Hack your cycle for productivity Similar to what we discussed last week regarding the moon and its potential to unlock your inner productivity, you can also do this with our female cycle. There are certain times of the month due to different hormones being produced where you can utilize the boost in productivity to further yourself in your business. And there are times during the month, where you need to rest and relax (you guessed it too, this is the time when you have your period!!). There are 4 phases of the female monthly cycle, lasting approximately 29 days (which ironically the same length of the moon cycle- are they related? perhaps!). The phases are: ⭐Follicular- this is the phase where your creative genius comes out to play. Tap into that genius during days 6-14 of your cycle. ⭐Ovulatory- This short phase (days 15-17) is an excellent time for communication. This may be time to have a difficult conversation or ask for something important (like a raise!). ⭐Luteal- This is your POWER phase. You are ready to get SH*T done and on point, task oriented and cross those to-do’s off your list. (days 18-28) ⭐Menstruation- No ones favroite phase- although it is a good time for you to take a step back, relax and reflect on what you’ve accomplished during the rest of your cycle. Listen to any gut feelings during days 1-5. So not only do we have the moon to follow, but you can also hack your own female cycle to increase your productivity in your business. How cool is this all?? **Part of my “what I learned from my coaches” series** I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! #smallbusinesssupport #smallbusinesssupport #virtualassistance #virtualassistant #vaforcoaches #postpartumspecialist #bossmomVA #womanscycle #periodpower #superheromom #hackyourcycle #productivityhacks #productivitytips #virtualassistanttips #entrepreneur #mamapreneur #momshelpingmoms #momssupportingmoms

As a medical doctor practising in the UK, Dr Hazel Wallace started noticing that women were not given the same consideration and treatment when it came to health and healthcare. Yes, we are living longer, she says, ‘but with poorer health – and so I really wanted to understand why this was. I was noticing little biases in how we treat male and female patients in the hospital as well, so I stepped into the research and just opened this minefield of how much disparity there is in healthcare.’ Read all about the male bias, how to advocate for yourself and cycle syncing in the March/April issue, out now! #femalefactor #hackyourcycle #cyclesyncing #malebias #medicalbias #health #womenshealth #heartdisease #mensturalcycle #menstrualhealth

Back for some more: what I learned from my postpartum coaches/mom coaches. ⁣ ⁣ Last week we talked about how a man's and woman's hormonal schedule differ and how it relates to the 9-5 work day. Now knowing that a woman's hormones fluctuate greatly over the course of her 28 day cycle, this week we're going to explode the benefit of that. ⁣ ⁣ While these fluctuations might sometimes feel like a rollercoaster, they offer some remarkable advantage: ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Enhanced Energy and Productivity: Women often experience a surge in energy and productivity during the follicular phase (days 1-14) of their cycle, coinciding with rising estrogen levels. This can be an excellent time for tackling projects, workouts, and creative endeavors with a newfound vigor!⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Heightened Social Skills and Empathy: As estrogen levels rise, so does our ability to connect and empathize with others. Studies suggest that during the follicular phase, women tend to be more socially outgoing and receptive, making it an ideal time for networking and building relationships.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Optimal Cognitive Functioning: Research indicates that women's cognitive abilities, such as memory and verbal skills, may peak during the follicular phase when estrogen levels are at their highest. This can translate to sharper focus and improved problem-solving abilities.⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Increased Metabolism and Fat Burning: During the follicular phase, women's bodies are primed for metabolic efficiency, making it easier to burn fat and maintain a healthy weight. Pair this with a balanced diet and regular exercise for optimal results!⁣ ⁣ Embracing and understanding our natural rhythms can empower us to harness our strengths and navigate life with greater ease. Whether you're a woman embracing your 28-day cycle or an ally supporting someone who is, let's celebrate the beauty of our biological diversity. ⁣ ⁣ #postpartummom #postpartumsupport #postpartumspecialist #hackyourcycle #knowyourcycle #mamapreneur #periodpower #momshelpingmoms #momcoach #lactationconsultant #infantsleepspecialist

