Westminster Abbey dates to around 960 A.D. and has been the site for every coronation since 1066. The abbey was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 13th century and was consecrated on October 13th, 1259. It’s one of my favorite buildings and looked so beautiful in the glow of golden hour when I took this last May.

The real wine fair. What. A. Day. So many amazing producers, great talks, delicious food (absolute shout for having raclette there), and everyone I met was super friendly. Absolute highlight was going through the wines of @woodfine.wine and being genuinely lost for words at one point (yes, THAT good). Offbeat wines were absolutely en pointe, @lost_in_a_field pet nats really are next level (and the story behind each wine is mega, go check it out). So quite frankly I should probably just list all the English producers there today, we are making SUCH good wines here. However I also have to shout out the brilliant wines coming from Greece, Slovenia and Slovakia. If I could have a week I still wouldn’t have been able to come close to trying all the wines I wanted to, I didn’t even get round to the Spanish producers 🫠 Amazing day, incredibly inspirational. Hopefully one day you’ll see me pouring rather than tasting!

It’s always a joy to guide on the old 1960's Routemaster buses. The safety attendant had purchased the genuine uniform, ticket dispenser, and ticket paper from the era. Apparently, there is still a lot of Route master gear in circulation, which just goes to show the success of this masterpiece of public transport. Routemasters were used in regular service with Transport for London from 1956-2005! They are now only available for private hire, due to their high maintenance costs. Ramen, video games (not seen), cocktails. Met up with friend in London. Met up in Soho. We were going to go the Ramen Moto but they were closed as had issue with delivery of ramen. Since we were in mood for ramen, we ended up going to Ippudo which was nearby. I had the Shitomaru Tamago, which is the classic one but with nitamago (marinated soft boiled egg). After we went to a video game place where I was rubbish at some Sega driving game. Then cocktails in one of the Mr Fogg bars (I had the Bazaar Curio cocktail). Never heard of them before but quite interesting bars. Named after Phileas Fogg, the explorer. Each bar has different theme. We were in the Pawnbrokers one. Lots of interesting things. It’s always good to have company in the vineyard. We have plenty of creepy-crawlies to keep me company, although some bring more benefit than others. The worms keep our soil really healthy, the spiders keep other bugs at bay. A big part of what I believe in is keeping the vineyard healthy and harmonious. What comes from the ground goes back in, everything gets composted so it can go back into the soil in future years. No fertilizers, just compost and well rotted manure. Minimizing or completely avoiding any sort of sprays keeps things in balance, and ensures the soil stays healthy year after year. It also allows the area to become a safe haven for bees and other pollinators. Whilst the recent hail caused a bit of damage, growth has been good and we’ve avoided any frosts. Hopefully we get a bit more sunshine going forward!

My latest obsession, I visited @chaiguysbakehouse four times since they’ve opened on Portobello Road. I can’t get enough of the warm, cosy space that gets flooded by the morning light. The staff are super friendly, the chai is comforting and delicious (can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can enjoy the iced version) and the pastries are up there with the best bakeries in London. Between Chai Guys Bakehouse and Layla I have been hanging out in Notting Hill almost every weekend lately and I just love the vibe of the area. In this poem, he questions why religious worship should be grounded in earthly suffering and suggests a benevolent God would rather see his children warm and fed, as they might be in a pub. Today, Soho’s concentration of pubs significantly outnumbers that of its churches, though in recent times its bohemian spirit has been chiselled away by property investors, rising prices and mismanagement by local authorities. Summer sunrise in London… Thought I’d pivot away from the west of Ireland shots for a bit with some scenes captured from my current home city. Took an early morning cycle into central London over the summer to catch the 5am sunrise. It was an incredible experience to catch these areas at their quietest, and is the best time to explore the centre of the city. I’ve heard a lot of people speak of how the business of London really gets to them….these shots show you can get some peace and solitude even in the busiest of cities, especially if you’re up this early! There’s something about the early morning sun and stillness too that brings me so much contentment.
