Eighteen87 🥂 Located by Laira Bridge, Eighteen87 is a relatively new family run gastropub serving delicious pub classics. We chose to eat in their bar area for a warm atmosphere, this area is also dog friendly which is perfect for after a walk at the near by National Trust park, Saltrum! We went for their beer battered haddock with triple cooked chips, mushy peas and the fish shop classics, pickled egg and onion. The fish was super fresh and lightly battered and the chips were just 😍 triple cooked chips are the elite style of chips in my opinion! We also had their sunblush tomato risotto with samphire, olives and cavalo nero with added halloumi. This was a fab portion size with Mediterranean style flavours. Last Sundays brunch club booking agreed for me to change my dessert slightly from French toast to the viral crispy croissant trend and I think it’s better tbh. Roll out a croissant until very flat (scroll across) and then I pan-fry it in butter, brown sugar and honey on both sides until golden, then allow to cool and go nice and crispy. Topped with sweetened whipped vanilla mascarpone, berries, salted caramel, chocolate sauce, hazelnut praline and edible flowers from the garden. It seemed to go down a treat with my guests ☺️ My brunch menus, like my other menus, can be booked any day of the week, but Friday and Saturday availability is very limited in May - Saturday 11th or Friday 31st.
