Three excellent American wines with age… 1994 Williams Selyem Rochioli Riverblock - Lovely nose with notes of strawberries, forest, sous bois, pine needles, red cherries, and eucalyptus. Good acidity with red berries, cherries, and blood orange on the palate. Nice finish. What a beautiful CA Pinot! This has aged really well and is probably drinking at peak now. Perfectly balanced, slightly earthy and savory, but with a hint of sweet fruit. 1986 Dunn Napa Valley - Pretty nose with menthol, leather, red fruit, cassis, earth, and pepper. Good acidity with cherries, more fruit, leather, underwood, and just a hint of sweetness on the palate. Nice finish. This was very impressive. Starting to show some tertiary notes but there is so much fruit left. Should continue to age beautifully. 2002 Dominus - Intense nose with lots of fruit, dark berries, cassis, blackberries, tobacco, and earth. Medium acidity with quite a bit of tannins, black cherries, and more blackberries and tobacco on the palate. Finish is quite long. This is a rich, ripe, and big wine but it’s actually quite balanced. Still, it feels much too young.
