A few years ago I painted a vintage Louis Vuitton and I hated how it came out. The paint didn’t adhere correctly to the canvas and I needed to perfect my process. This shelf is my happy place; being intentional about my things & decorating with purpose with what make me smile. The glass float took us over five years to “find.” We finally found one this summer on our annual Block Island trip ( thank you to the @theglassfloatproject ) and my daughter was over the moon. I’ll never forget it. Next to it, sits a framed picture of my grandmother in front of one of the ferries that go to and from the Island daily. A framed sailing painting I created last summer when our little took sailing classes, I wanted to create something to remember how much fun she had & how in disbelief I was that she was starting Kindergarten. I’ve been taking my daughter for walks on St. Pete beach before she could even crawl. As she got older, she began to admire the Don Cesar and the beautiful architectural elements to it. She called it the pink castle and we played along and told her it looks so beautiful because “princesses live there”. The Don Cesar is has several great restaurants, pools, a spa and of course the beach! Our daughter thinks that Princesses live here (and maybe they do 😉) because of the beautiful architecture and magnitude of it!

And I might be a little jealous!! … … … This was in Chania, Crete. We took a private boat for the day and went to Balos beach. The water was so pretty and crazy clear. The captain even took us to another island a little farther away to explore. I even found a piece of ancient pottery that my husband insisted I throw back into the ocean because he said no way was in “ancient”. Sure enough after visiting the museum back in Chania, they have found lots of other ancient pottery pieces where we were and recreate the pottery for display- oops! This is probably one of the best decisions we made when we redid our backyard a few year ago. If you don’t already have an outdoor shower, get one! It is so refreshing showering outside, not to mention the amount of times we’ve come home from the boat, beach or pool and can easily rinse off chairs, toys and ourselves selves without bringing any sand inside. ... ... ... We remodeled our backyard after living here for a few years. We purchased a house that was in good shape, it was just outdated, the back yard especially. We put a plan together, zoned out areas and studied different landscaping options. We did most of it ourselves because I’m a firm believer in learning by doing, and you won’t learn it if you don’t try. So last year around this time, I was prepping my audition tape for @nbcmakingit. I hand painted wooden Easter eggs, made a table scape with paper flowers, handmade hanging wreaths and book art, all finished with a hand painted backdrop. It was meant for my daughter and her friends to enjoy and was so much fun! ... ... ... I ended up scoring a 2nd audition and then a 3rd! Unfortunately I didn’t get cast for the show (this time around) but I’ll just try out again next time! Fun fact, before I had my daughter I did a lot of decorating and set styling for TV. It was fun and at times hard work, but making things “TV ready” was something that has always stuck with me, even when I design my own space. Great decor needs to be functional but also look great. Good lighting and props definitely help too! ... ... ... We live in a typical ranch style home, and so many houses here in Florida still have these vintage 50’s tiles. I don’t hate them, so I decided to work with them for our small bathroom remodel. Here is a list of the updates; ✔️I took out the glass shower doors and opted for a curved curtain that’s makes the shower feel bigger. ✔️I replaced the toilet. ✔️I added new matte black hardware on the cabinets and coordinating matte black faucet. ✔️I installed a new “nautical” looking light. ✔️I took down the dated wallpaper and replaced it with new “wave paper”. ✔️I added new artwork and decor ... ... .... I think this bathroom is so fun. The whimsical wallpaper looks great with the new lighting and artwork. Do you have a space with fun wallpaper? We have typical Florida 1950’s bathrooms, and we don’t plan on removing the tile. Someone told me once that the vintage square tiles (which are super hard and heavy to take out) were put in so that you can use them as a safe room for hurricanes and tornadoes?
