This is a throwback photo from my (Dr. Muir Kjesbo's) installation service as a professor at Bethel in 2005. While I started at Bethel Seminary in 2000 I did not achieve the rank of full Professor until 2005. At that point Bethel Seminary hosted a very meaningful installation service. It has been my joy to serve at Bethel Seminary - starting year 25! . I was initially in discipleship and educational ministries of the church. Bethel gave me the opportunity to focus in on children's and family ministry. I believe children's, youth and family is the MOST important ministry focus of the church which leads to lasting transformation! . Family ministry has changed so much since 2005. But what has not changed is my passion for training and inspiring others. My fellow authors and I love equipping others who serve children and families in the church, which is why we wrote this book together. . What is the deciding factor in a faith that remains alive and vibrant for a lifetime verses a faith that fizzles out? Have you ever wondered? I have. In my studies of apologetics at Colorado Christian University, I had a profound revelation as I researched the primary approaches for defending the Christian faith. These methods varied greatly. Some of them seem to be diametrically opposed to one another. The Classical method starts with natural theology (what we discover about God from the natural world) and then progresses to proving Christian theology. The Evidential method relies heavily on miracles as evidence. The Cumulative method offers a smorgasbord of arguments from various areas of study and thought while the Presuppositional method skips those arguments and presupposes God’s existence altogether. And the Reformed Epistemological method (say that 5 times really fast) focusses on the way that people acquire their beliefs. Like I said, these approaches are very different. BUT… they all agree on one thing. There is one defense of the faith that each method gives preeminence to, and that defense is the secret to maintaining a lifelong faith. So what is it?
