The somewhat boring scramble up the big hump of Pennsylvania Mountain is rewarded by stunning views toward the mountain range rising to the east of Breckenridge-bound Hwy 9 and across the vast South Mosquito Creek basin lined by Mosquito Range peaks to the north and NW. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a bunch of mining equipment and structures littered across the basin and at the feet of the freestanding 4,000+ m London Mountain. While the former exploitation of this peaceful-looking land irked me, I found the history sprawled out in front of me intriguing. Must Visit This is one of the least visited and most underrated national parks in Colorado - the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. ๐พ(๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ) Despite its stunningly dramatic 2,000-foot-deep canyon, the park receives fewer visitors than many other national parks in Colorado. We love visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, so here are a few of our family favorite trails in the park. 1. Rim Rock Trail: this is an easy 1.5-mile round-trip trail offers stunning views of the canyon and is suitable for children of all ages. This Trail is located within the South Rim section of the Black Canyon National Park. 2. Oak Flat Loop Trail: is an easy 1.5-mile loop trail thatโs is also located in the South Rim Campground. 3. Warner Point Nature Trail: this is easy 1.5-mile round-trip trail offers great views of the canyon and is located at the end of the North Rim Road. 4. Cedar Point Nature Trail: easy 0.5-mile round-trip trail is located at the Cedar Point Picnic Area. Itโs important to note that while these trails (in my opinion) is considered family/ kid-friendly, you should always use caution and follow park rules and guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
