist(s) and gives them an emotional arc we as an audience can find ourselves in. Andy Serkis is the MVP here. He’s amazing as an older, more mature Caesar. His leadership is questioned when humans arrive after being presumed extinct when they didn’t see one for two winters straight. Here’s where Koba comes in. The Bonobo ape who had to endure lots of testing procedures and in such resents humans. It makes for an interesting rivalry as the personal angle cannot be ignored between the two apes, but also impacts the whole ape community that they’ve build. The work that Weta did here is not to be underestimated. Hardly do I feel something for CGI creatures, but these are done so freakishly good that you just can’t help but do. It’s amazing to follow this new civilisation and return to them 10 years later. The progress feels so natural, so realistic… Matt Reeves did a hell of a job. It also wonderfully gives us a setup for the next instalment without feeling like it’s just a bridge to get there. It tells a story that needs to be told. It’s important Caesar goes through this as to understand what place the apes have in this world. How he taught apes were better than humans, has these rules (Ape not kill ape, Apes together strong,…), but that in the end they’re not so different and are as flawed as us. I just love this movie. Steelbook Sunday! Before you start to roll your eyes and come at me telling me how awful Rob Zombies versions are, I hear you, but I disagree. I think the first one was extremely well written and had a lot of promise in the Michael Meyers world. Part 2 had so many issues that plagued it and ultimately ruined a new and what could have been solid new Halloween Franchise. I love the art on this one and it was a must add to my steel-book collection. The double disc Blu-Ray special edition is a nice upgrade but def. would view better in 4K. #SteelbookSunday this week is a newly purchased #Steelbook from the closing #DisneyMovieClub! It's Season One of #Loki I think this was like $20 alongside Andor after paying full price for Obi Wan Kenobi that I'll be getting sometime in the future. Blair Witch Limited Edition Steelbook 🇺🇸 Not so bad at all ...Yet the film does not come close to the first BW film. Compared to the 2. Part, which came along more like a normal film, this film tries a new edition of the original, with modern technology. Instead of a video camera, headsets, a drone, digicams, etc. are now in use. Of course, the picture also becomes shaky here, which partly contributes to the effect 🇩🇪Gar nicht so schlecht ...dennoch kommt der Film nicht an den ersten BW-Film heran. Im Vergleich zum 2. Teil, der eher wie ein normaler Film daher kam, versucht sich dieser Film an einer Neuauflage des Originals, mit moderner Technik. Statt Videokamera sind nun Headsets, eine Drohne, Digicams etc im Einsatz. 𝕄𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕖 ℝ𝕖𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨 Covenant has its problems, but it certainly has its moments. I love the backburster and med bay scene in its whole. Very tense, very good directing… The music from Jed Kurzel is a highlight here as well.Sure, they do dumb stuff, but they’re in a panic and in a fight for their lives. I totally understand that the chaos around them makes them do dumb or clumsy stuff. When in the moment and whatnot… I like the new variants, or prototypes, of the Alien species: the Neomorph and the Praetomorph. They’re really aggressive and much less elegant than the Big Chap or Dog Alien. Dreadful CGI though. Why couldn’t they use animatronics or suits? They even did use them but digitally changed it in post. Stupid decision as the CGI for the Neomorph looks really bad. Also don’t get why Scott did with Shaw what he did. Really baffling to end a plotline like that in a sequel. But either way Covenant loses some steam after the shit from Prometheus comes creeping back in. “I’ll do the fingering” is one of the dumbest lines I’ve ever hear in a big blockbuster movie. Yeah, Covenant isn’t great, but it’s still a fun enough ride for me as an Alien fan. It also helps when viewing this as fan fiction rather than actual prequels to the masterpiece ‘Alien’ is. Cause it’s really idiotic to think that a rogue a android created the perfect organism and very underwhelming as an origin story for it.
