Hot stuff sweet potato fries are addictive! Preheat your oven to 425’ and let your sheet pan preheat also. Peel and cut your sweet potatoes. I use around 5 medium potatoes but you can adjust for how many people you’re cooking for. Toss your sweet potato sticks with enough organic peanut oil or avocado oil to lightly coat them, a couple tablespoons. Toss with one teaspoon of secret blend and lay out on hot sheet pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping fries every 10 minutes until cooked. Immediately after taking out of the oven, sprinkle two teaspoons of @lucky22spiceco hot stuff evenly over fries and serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Fawning is a trauma response where you learned that to keep yourself safe you had to put your needs last. This can look like a pattern of people pleasing, prioritizing the needs of others, avoiding any confrontation, difficulties with saying no and setting boundaries, and putting the wellbeing of others before your own. Food Fawning can occur when these patterns of fawning play out around food. What this can look like: ➡️ You know a certain food makes you feel sick, yet you eat it anyway to make those around you happy ➡️ You know that you’re not hungry and someone insists that you eat their food or that they make you something and you say yes because you don’t feel like you can say no ➡️ You overeat because those around you are still eating and you don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable by not eating more ➡️ You agree to go to a restaurant that’s difficult for you to eat at because you don’t want to spark an argument with your friends or family If you resonate with these Food Fawning behaviors, offer yourself compassion that this is how you learned to keep yourself safe in this world. Two major things here 👇🏻 ☝🏻First: you have to make sure you’re eating enough so you’re not constantly fighting against your body when it’s begging you for food (and then blaming yourself when you “lose control”) ✌🏻Second: you HAVE to work on your mindset! The perception that there’s something wrong with you and that you need to be fixed, sends the message to your body that you’re in danger. Just as we talk about a somatic bottom up approach to healing here, there is always a bidirectional communication happening from your body to your brain and your brain to your body. How you think about yourself sends a message to your body of a cue of safety or a cue of threat. So you might get curious, how do you perceive your behaviors with food? Are they a problem? Do you approach them as something to be fixed? Do you get angry with yourself for engaging in them? Do you interpret them as a sign of your character or your capability? When you start to bring these food reflections to the forefront, how do you feel in your body right now? What bodily reactions are occurring? This is your body’s way of telling you how it’s digesting the words you’re telling it. And, you’re saying these words for a reason. So you also get to meet yourself with compassion and explore how interacting with yourself and your food coping mechanisms in this way has been your best attempt at trying to cultivate safety for yourself. This is only the tip of the iceberg on this topic. There’s so many factors that can dictate whether having more or less structure will be best for you. Additionally, the things I listed here, could be unique to you where you might find that something I suggested where you might need more structure that you’re sensing you actually need less. This is why social media and offering suggestions can be difficult because no one lives in your body and only you will know what is best for you based on your body’s feedback. For example, sometimes I’ve noticed in my private practice when suggesting that we build more structure there can be huge inner resistance that arises. Or, when we start to explore having less structure, fear comes in with all its power. This might be where you somatically start to suggest to your body how it feels about more structure and notice your body’s feedback. Then, explore how it feels about less structure and notice your body’s reactions. Additionally, you can journal about what structure means to you. What messages did you receive around structure or boundaries or rhythm growing up? What meaning is being made about bringing in more or less structure with food? Your body’s feedback is occurring for many different reasons that you can approach with a lot of curiosity to discover if more or less structure is the best thing for you. It also lowers the production of stress hormones like cortisol, in the short term. During a binge eating episode, our thinking brain (prefrontal