Current research does not conclusively show that hormonal fluctuations significantly affect training performance or adaptation. There is no evidence to recommend that people adapt training based on menstrual cycle phase. The majority of studies looking into performance based on cycle phase have only found trivial results, again with studies being of such pee poor quality, general recommendations should just not be made. No one gets to tell you how you should feel, or how you should exercise during each phase of your menstrual cycle. The only regular thing about a menstrual cycle, is its irregularity. Everyone experiences a different degree of symptoms and some people don't experience any symptoms at all. It is really important to note that your PERCEPTION of menstrual symptoms can play an important role. For example, If someone has told you that you won't perform well during x phase, then it's likely that psychology will get the better of you and you will end up confirming this bias. If I see one more video claiming to help you hack your cortisol or sync your cycle from unqualified individuals I will... Do absolutely nothing because I am powerless to stop them other than reminding you that these are marketing strategies not based on evidence or medical science. There are various diagnosable disorders which involve hormone abnormalities but these require medical intervention with carefully selected lifestyle changes based on each individual. However these are not the conditions that wellness w*nkers are talking about. Claims that fatigue, acne, headaches and weight gain etc are a sign that your hormones are not aligned with Jupiter's 95 moons and that eating certain foods and doing the 'right' exercises at the 'right' times is absolute nonsense. Other than waving red flags high, many of the lifestyle suggestions are completely privileged, involving expensive supplements and the luxury of rescheduling your entire day. Feeling better for adjusting your behaviours around how you feel is just being a PERSON and its not always possible bc LIFE. There are so many existing barriers to exercise, it is frustrating to think that a layer is being added to that by the idea that it has to be the 'right' exercise at the 'right' time in order for it to be beneficial. Please stop it. #evidencebasedfitness #bodyneutrality #trainhappy #pregnantexercise #weightliftingtips #weightliftingcoach #strengthcoach #coreexercises #strongcore #joyfulmovement #intuitiveeatingofficial #injuryrehab #painrehab #fitnessforbeginners #beginnersfitness #healthandwellbeing #antidietculture #antidiet #physicalactivity #postpartumfitnessjourney #preandpostnataltrainer #hackyourcycle #period #periodpain #periodtalk #perioddrama #periodpositive #menstrualcycle #menstrualhealth #dietculture #antidietculture

HACK YOUR PERIOD? Some very small, preliminary studies concluded that muscle strength and size could be gained more efficiently by training during the follicular phase compared to the luteal phase. Despite the fact they didn't use an accurate measure for which phase participants were in and just assumed they all had an exact 28 day cycle, making the results piss poor... The fitness industry has OF COURSE gone absolutely wild over this and recommendations to train differently at different phases of your cycle and claims to 'hack' your period are now incredibly popular. The majority of studies looking into performance based on cycle phase have only found trivial results, again with studies being of such pee poor quality, general recommendations should just not be made. Basically, you don't need to grind your exercise routine down to a halt during a specific phase unless of course YOU want to. Our bodies are incredible, and our menstrual cycles offer a unique rhythm that can be harnessed for peak productivity. Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5): During your period, it's crucial to listen to your body's need for rest and self-care. Give yourself permission to slow down, reflect, and recharge. 🧘‍♀️ Follicular Phase (Days 6-14): As estrogen levels rise, you'll likely feel a surge of energy and creativity. Use this time for brainstorming, setting goals, and tackling challenging tasks. 💡 Ovulatory Phase (Days 15-17): With peak estrogen, you're at your most sociable and persuasive. Leverage this phase for meetings, networking, and collaborative projects. 🤝 Luteal Phase (Days 18-28): As progesterone increases, you may notice a desire for organization and structure. Dive into detail-oriented work, complete tasks, and plan for the future. 📊 By understanding and respecting these phases, you can optimize your productivity and well-being throughout the month. Remember, it's not about fighting your cycle but working with it. 🌸

