Sled: 160lbs pushing and pulling x3 Assisted pull-ups: 80lbs x3 Assisted dips: 80lbs x3 Hamstring extensions: 120lbs x3 Adductor machine: 120lbs x3 I guess my tendency to do slow reps is paying off, I always felt that fast reps use momentum more, and don’t give as good of a workout. Slow reps, especially locking at various points helps a lot. Form > Weight I cannot stress how important this is specially as we get older. Never sacrifice your form. The Pull up. One of the most effective exercises for building back strength and size, as well as improving your ability to move your own body in space. _ However, people want to progress straight to the pull-up without developing adequate strength and movement quality. This leads to these big, ugly swinging motion attempts at pull ups we see all too often. _ If you’re intention is to build strength and size, the thought process has to be “use your muscles, not momentum”. I’m not just trying to travel from A to B in whatever manner I can. _ Key points to perfecting the pull-up 1️⃣ Create as much tension in your body as you can. Take a big breath in tuck your ribs down, flex every muscle in your body. This means you aren’t pulling dead weight up with you. 2️⃣ Instead of trying to pull yourself to the bar, think about pulling your elbows down to the floor and into your sides. The Back Extension (45° Hyperextension) is a great exercise to build stability and strength in your back. — 1️⃣ Start by adjusting the hyperextension bench so that your ankles are tucked under the footpads and your thighs are across the top pad. A couple of weeks ago we were overwhelmed by the amount of support we had to find travel after Momentum Coach Hire let us down 2 days prior to an away game. They promised us a full refund on 19th September and THEY HAVE NOT!!! Yeovil Rugby Club and one of our coaches who paid the initial deposit are really out of pocket and phoning them doesn't seem to help! Wide grip Lat pulldown is one of my favourite exercises for the back. If you notice I don't use the pads to lock in my legs. This takes tension off the muscles therefore not getting the most benefit from the exercise. I don't lean back as I pull the bar towards my chest either. I see everyone in the gym doing this. It means the muscles are only doing half the work and the other half is momentum. You may be able to pull more weight but your not developing the muscle properly. Rant over.
