Iโve been to at NUMEROUS locations across WDW, but California Grill has to be one of, if not, my favorite!โจ๐ฐ๐ฝ๏ธ I really LOVED how they were able to create a really scaled, intimate experience without it feeling โuptightโ like some others CAN be!!! The food (coming soon!) was PHENOMENAL, taking the elevator to the very top, watching HEA out the glass wall or outside felt so intimate, couples AND families were here, and honestly even the dining room itself was smaller than expected. Our server, Rachel from Vero Beach, was a SUPERSTAR! She gave really thoughtful suggestions, shared many facts with us, asked about my time with Disney, and was so easy to befriend. Again- spectacular experience that felt special, but not โoverdone.โ๐คฉ I will say, I was surprised to see so many familiesโฆ maybe half?! I didnโt take it to be โfamily-friendlyโ by what Iโve seen online/heard, but there were definitely groups who brought children. I donโt recall it being disruptive, but was something take I noticed. We did see one little girl wrapped up in a clean tablecloth away in a nap๐ญ

๐จ Foodie Friday โผ๏ธ Today we are reviewing a restaurant that we heard very mixed reviews for, The California Grill. I had heard from many people that this restaurant can be very hit or miss but I am pleased to say that our experience was a HIT ๐คค First off, the view from this place is insane. They have two observation decks where you can look out at Magic Kingdom and you can even watch the fireworks from here. The menu was just recently revamped and now offers a 3-course prefix meal for $90 pp. Amanda and I both started with one of their most popular dishes, the braised beef wontons. These were absolutely to DIE for. The first words out of Amandaโs mouth was โWOWโ. These were soft, salty, sweet, tangy. Unreal. I could have eaten 100 of these and that Doenjang-miso-cola-onion sauce they were served onโฆ.. 10/10 I was having a hard time deciding what to order but when I saw a waiter walk by with the Venison I had to have it. Perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful. Truly exceptional, and the sauces were fantastic. Amanda went with the chicken but was no ordinary chicken. It was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, served over the best peas (yes I said peas) Iโve ever had. The star of her plate though were the morel and other forest mushrooms which I could have easily ate for an entree by themselves. Iโve always wanted to try real morels and they were out of this world. Dish was well seasoned and balanced. Lastly for desert, Amanda went for a lighter choice and ordered the Meyer Lemon Chiffon Cake which was light, refreshing, not too sweet or tart. Just a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. I went out of my comfort zone a little and tried the peanut and banana torte. Iโm not usually a big fan of peanut butter deserts but Iโm a sucker for caramelized bananas. This was fan-freaking-tastic as well. The waiter even brought us a complimentary piece of funfetti cake and who doesnโt love funfetti?? The Rainbow Roll from California Grill really lives up to its name. It's SO colorful (and so tasty)! ๐ฃ Even though it's not marked GF on the restaurant's allergy-friendly menu, the Rainbow Roll and most of the sushi options can be made GF. Usually, a sauce is the only modification or it just needs to be served with GF tamari. We recommend asking your server or a chef about which ones are safe for your special dietary needs. โ This dish can be made gluten free and is marked safe for milk and peanut/tree nut options. Dine in California Grill in @waltdisneyworld Contemporary Resort. On the 50th Anniversary Celebration menu, you will find this beautifully presented dish. This is the Cascade Roll. It is made from Tuna, Salmon and Hamachi Poke, Jicama, Cucumber, Yuzu-Avocado Purรฉe, Masago Arare, Soy Gel. My sushi-eating husband gave this dish a 10/10. There is still a bit more time to join in the 50th Anniversary celebration! Reservations strongly recommend for this restaurant.

You can enjoy a nice relaxing meal and watch the special fireworks show. Minnieโs Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks fill the skies over the Magic Kingdom starting at 10:00 PM. We had a meal at one of Disneyโs signature restaurants California Grill last night. This has been on our bucket list for a long time and feel very grateful to have experienced such a meal. We were celebrating chantelโs birthday so was a great excuse to splurge on this experience. I donโt even know where to start by telling you how great this place is. The focaccia bread to start was delicious, we then had braised beef short rib wontons, a fillet steak which melted in your mouth and crรจme brรปlรฉe and a chocolate torte. I ordered a birthday cake in advance to the trip which we ended up asking to box up as we were full. It meant so much to me. My husband and I had our wedding reception here and to be able to come back to enjoy the menu again was just perfect. You got an appetizer, entree and dessert for $89 (plus tax and gratuity). This was a great experience and you got access to watch the fireworks! โฃ โฃ For appetizers, we got the Lobster and Parsnip Bisque (9/10 definitely recommend) and the Braised Beef Short Rib Wontons (6/10, get the bisque). For my entree I got the Oak-fired Filet of Beef, which was one of the best steaks Iโve ever had. If you go there and eat any time during the day hang on to that receipt and you can go back and watch the fireworks from there. They tune in to the music too!
