Day 2 of #memademay! It’s incredibly stormy here and I did not feel like getting dressed, but I actually feel pretty good now that I am. (Funny how that happens.) Wearing my newest handmade @hisydgraham #rubyvest made from @merchantandmills cotton twill that I was gifted by someone on the @lucky.sweater app and lined with @fluidplusdrape cotton flannel. This was my third Ruby vest, and my first time quilting using cotton batting! This is a great pattern, and all three of my vests turned out well, which is amazing considering I had only been sewing for four months when I made my first one. I modified my first two with a loop instead of the ties, but I went with ties on this one and love the detail more than I thought I would! Which side do we like better?

🌸 It’s the beginning of Me Made May and what better way to start the month than to wear a shirt I made back in February. 🙃 This is the Kimono shirt by @unfetteredpatterns and it’s a free pattern. The fabric is a gorgeous cotton lawn from @califabrics that I knew I had to make into a spring/summer shirt the moment I saw it! This pattern is meant to be an oversized shirt but I chose to grade in about 3 inches on the sides. The instructions are extremely sparse. It literally says “Make the collar and attach to the stand”. 🤷♀️ Luckily I had made three collared shirts before this, so I took out those instructions and followed them. I would say it’s perfectly safe for beginners, the seams run straight and no hiccups. I picked a rather stiff cotton fabric but with a couple of washes I’m sure it’ll soften. I do recommend using a lightweight or more fluid cotton fabric. 👍🏻 When I saw this pattern I instantly thought about our time in Asia and the style of clothes they wear. This is always a big month with Mother's Day, my birthday, and Me Made May shenanigans. 😂 Showing off my version of the brand new, highly-anticipated and very lovely @yoursara_k Tie Dress seems like a marvelous way to start things off. 💕 Very satisfying and straightforward sew. This is a straight size 4 with no changes to the pattern and it took me a little over 2 yards cutting on the fold. J'ai eu la chance de tester le nouveau patron tie dress de @yoursara_k qui sort aujourd'hui avec un vieux tissu de ma grand mère magnifique effet lin et les chutes d'un rideau en coton pour les poches et la doublure poitrine/col. Les instructions et le patron sont très simples à suivre même en anglais en sachant qu'une vidéo sort aussi avec toutes les explications. La taille est trop grande pour moi, c'est normal mais cela a été rectifié. À mes ciseaux bientôt pour essayer d'enlever un peu de surplus tout en gardant quand même un maximum de confort. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT HAVING A CREATIVE HOBBY HAS MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS (Department of Health and Aged Care, Australian Government). As a working mom of 3 little boys under 7 years old, the mental load is heavy. Even though I am exhausted at the end of the day, my mind continues to race with everything that has to be done. Because sewing requires deep focus, it quietens my mind. It forces me to slow down, be present, and pay attention to what I am doing, or risk making a mistake and having to unpick 😂 During my time spent sewing, nothing else exists. I am able to finally relax, slow down, and enjoy the process of creating something from nothing. No overstimulation from blue screens, just me, my creativity and the meditative sound of the sewing machine. And the best part of it all is that I will have something to show for it at the end! More progress is happening on my towel scrap busting new product idea. I’ve done quite a bit of sewing today, as I’ve needed to do this today. I’m needing quiet time as the end of last week was awful. I think I know what day of the week it is, the last few days have rolled into one. Grief can do weird things to you and this has hit me completely differently to what I had expected. Feeling quite numb, not sure it’s sunk in. Anyway, I enjoyed sewing today. Come faccio abitualmente con tutte le mie creazioni, ho voluto dedicare una storia a questa mia realizzazione, un racconto che arriva direttamente dal mio cuore.❤️🧙🏻♀️ ✨ L’incantesimo delle Ali di Farfalla ✨ Terra Luna, il cratere della congrega delle streghe bianche La leggenda narra che i bambini, attendano sulla Luna il momento del loro arrivo qui, sulla Terra e che, ogni piccola nuova vita attraverso la volontà dei propri genitori, scelga il simbolo attraverso il quale racconterà il proprio viaggio attraverso la via lattea fino a raggiungere il nostro pianeta Terra. Questa attesa è caratterizzata dalla preparazione a questo viaggio. Le Donne più anziane,infatti, quando vengono chiamate nella loro missione di “accompagnatrici al passaggio”, usano radunarsi intorno al cratere più antico della Luna affinché possano diventare le testimoni della traversata che, presto, le giovani anime dovranno vivere. Si racconta che, su questo pianeta, il tempo scorra ad una velocità molto diversa rispetto a quello sulla Terra. Tutto è più lento, morbido. Magico. Esistono testimonianze che narrano di come “quella dolce luce argentea”, che riecheggia in quell’ovunque, sia in grado di donare a questo luogo un’atmosfera fiabesca, quasi mistica.