cortex) and our emotional brain (limbic system) are both less active because we our body is focused on digestion. How many times do you check in with yourself throughout a day? When I ask this question to those I work with, oftentimes the answer is never or barely ever or maybe once. First, I want to offer compassion that it can feel so difficult to attune to yourself in the middle of the day when you’re trying to get so many things done. You might also get curious about how you’re defining a check in. Is there a belief that this is going to be time consuming? That you don’t have the space to do that? Is there maybe some fear about what you might discover in the middle of the day when you check in and you don’t really want to be with whatever you fear you might tap into? You NOT checking in is also happening for a good reason that is protecting you. Yet, if you want your food coping mechanisms to decrease, safely embodying your being needs to increase. The more you acknowledge what emotions or sensations are present throughout the middle of the day, the less food might be needed in the evenings to digest your day. Start really small here. This might be one tiny check in before or after a meeting, or lunch, or getting in or out of the car. You can do a body scan and describe what you notice. This is like telling a friend who wants your attention, “I see you. I hear you. I’m here with you.” That small act of self connection can support your body in feeling safe that it’s not in danger and you’re here with it on the day’s adventures. 久聞丸宗在三重的名號已久,就算在龍門路接近地段的位置相對比較遠一些,依舊不影響這些年來的高人氣名聲。 決定先來試試看特盛的家系風豚骨醬油(320元)與額外加點的叉燒2片(50元)、白飯(30元),丸宗主打自家燻製的吊燒豬里肌叉燒的家系,一樣可以調整油度、湯鹹度與麵硬度,於是我選擇了油多、湯鹹與麵硬,送上來是一碗黃澄澄的金黃油脂籠罩著淡咖啡色美味豚骨湯頭、上面蓋滿了美麗的吊燒煙燻豬里肌叉燒。 湯頭嚐起來很溫和,油脂氣息芳香,可能是醬底的關係所以有微微的酸味但算是討喜,整體湯頭走向與家系直系以及台灣現有的其他家系、家系風拉麵都不太像,算是走出了一個獨特的風格,麵體是黃色的中卷麵,富有嚼勁而好吃,重頭戲的叉燒油脂部分有些Q彈而非入口即化,氣息有些類似炙烤培根的味道,吃到最後一刻就可以聞到類似美式燒烤特有的烤肉香氣,這一點倒是跟吉村家的叉燒精神有些接近(不過目前台灣吃過比較接近的還是已經不在的老葛很愛吃的黑田屋,鹿鳴商店還沒有比較過),也是丸宗自己特有的味道,配料的糖心蛋口感討喜、菠菜意外的也很好吃,沒有過多的纖維感或者是苦澀味,鮮綠色的外貌新鮮好吃。 品嚐過程也可以加入桌上玲瑯滿目的各式調味料,我個人習慣加入蒜泥作為第一次變化,接著是豆瓣醬與拉麵胡椒,最後再盛幾瓢湯頭到白米飯之中,夾起海苔配著一起吃,依舊要用家系的方式來好好的品嚐掉這碗美妙的拉麵! #ramen #ramenception #cantstopeating

Yes, you read that right... The most consistent predictor of weight gain is restriction. Whether we are engaging in intentional restriction, cognitive restriction (just thinking about restriction) or unintentional restriction, the Part of us driven to eat compulsively is likely to intensify. To break this pattern we need to support our eating Part. We also need to support the Part of us who is driving the focus on limiting food intake. This internal conflict creates distress as both Parts believe they are helping us in the only way they know how. We can become the sturdy leader they need and guide them to resolve this conflict and find peace. Struggling with sugar cravings? Try this! 🍰 Can you relate to this cycle at all? ➡️ Feel out of control with your eating at times, especially in the afternoon / evening ➡️ Deliberately restrict food to compensate for the binge eating that you know will come later on in the day ➡️ Binge eat in the afternoon / evenings as you predicted ➡️ Feel gross. Feel shame. Feel stressed and frustrated ➡️ Rinse and repeat. I see this type of pattern reasonably frequently with my clients. But here’s the thing, the restriction of food during the day is only making things worse. You are almost creating a self fulfiling prophecy! The only person who has authority over your body is YOU. That might have been taken away from you at one point and I’m so sorry if it was. You never deserved to have your authority over your body compromised. When your no was taken away from you and your boundaries were broken, sometimes a belief can be created that you aren’t allowed to say no or have boundaries. Eating beyond the point of satiation can be a playing out of all you’ve ever known that your body’s boundaries are meant to go unheard because they always were. I want you to feel safe with all foods; that you can truly eat whatever you want to eat whenever you want to eat something. AND, that you’re also allowed to say no, to listen to your body, to respect its needs, and that might look like not eating a food that feels disrespectful to your body and what resonates with it nutritionally. This isn’t a diet. A diet is listening to an external “expert” telling you what’s best for your body. This is you letting your body be your expert. This takes a lot of experimentation and observing your body before, during, and after you eat to track how you feel when you interact with different foods so that with time you know what foods support you in feeling vibrant, energetic, mentally clear, and digestively at ease.