Do you crave chocolate on your period? You’re not alone! Nearly 50% of women report the need to indulge at the start of their menstrual cycle, and there is a scientific reason behind this. Chocolate, specifically coca, is high in magnesium, which your body typically runs low on when you’re premenstrual. Help satisfy your cravings by eating dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate, as well as other magnesium rich foods including spinach and whole grains. Extra tip: maintaining your magnesium levels can help decrease other PMS symptoms such as headaches, lethargy and cramps Make sure to talk to your health professional about what type of magnesium is right for you! #ballarat #ballaratchiropractor #ballaratchirocentre #ballaratchiro #womenshealth #womenshealthweek #poweryourhealth #hackyourcycle #periods #periodquestions #periodmyths

Did you know your menstrual cycle could affect your exercise performance? The fluctuation in levels of estrogen and progesterone throughout your cycle are believed to be responsible for changes in strength, metabolism, inflammation, body temperature, fluid balance & injury risk. Here is a guide for exercising during your cycle: On day 1-2 of your period estrogen and progesterone levels are at their lowest, so you may feel lethargic. Stick to lighter exercise such as swimming, cycling, walking and yoga. During the late follicular phase (day 7-11) estrogen is high, so you’re more energised, recover quicker from exercise and burn more fat. This is the best time to perform higher intensity workouts and when you will see the biggest gains in strength training. Around ovulation (day 12-16) estrogen peaks, which can make ligaments and tendons more lax and increase your risk of injury. Progesterone peaks the week before your period, so muscle recovery is slower and body temperature will rise. Avoid endurance training, exercising in the heat and make sure to take more rest days. Light aerobic exercise may help with PMS symptoms here. #ballarat #ballaratchiropractor #ballaratchirocentre #ballaratchiro #womenshealth #womenshealthweek #poweryourhealth #hackyourcycle #periods #periodquestions #periodmyths

Having your first period can be a very confronting and scary time. In a recent survey of young Australian teens, it was discovered that 70% of girls would rather fail a subject in school than tell their peers when they’re on their period. There are a few ways parents can help make this time a little less stressful. Here are out top 3 tips to help your child through their period: 📚 Help educate & confront concerns- Most young girls are interested in practical information such as when is it going to happen, how often, how long does it last, what is it going to feel like and what to do when the time comes. If your child feels awkward talking to you, there are lots of books available to help answer all those questions. Some popular period and puberty books include GirlsOnly! All about periods and Growing-Up Stuff, Welcome to your period and The Guide, Period. 👍 Be prepared – Always make sure there are spare pads, tampons or a clean menstrual cup in your kid’s school and sports bags so your child is never caught off guard when their period arrives unexpectedly. Don’t forget pain medication if they experience period pain. ⌚️ Keep track of when the period is due - Periods can be irregular for the first couple of years. Download a period tracking app on your child’s phone to monitor symptoms and help predict when a period is approaching. Popular tracking apps for younger women include MagicGirl, SpotOn, Clue, and Flo. #ballarat #ballaratchiropractor #ballaratchirocentre #ballaratchiro #ballaratworkshop #womenshealth #womenshealthweek #poweryourhealth #hackyourcycle #periods #periodquestions #periodmyths #firstperiod #teenperiod

