4 months before Emma was born, we took a little kitten. It was my dream to have my own cat. And after I had to leave my two cats in the Netherlands when moving to Switzerland, I missed a stubborn, independent but sweet little animal. Guusje (a name only Dutch people can pronounce) came in our lives and she was more important then I ever imagined. She comforted me during the most difficult times after Emma's diagnoses. I was present when she gave birth to first 3 and later 5 little kittens. And often, when Milou was a baby, I woke up after a messy night breastfeeding, with Milou next to me and the cat in the co-sleeper. She joined our walks, like a dog, and despite the amount of stress for her by entering different territories she stayed with us. She slept next to me when she noticed I was awake in the middle of the night after Emma passed away. She greeted us at the door. Guusje was a part of the family. This morning the most horrible thing happened. She was throwing up, was howling and crying, not able to walk. We took her to the vet. He had no idea what the underlying condition was, but she was in shock, a lot of air in her belly, low temperature and slow heart rate. She got morfine. The similarities with Emmas passing was almost creepy. A few hours later she was dead. Again a big loss for our family, only 4 months after Emma passed away. It feels like she had a purpose in this world. To support us during Emma's life. Her task was accomplished. She did amazing and now she is catching mouse in cat heaven. In Memory of Vincent Coleman March 2008 - March 2024 He was the most loyal cat I have ever known. He was like MG shadow and would snuggle me every night when I got home from work. I adopted him from Buffalo SPCA in 2010. He was 2 years old at the time. My beautiful orange boy was with me through everything over the last 14 years. He was my best friend and there will never be another like him. He was the definition of a "people cat" and all of my friends adored him. He was a gentle soul and he and I were 100% in tune with each other. As he got into his later senior years he developed kidney disease and pretty severe arthritis. We had to rush him to the emergency vet where we made the extremely difficult decision to let him rest. He let us know it was time. A fost surdă, iar viața cu ea o aventură. O experiență! ❤️ I s-a mai zis Toporaș, dar n-am făcut poze cu toporașii pe motiv că o să fie timp... N-am văzut pisoi atât de lipicios. Pentru ea n-a contat că erau deja niște reguli când a venit ea și că pisicile aveau locul lor bine stabilit de dormit. Și-a făcut propriile reguli! A câștigat acolo unde nici o pisică n-a reușit! Mititica. Bostănel. Sau Bulgăraș. Sau Iubire. Ori "Ți-am repetat de un milion de ori, 'pe masa nu ai voie' sau 'cablurile nu sunt de ros'. Putea avea orice nume. Pentru ea nu conta. N-avea nevoie de vorbe. Conta să-i fim în preajmă. Mieuna tare și mult când nu ne vedea. Nu conta că era 3 noaptea. Ea mieuna. Trebuia să o căutăm noi. O găseam după mieunat. Învățase să reacționeze la lumina lanternei. Știa că la celălalt capăt suntem noi. Și venea repede bucuroasă de revedere. Probabil a reacționat la niște faruri crezând că suntem noi. Noi am fost prea târziu. Rămâne o experiență unică, probabil irepetabila. Mititica s-a dus. A iubit apa și a plouat în prima zi. Înfloresc copacii dar n-am mai apucat să o catăr pe o creangă înflorită. Și nici cu florile galbene de păpădie nu s-a mai jucat. A descoperit în toamnă o păpădie în puf și i-am povestit atunci despre gradina toată galbenă. Dar cred că tot puful zburând prin aer i-ar fi plăcut mai tare. I-am promis că se va bălăci, când va fi cald, în curte, în apa pe care s-o împrăștie peste tot. Ce i-ar mai fi plăcut asta! A iubit apa! Fiecare ploaie îmi amintește și de ea. Într-una din zilele astea a ieșit curcubeul, plouase puțin, erau stropi din apa pe care a iubit-o atât. Probabil alerga printre culorile din curcubeu după una dintre biluțele ei favorite. Mingea portocalie, de ping-pong, sta printre flori... Acolo a rămas. Nimeni n-are chef încă de joacă. Nu-i plăceau picăturile de pus în urechi, dar cumva, am reușit să facem o joacă și din asta. N-auzea, dar simțea! Era energică, și obraznică, și veselă, și iubită. A fost iubită. Aș vrea să-i fie amintire. Era peste tot. În orice colț era ea. Tortellini in Yarn Nip Heaven Gouache and colored pencil Our sweet boy Tortellini passed away a month ago due to an infection that went south fast. The fiery boy was just shy of four years old. His family was by his side hand in paw as he transcended to the celestial plane beyond our world. We buried him in the North Desert on top of a rolling hill with a mesmerizing view of the valley. Thea made him a forever crown and mama gave him herbs to aid him on his journey. We rescued him from a rough part of Bridgeport, Connecticut when he was just six weeks old back in June of 2020. That early summer morning I drove home with him on my lap tucked in a starry blanket as he nibbled on my finger. He rarely left my side from our first encounter. He routinely followed me to the loo to talk in private about the rodents and borrowers in the walls. Every morning when we opened up the living room window, he would chitter and chat with the sparrows and doves that frequented the neighbor's wisteria. He was quite the linguist and often mimicked their chirps and twitters to hilarious effect. The goofball would usually nap for most of the day and then light up the room around dinner. He was known for many zany late night yowling raves as he insisted we hear his lectures at the witching hour. He will always be our wiley adventurous lad. Now he can frolic freely with fellow felines and other kind creatures sans the complications of this crazy world. Thank you for the smiles and chaos you brought our family Tortoise.
