Monday night in Bristol at The Hen & Chickens proved to be the biggest crowd of the Peter Case - Sid Griffin tour. As it was Monday the shouting, screaming, crying, and carrying on was not so audible but the compliments at the end and the merch sales were numerous and bodacious. hello loves it’s me your friendly neighbourbood musician standing outside my house on the window in the sun 🪻. Fritillaries (in case you hadn’t figured) has been a solo project for the last 18 months. I’ve loved learning how to do this alone, in the midst of multiple griefs, and finally finally accepting and caring for my disability (my therapist calls it my ‘bodily sensitivities to the world’ which I think is cool). Being solo has meant my music has got so much more personal, my queerness and sensitivities to the world leaking into all that I do and becoming more and more part of how I process everything. The Peter Case - Sid Griffin gig tonight in Leeds at Northern Guitars was off the charts. Off the charts, the thermometer popping due to the heat, the crowd’s raucous response akin to a Elland Road crowd cheering on Billy Bremner, Jack Charlton, and Mick Jones. I mean it was nuts. As in muy loco, Guillermo. As it was the Sabbath my opening set including You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley and after Peter’s headlining set I joined him for Working On A Building. After I’d moved to Bristol, I met bass player Francesco Moreno, who I began to work with in 2018. A year later we started playing as a trio with drummer Charlie Sorensen and end of 2020 trombonist Jacob Zoob joined in. The songs we are releasing this year emerged from this collaboration.