As you start this week, how much thought are you giving to where you are at with your cycle and how that will affect how you feel and respond to the things you do and don't have planned this week? Is this really the week you want to be planning a new launch or idea? Should this be more of an admin week? How are you likely to react when your kids come out of school over-tired and grouchy - calm, or you'll feel yourself becoming irritated? You see if we practice cycle awareness, we can plan and cut ourselves some slack when needed, or plan to be all systems go and creative. CYCLE TRACKING⁣ ⁣ This practice can be as simple as charting your cycle on a calendar or it can mean using apps / programs that track your cycle for you. In the realm of wearable tech, there are plenty of options to track your cycle alongside your physical activity, heart rate, basal body temp, sleep, and much more (all of which are factors that affect the health of your menstrual cycle). ⁣ ⁣ ❓Why is cycle tracking important?⁣ ⁣ Think of your cycle as a personalized report card — hormones are not just responsible for monthly menses, ovulation and fertility — hormones have everything to do with our metabolism, digestion, mood, sleep, insulin response, thyroid, libido, hair, skin, and energy levels and SO MUCH MORE.⁣ ⁣ When we track our cycle, including paying attention to physical symptoms, aware of our emotional fluctuations and generally what our diet and lifestyle is like, we can then start to hone in on where issues and imbalances may be stemming from. ⁣ ⁣ Not to mention, having a general landscape of your monthly cycle can save you from all of the moments of pure panic of trying to remember when you last bled and/or jumping to conclusions about why your period is late, and so on😳⁣ ⁣ Cycle tracking is simply getting back in touch with your body and the divine feminine flow. ⁣ ⁣ What is she telling? Showing you? ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #replenishedroots #replenishyourroots #replenished #hormones #hormonehealth #hormonebalance #womenshealth #hormoneimbalance #perimenopause #menopause #pms #functionalmedicine #periodproblems #menstrualcycle #holistichealth #healthyhormones #hormonesupport #periods #hormonalhealth #estrogen #progesterone #seedcycling #seedcyclingblend #follicularblend #lutealblend #cycletracking #replenishedrootsseedcycling #hackyourcycle#period #mentstruation

Do you love to plan your life but find it never really works for you? Maybe you're just planning from the head instead of from your body? One of the 1st things we're taught in school is to plan our workload and activities. We start working and it's all GOGOGO, all the deadlines (which get inevitably left until last minute if you're like me). When we become Mums - wow - what the hell does a schedule look like and mean now??? You can't plan for naps and pooplosions and hungry little tummies around daily life all the time. Then, when we go back to work after mamahood and ESPECIALLY if we have our own businesses, it can be incredibly challenging to create a schedule that actually suits all facets of us as modern working women. Every single client I have ever worked with has the scheduling issue. Either they map out work & all the things the kids/dog/family/ then they need (always coming last!), but in practice, they're stuck and not able to get into a creative flow when the scheduled time arrives. This is sooooo common it's like totally a thing and very predictable. Since working with the cycles & seasons of life, I can see clearly that there really is a time & energy for everything. You need to tap into when your energies show up for you. The best way to do this is to plan from your body and not your head (aka from the SHOULD mode). When you next do your schedule, try taking a cyclic approach. If you have a menstrual cycle that means looking at which phase of your cycle you're in right now & then which season you'll be in next week, the week after and after that. Mark when you expect to bleed, and if your cycle is regular, look 2 weeks ahead as that'll be your approximate Ovulation / Inner Summer phase. Instead of lining up your tasks week to week, try aligning life to suit your cyclic superpowers and shadows. This way you tap straight into what feels most good, easy & effective. Want to learn what the cyclic phases & energies are to start with? Grab my ebook SIMPLY SACRED SELFCARE now! It shares how to identify & harness your superpowers & shadows of each phase of your cycle, plus comes with guided cyclic rituals! So proud of the feedback I get on this!

I’ve found it to be an incredibly welcoming community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I first started learning about the Fertility Awareness Method 8 years ago (😱), there wasn’t many Australian communities talking about it. I have a severe medication allergy that makes it unsafe for me to use any form of hormonal contraception, which led me to look for an alternative. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m so glad I found the fertility awareness method!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I heard whispers of it from an American woman I’d met - I remember I had to order Taking Charge of Your Fertility from the US, and I think I paid more for postage than I did for the book!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Imagine my surprise when I later found that the Billings method was developed right here! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love that our community has everyone from Catholic NFPers to FABMers living some of the most alternative lifestyles and everyone in between. Whatever your reasons for thinking about FAM, I’d love to chat more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you already practice FAM or NFP, how did you discover it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not practicing FAM or just starting your journey? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’d love to hear your questions below or on my stories ✌🏼🌺❤️🌻

Spatial cognition is the skill that lets you spot your team mates on the field and pass with accuracy, or to stay on target in sports such as tennis or golf. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Spatial cognition is highest during the menstrual and follicular phases and lowest during the midluteal portion. Testosterone - which women do have, particularly in the first half of the cycle - also plays a significant role in this.

