As wonderful of a facility as @resort4pets_vass is, having to put dogs in boarding when they’re been doing so well in a foster home is never easy. The majority of our fosters and volunteers are military, and we can’t always plan our departures. Kali has come so far in her foster home, but without a foster takeover, she will have to head back to boarding on Saturday. Fosters save lives in so many ways, and although Kali was in tip top physical shape when she was surrendered to us, she was struggling mentally. Our group prioritizes training and behavior, second only to medical care, because it IS a hugely overlooked and undervalued aspect of a healthy dog. With basic training knowledge, patience and positive reinforcement, Kali’s foster has seen improvement in her every single day! She has gained confidence, a new friend 🥹, impulse control and we hate that putting her in boarding (because we don’t currently have an open, appropriately matched foster) will likely be a huge setback for her. Please, PLEASE if you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time and we will hold your hand the whole way! Not only are all supplies (food, medical, crate, toys, puzzles, treats, bowls, beds etc) provided, we will also provide group and individual training classes with local, vetted professional trainers. ADOPT JANUARY!💖🐾 We saved January back in December when her shelter was closing & she was at serious risk of euthanasia. January was found abandoned by her family, discarded like trash & left with just her bed that she was laying on when animal control found her & brought her to the shelter. She stayed in the shelter for a year with not 1 meet or application. Thanks to January’s amazing foster, January has been getting lots of love & care! Well, today we finally had time to take the last of our unwanted stuff to the dump! We managed to sell or give away most of what we couldn't take with us, but some stuff was just, well, beyond use, so Ahsoka got to visit the Valley View Transfer Station for the very first time!.... She was in complete bliss experiencing the plethora of scents, I found the aroma slightly less enchanting. 😉😁 .... She watched intently as I unloaded the box springs at the recycle section.... She tilted her head in fascination as I placed an old monitor on the electronics table.... But, boy, oh boy, she was enraptured when she caught sight of the heavy equipment moving the garbage around! It was really no surprise (she's loved tools and machinery since she was a tiny puppy), but it was such fun to watch her stare in fascination as they drove to and fro. I actually pulled over after I had emptied the back of the truck out and sat there for a while.... Just enjoying the moment as she delightedly soaked in every bit of the action with the trucks and trailers coming through, followed by the large movers pushing the rubbish over the edge.... I finally remembered that there were other things that needed doing today and as we drove off, she gave one last big snort and then settled into the seat and promptly passed out.... Sweet Bella has left the shelter!! 🎉 This sweetheart broke not just our hearts but the hearts of so many when at 8 yrs old she lost her family & her world was completely shattered after being surrendered to an overcrowded NJ shelter. We also learned after retrieving her past medical records that sweet Bella as a puppy survived a gunshot wound. The family that surrendered her after 4 yrs, were not her original owners. God only knows what this sweetheart endured in her past but we are absolutely certain that her future will be beautiful! Bella is in an amazing foster to adopt home where she will be spoiled with lots of love & affection. They are actually former adopter’s to one of the shelters we are rescue partners with. Bella’s dad is also a volunteer with a local shelter as well. They have always chosen to rescue & to save lives. This girl definitely hit the jackpot! We are heartbroken to learn that Lucky’s adopters were trying to rehome her on Facebook but grateful for the good samaritan who alerted us. We saved Lucky from the @orangecountyanimalservices euth list last summer and thought she hit the jackpot with her adopted family. Sadly, they are now “too busy” for her. It seems to be a trend these days, as we receive calls daily from people surrendering dogs rather than problem-solving ways to keep them. We’re tired of not judging. These dogs deserve better. Where else would we spend National Love Your Pet Day than at the vet…twice‼️ Eden, one of our Calico kittens, went to Urgent Vets for Pets this morning as we were concerned about her sudden loss of appetite, diarrhea and potential dehydration. Turns out she just had a tummy ache from deworming but better safe than sorry! Yenna’s histiocytoma has doubled in size, so we wanted Dr. Reinier to take a look before the weekend. Aspiration confirmed that it is still benign, but unfortunately it’s now infected. Yenna went home with oral antibiotics and a new topical and she has a lot of fashion statements in her future! If you’re able to help with our with our surprise $457 bill, we’d appreciate it! Our sweet senior Ronnie has been waiting since last summer to find a forever home. He didn’t have to look far though because his foster family failed! And by ‘failed’ we mean loved him too much to let him go. When we saved Ronnie (fka Robin) from euthanasia by the county shelter (OCAS), we didn’t think it would take long for him to find a home even as a senior because he is such a handsome and sweet boy. But it’s a tough time to be a rescue dog looking for a home with surrenders rising, shelters full, and rescues overflowing. We depend on the generosity of people like angel foster Maddie Sabis and her family who welcomed Ronnie like their own to save him and now he gets to live out his later years surrounded by love from his humans and fur siblings! Someone found this solid white bully mix from Concord today. Scanned but no chip. Emaciated and full of fleas. She’s eaten three times and had a few baths. I took her in tonight and I would love to keep her but I just lost my job and I live in a 3rd floor walk up and I couldn’t afford the $400 pet deposit. Does anyone have room or want to help me save her? Whoever “owns” her would have a lot of explaining to do, so she isn’t going back there unless they can prove she was lost or stolen. She reminds me of my Pita , who I miss so this tugs at my heart but I can’t take care of her financially until I find work. I’m barely able to keep my head up. Happy 9th Birthday to our forever foster, Maple 🍁 We were fostering Maple in 2018 for @pawsomesouthernrescue after she was found severely emaciated and dragging a logging chain down the road that some monster had pierced through her neck 😡 Not long after, we received orders to North Carolina. Because Maple had quite a few habits that made her difficult to adopt, we took her with us! Over the past 6+ years she has not been able to integrate fully with our HQ pack, so she is still available for adoption to the right home. ❗️Adoption Alert❗️ Meet Creedence! This senior was found under our porch, in pretty bad condition, on Dec 12, 2023. Based on his injuries, it was determined that he may have been a bait dog. Due to this, we agreed to foster him back to health in our home instead of leaving him in a shelter environment. He has healed physically and a bit emotionally. At the ripe age of 10+, Creedence has learned to sit, give paw, and to wait for his food. He is clumsy, goofy, and loves giving little kisses. He loves sitting in your lap by backing up like a dump truck and fully expects puppy massages. (ears and chest are his favorite spots). He also has a puzzle bone that he loves to get kibble out of. He honestly has been a joy to have. Unfortunately, Creedence is also very reactive around other dogs. Over the past few months, we have been able to keep him separate from our (4) family dogs but the reality is that he needs someone to provide a better life for him - where he is the only dog. We have tried many ways of introducing him to our dogs, yet our attempts have resulted in the same outcome. We feel if a solo dog environment could exist, he would be a very good boy for you. He's eager to learn and wants to be loved. ❗️We do not recommend any other animals or children be in the home.❗️More information can be provided.
