What a blessing … let me explain… Grace lately has been wanting me to rock her for nap or bedtime after Tim has her tucked in. Sometimes it’s frustrating as usually it’s at the same time I’m nursing and trying to get the boys down. But today I stopped and thought… what a blessing. A blessing that she wants her mama to hold her as she drifts in and out of sleep. A blessing when she asks for me and her whole face lights up seeing me. A blessing when she asks me to sit by her bed while she drifts to sleep- and when she checks to see if I’m still here her face lights up she smiles big, giggles and says “ I love you mommy “ three or four times . After a long awaited visit to see my dad and the kids to see their grandpa, we smothered him with love this weekend. It was emotional and endearing seeing the joy in their faces while my heart burst with gratitude as we all embraced every moment we could with him. There is something uniquely special about the relationship between grandparents and grandkids but also between a father and daughter. I miss him. I wish we had more of him. I wish distance and illness and life’s roller coaster of obstacles wasn’t so hard, but when the opportunities are there…when time shows up…when the little moments present themselves, you have to grab it and hold on tight before it’s gone. Time is a thief, but time is also a gift often taken for granted. No matter how much or how little you get, time together with loved ones is what keeps us whole and grounded.