3/23/2021, 8:50:11 PM

In addition to making you feel hotter during exertion, progesterone also increases the amount of salt (NaCl) you sweat out during exercise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This makes it even more important to prehydrate and rehydrate yourself with appropriate fluids - oral rehydration salts, coconut water, Gatorade or other electrolyte replacement. If you are training or competing out in hot weather and full sun, you should be drinking a large bottle of hydration drink every hour, you need the electrolytes as much as you need the water 🥤

On the one hand - it’s shocking that it took until 1985. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the other hand - here we are 36 years later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Still shoving tampons up sleeves or pads in pockets. Still whispering about or putting up with cramps and heavy bleeding. Still paying extra because we bleed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not to mention our sisters around the world who miss out on over a quarter of their lives because they have no access to menstrual products and cultural taboos bar them from education, religious gatherings, social events and even their homes whilst they bleed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 36 years. Let’s move on from this. Let’s teach sons, brothers, partners, colleagues and friends to accept and respect menstruation - let’s face it: the human race wouldn’t exist if periods stopped 🩸🤰🏽👶🏽

Ladies - Awareness is the first step! What if I have irregular cycles (long, painful or none)? When progesterone is not able to be produced, ovulation will be halted. Over time, the build up of estrogen will be what causes your period to occur. This is known as an anovulatory cycle. It is common to feel symptoms of PMS, your period may be “missing in action” or you have heavy periods that last more than a week. If you are missing your period of your periods last more than one week, please reach out to a medical professional for further assessment. Your hormones may need some adjustment. 💓

Sounds surprising, but you tend to look up or down--both literally and figuratively--depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle. Read on to find out why. 1st half of your cycle (1st day of period thru ovulation): You're looking UP As estrogen rises on these "follicular" days in your cycle, this hormone boosts your mood, confidence, optimism and derring-do. The result: You're more hopeful and dreamy so you enjoy more moments where you're feeling positive. Your mood is up. You're also physically looking up more! That's because rising estrogen makes you more curious about the world around you. You're interest is piqued by virtually anything: a passing cloud, a person you spot in the distance, a bird that flies by. It's easy to be distracted by all you see because rising estrogen makes them so much more fascinating on these cycle days. 2nd half of your cycle (day after ovulation thru day before your period): You're looking DOWN As estrogen dips twice and progesterone rises and falls during this "luteal" phase of your cycle, these hormonal changes can make you wary, cautious, worried, pessimistic and cynical. As a result, you tend to be more doubtful and realistic, which nudges you to the negative side of your emotional spectrum. This means you're mood can be down a bit more frequently than in the first half of your cycle. You're also physically looking down more! That's because research shows that the hormone-fueled wariness you experience on these cycle days makes you more alert for danger you might encounter. This spurs you to scour the ground where you're walking more carefully, for example, to avoid potholes, snakes (I do that a lot where I live in Florida!) or those foot-spiking LEGO toys your kid left on the floor. You may also be casting glances behind you to ensure you're safe as you walk, drive or bike. It's easier to feel a sense of unease about your well-being because of the heightened worry in these cycle days. **You can learn more about these and other hormonal effects in my book, "28 DAYS: WHAT YOUR CYCLE REVEALS ABOUT YOUR MOODS, HEALTH AND POTENTIAL" available at Amazon. It's the book that launched the #cyclesyncing movement!

