Day 14 of Supercharge Your Art in 14 Days by @katiejoblingart - mixed media 🎨 I absolutely loved this lesson! 😍 It was the last lesson in the course and I really liked that it combined everything that was covered in the course but also added playfulness and experimentation into the process 😊 The piece I created was inspired by the view from my kitchen window. I put a lavender plant on the window sill today and when I looked at it again with the garden in the background lit by the late afternoon sun I fell in love with the view 🥰 I even said to my husband that this window with the view was so beautiful that I wanted to create a painting of it. Well, I did what I said 😅 For this mixed media artwork I used charcoal, watercolours, acrylics and soft pastels. I have already prepared another page in my sketchbook for a new mixed media painting because this was so much fun! 😍 Who knows, maybe this will be the beginning of something new 😉 I am so happy I took this course! I noticed my skills have improved and now I have tons of ideas of how to use my sketchbook. C O L O U R M I X I N G T I P ! Just had a lovely afternoon in the studio finishing a painting. A couple of the things I like to do after a painting session is to wipe the brushes used onto a spare canvas. This canvas then becomes the basis for another painting! The paint I have left over on the palette (if it’s lots) it gets scooped up and put into a container with an airtight lid. If it’s just a the left over daubs of paint, I like to mix them up and see what colour combinations can be made. Often this is the spark for another painting :) actually like the neutral tones this palette created today! Day 61/100 for the #the100dayproject Catching up. Another big color wheel, 20cm ○. Here we have the second one with non-traditional one that I have posted before, see previous post. Ive said before that the Payne's grey had too little blue in it, so I bought a more expensive one @araacrylics. And the other two colors are Light Gold and Yellow Ochre. I love this wheel too, with again interesting colors, and indeed this one has more blue in it compared to the previous one. The mixes with the grey mixed with white are also nice. Developing fine motor skills ❤️🧡💛💚💙 A Woodlander took an interest in a spray bottle so we gave the children coloured water, spray bottles and some syringes to use on the windows. The children found the syringes a challenge, but quickly picked up the skill they needed to operate them. I’ve been snatching time to create between appointments, painting in the kitchen, pottering in the garden, watching the light and ‘sensing place’. This morning it was early and the light was delicious. My attention was drawn to the shadows and play between the object and its attached shadow. Geometric shapes and linear structures. All whilst listening to the birds and watching their movements. I then made it into the studio to experiment with flour paste for a good hour or so. Love how our art work turned out for #worldearthday 🌍💜 we used sponges to mix shades of green and blue on to a round piece of card. (Still some water pick and coldwork required...) ∆ These two hexagons were cast using custom blocks fused from Bullseye sheet glass (rather than billet). >>> Pic 2 shows the edge of the first block - so you can see there really are three individual colours (there are clear layers too...). ∆ There is more yellow to the green where the glass is thickest. Here's the first of my seaside inspired cushions. This one is photographed ON the beach! This was an experiment in colour mixing - cream, gold and orange. As it's knitted in 2 strands of yarn it has a chunky feel, and knitted in rows of colour rather than squares. It's 12 x 12 inches with a firm feather pad. 5 wooden buttons close it securely. The smaller buttons are set a little lower to add interest.
