We have mounted the slate Seashells sign hand painted by @studio__emprove on the outside of the house rather than have it leaning in the bow window. Hopefully people will find it easier to find the house now. To get to Seashells you turn off the main road through Camber down a really tiny bumpy sandy track next to the post office and opposite the launderette. Then you have to take the first left down another unmade lane which is sandy in summer and full of rain pools in the winter. Some people instantly like that it’s unmade and a no-through road. Others get a little concerned about their undercarriage or their socks. Kids tend to have the right idea and splash through in spring! Now the holiday camp in Camber has closed the little cut through to the beach will be used less than ever. It’s incredibly quiet and calm on our road, First Avenue, and for dog owners there’s a nice route to the wide dog permitted expanse of beach via the next cul de sac Second Avenue. The area has a little cluster of nicely done up homes and holidays cottages and we were really pleased and surprised when we found Seashells. We didn’t know Camber had these little hidden corners with pieces of history like our seashell adorned garden walls, which there is a Pathe News Reel about on the BFI website. Anyway if you’d like to enjoy this newfound warmth we are currently enjoying we have a few short stays throughout May and then longer ones as we progress into June and July and the summer holidays. Rates vary between £140 and £180 per midweek nights and weekends beween £530 and £580. Sleeps 5-8 May 1-3, 11-15, 17-20 June 8-11, 14-16, 20-28, 30 July 1-5, 7-14, August 1-5, 10-12, 16-27 September 3-6, 8-13, 15-30 School holidays during those longer stretches have a 1 week minimum. It was wet & a bit grey in not so sunny Hastings this afternoon but it was just what the doctor ordered after a pretty intense but amazingly brilliant morning in the office. Porthcurno Beach is one of the most stunning beaches in the world and is a must for us on every stay. From seal spotting to surfing or just relaxing on the beach it has everything covered and when the weather isn’t great there is @pkporthcurno , another Cornwall gem, especially in the school holidays when they put on free kids workshops. Something a tad different - we popped down to our homeland, Devon, at the weekend. A very quick visit, sadly. One of my best friends is getting married this week and we had a gorgeous pre-wedding meal sans children. It was so good to get together and talk and laugh without interruptions. When we left the restaurant and walked across the bridge over the harbour I saw a bird and said “ooh look a barn owl!” 🤣😆 It was a seagull, of course it was! I’m so used to living in the countryside now that seagulls seem foreign to me 😆 Oh we did laugh! I’ve just had surgery in my mouth (tooth related) and I’m sat here in my gown and stockings at 9.30pm looking through Instagram, stocking up on inspiration and ideas. There’s so many amazing profiles and ideas… I’ve been sucked into the work of wallpaper and I’m not overwhelmed and don’t know what to choose. The best dilemma to have, I think! Goodnight ✨♥️✨