Would you believe this was my very first chart? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I started monitoring my basal body temperature and my cervical fluid, I thought there was no way I was going to get any sort of clarity or delineation - no way I was going to be able to interpret anything from the lines and dots and shading on the chart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But look how well it turned out! Not only can you see a clear temperature shift indicating ovulation, it is confirmed by the changes in cervical fluid leading up to and resolving post-temperature shift. If you are overwhelmed by the possibility of charting your cycles, be encouraged - if this is how clear my first chart was, imagine how much information you will be able to glean from yours with professional help and coaching. Your journey can start today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What’s holding you back from trying the Fertility Awareness Method? 🌸🌸🌸

𝙷𝚘𝚛𝚖𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚋𝚊𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚘𝚊𝚝𝚜! Food is nourishing. Food is balancing. Food is medicine. I truly believe this which is why I use food to help keep my body and my hormones level. Follicular Phase Overnight Oats: 1/4 cup organic oats (needs to be organic so you know it’s free of glyphosate!) 1 Tbsp freshly ground flax seeds 1 Tbsp pumpkin seeds 1 tsp maca 1 scoop @strongphysiquez protein powder (makes it taste like brownie batter!) Pumpkin and flax seeds are great for supporting the follicular phase because they help with estrogen levels. Maca is great for supporting energy and at the beginning of your follicular phase aka your period, energy is the lowest! *Note on flax seeds! Always buy whole flax seeds and grind yourself the day or week you will need them. Pre-ground flax seeds can oxidize and go rancid very quickly! Want more tips on eating for hormone balance? Ever wondered why your (male) partner seems to stay skinny and put muscle on wayyyy quicker and easier than you? Even if you are doing the same work, and eating the same food? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hate to tell you it’s your hormones! Oestrogen turns down anabolism (building muscle) and progesterone turns up catabolism (muscle breakdown). If you are on the Pill, this effect is magnified because you are on a constant dose of both synthetic oestrogen and progesterone - not getting a fluctuation and reduction of the hormones like you would in a normal healthy cycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can compensate and reduce the catabolic effect of progesterone by making some simple dietary and supplementary changes around your exercise - including a source of protein that is high in leucine before, and within 30 mins after, exercise will help to trigger both muscle repair and growth factors. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whey protein is a simple and clean source of protein that is high in leucine. Try adding one without any other additives and including a complex carbohydrate post-workout too - did someone say smoothie?🧉

As well as doing exercise #harderbetterfasterstronger during the first half of your cycle, your recovery time is shorter and your pain tolerance is higher - perfect time for leg day ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✌🏼💪🏽🦵🏼

Learning to work with the natural hormonal fluctuation of your body can help you to plan your exercise schedule to suit what will nourish, care for and empower your body most depending on where you are in your cycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Love powerlifting or CrossFit but just can’t seem to break your PB? Try syncing your next big lift with your period or pre-ovulation - Paula Radcliffe broke the world record for the fastest marathon in Chicago while she had period pain 🤷🏼‍♀️👏🏼🙌🏻

The human body is designed so intricately and amazingly - a woman’s cervical mucus is designed to guide sperm to the ovum, it increases sperm’s longevity and it significantly increases the chance of a successful conception taking place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By understanding and recognising your fertile window effectively, you can increase your chances of naturally conceiving from a 2-4% chance in a cycle, all the way up to 60-75%! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Additionally, the chances of conception outside of the fertile window are extremely low - 0.04%. This means two things 1. Practicing fertility awareness with confidence and a correct understanding of the rules of the method is an extremely effective contraceptive, and 2. That correctly identifying the fertile window is so key to increasing the chances of a successful conception in couples seeking to achieve pregnancy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would love to teach you about the Fertility Awareness Method; either for contraception or pregnancy achievement, and I would love to support you on your journey to body literacy and confidently identifying your fertile sign. Book a one-on-one teaching session, a chart review or sign up for our introductory courses today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [1] Trietze,1960; James, 1963 [2] Fertility and Sterility, Sept. 1977 [3] Hilgers,1991; Int. TOP MISCONCEPTIONS/MYTHS ABOUT THE FERTILITY AWARENESS METHOD ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m just going to give a few rapid fire answers to these commonly touted myths about FAM. For more in depth answers please keep an eye on my posts, stories and highlights. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. It’s not effective It’s 98% effective with typical use, compared to The Pill being 93% effective with typical use. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. It’s The Rhythm Method Wash your mouth out! The rhythm method is based on a calendar and prediction formulas using the lengths of previous cycles. Fertility awareness based methods use real time, daily observations of the fertile signs of your body to determine each day whether you are fertile or not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. It’s too hard to learn or do That’s what they want you to think 😉 I truly believe ANYONE can learn to observe their fertile signs, it just takes time to learn and time to make the habit of making and recording your daily observations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Your cycles have to be regular Nope. Because you are doing daily observations it doesn’t matter how long your cycle is, how many times you attempt to ovulate, if every cycle is a different length. In fact, it may give you back some control, confidence and insight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5. It won’t help with infertility It can help if you are facing infertility. It can help you to learn about your fertile signs and see if timing intercourse or addressing lifestyle factors such as stress can help. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 6. It won’t help with period problems. Knowing what is going on with the whole of your menstrual cycle is key to addressing problems surrounding your period and hormonal changes such as pain, heavy bleeding or acne. And it can give you more information and more confidence to raise things with your doctor.

👩🏻‍💻 Some days I´m crazy productive; other days, I can´t get anything done. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✍️ Some days the words flow out of me; other days, I can´t write a single word. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👯‍♀️ And while I love to socialize some weeks, others I just want to lock myself up and be alone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes I feel like a totally different person, like I´m not myself. 👽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And, to be honest, often I wish I´d always be the same… that spontaneous, enthusiastic, fired-up entrepreneur who gets sh*t done and flies through her to-do list like it’s nothing. 💁🏻‍♀️🔥⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How is this possible? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well… it might surprise you, but (usually) this is due to the menstrual cycle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The first time I heard about the relationship between the menstrual cycle and productivity was last year, and it immediately intrigued me. So I dove into the topic, learned more about it, and started recognizing more and more. 💡⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One book I read about this was ´the Optimized Woman,´ by Miranda Gray. I share my insights from reading this book on my blog and also show you how to hack your cycle as an entrepreneur to be more productive during each phase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are four phases, and this first article covers the reflective phase (which I am in right now 🩸). Grab a mug of something warm and let's talk cramps.. First some background: I used to get the worst cramps. Twice, I passed out because of them, once at Philip's Grammy's house. I tell myself that the one perk out of this monthly agony was that I was prepared for childbirth. LOL Enter natural products. Now I rarely cramp and never to that degree. Here's four things I swear by: 1. Menstrual Cup. It's easier, more affordable, and better for your body than tampons. Bottom line: you need one. 2. Progessence Plus: This has been a game changer for me. I roll it on daily and it has helped my cycle hormones and specifically my cramping immensely. 3. Shark Week Roller: This is for when I do get a mild cramp. Cypress, Deep Relief, Clary Sage, Copaiba 4. Natural pantyliners. Again same thing as the cup, avoid the toxins. Especially near your vajayjay. Seasonality is everything. Our body follows a cycle of seasons and when we become in tune with it, we can live our lives in accordance with it. It honestly, makes things a lot easier. Learning your cycle and learning when your creativity peaks, when your patience is at its most generous, and when rest is most valuable is kind of like knowing when to eat cantaloupe and when to cook root veggies. 🌿🌿 Being able to predict your cycle makes it easier to get the most good out of your lunapatch. But it also makes it easier to get the most good out of your life.

WHAT YOUR CERVICAL MUCUS CAN TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR FERTILITY! No, Cervical Mucus IS NOT GROSS. We all have it, and it's there for a reason. A very good reason. Your CM plays a huge role in your fertility. CM has the perfect PH and environment for the sperm to survive, thrive, and be able to fertilize the egg. But that's only supposed to happen during a specific window of time each cycle. So, the changes in estrogen throughout your cycle will stimulate the changes in your CM production and consistency. CM shows up in your panties every day, so it's actually easy to check! There is no need for you to check internally. In fact, your vagina is always wet, so checking internally may be misleading sometimes... There are different types of mucus consistency, but there are 2 main categories, Fertile and Non-Fertile: ❄ NON-FERTILE: non-fertile mucus can range anywhere from nonexistent, the kind you see but you can't actually pick from your panties to the very sticky lumps that can't be stretched. The PH is very acidic and sperm can't survive. Also, during this time, a type of mucus is formed like a plug your cervix, which acts as a barrier, so sperm, physically can't pass. This type is common after menstruation and after ovulation. 🌞 FERTILE: Fertile mucus can range from smooth, creamy consistency, like hand lotion, to egg white or watery consistency, as you approach ovulation. The main indicator is that you can actually pick it up and stretch it between your fingers. This type of CM has the perfect PH for the sperm to swim and get to the egg, and can keep the sperm alive inside your vagina for up to 5 days! Not all women experience all of the above consistencies! We are all different! The more you track your CM the more aware you'll become of the different types and consistencies! DO YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR CERVICAL MUCUS AND HOW TO TRACK IT? GO TO MY BIO @beatiz_fertilitynutrition I HAVE A FULL BLOG POST ON THIS!✨✨

BASAL BODY TEMPERATURE Your basal body temperature (BBT) is your temperature when you're fully at rest. 📈 WHY DO YOU WANT TO TRACK YOUR BBT? When ovulation happens, the corpus luteum starts to secrete Progesterone. Progesterone is the dominant hormone in our second half of the cycle, the Luteal Phase. Your BBT increases with ovulation. Progesterone is the pro-gestation hormone and has a thermogenic effect on the body. I like to think about it the same way hens warm the eggs make them feel warm, and cozy so that they can develop and grow into a little chicken🐣. Progesterone has that kind of warming effect on us too, and so, it reflects in our BBT. Tracking your BBT will help you identify when ovulation has happened and whether it happened at all! Because when the egg is released your BBT will increase and will keep up for the rest of your luteal phase until the first day of your period (or kept high in the case of pregnancy). Big tip if you start tracking your BBT: KEEP IT CONSISTENT: - Measure on the same spot every day - Measure about the same time every day DO YOU TRACK YOUR BBT? Tell me your experience below!

WHAT DOES YOUR PERIOD LOOK LIKE? Your period just as your cycle can tell you a lot about your overall health. But how do you know if you have a healthy period? The very first step I take with my clients is completing a detailed history, a session that takes about 90 minutes... and one of the key areas we focus on is period health! Because your period tells me so much about you and how well you're doing overall, not o0nly at this moment but over your menstrual life. But again, how do you know if your period is a healthy period? First of all, to know you need to have a period, and if you're under hormonal contraception like the pill, the shot, the IUD... you don't have a period. Still, some of these parameters will give you some valuable insights about your health. To know whether you have a healthy period or not, ask yourself the following questions: 🩸 How often do you have a period? 🩸 How long does the bleeding last? 🩸 What's the color? Is it red, brown, pink, black, grey-ish...? 🩸 What's the consistency like? Is it too thick and clotty? Is it too thin and watery? 🩸 How much do you bleed? Is it a light bleeding or heavy bleeding? 🩸 Are you in pain? All these questions will help you understand whether you're good to go or whether it's time for you to investigate further... A healthy period along with a healthy cycle is step number 1 into your fertility journey. Do you want to talk to me personally? Schedule a Free Call through the link in my bio @beatriz_fertilitynutrition 💕💕

YOU CAN'T HACK WHAT YOU DON'T TRACK I am a big fan of Dave Asprey and I've been following him for years. And I heard him say this sentence once in a podcast a while ago and it got stuck in my head. Because it is so true! 📈 That's exactly what Cycle Tracking is all about! Girls, you can't know how your cycles are of your don't track them. Yes, you may have a pretty standard 28-day cycle, but that doesn't mean you have a consistent 28-day HEALTHY cycle. But seriously, do you know if you have a healthy cycle? 🤷‍♀️ Do you ovulate? 🤷‍♀️ How long are your cycles? 🤷‍♀️ Are they irregular? 🤷‍♀️ Are your periods heavy? Are they light? 🤷‍♀️ Are the painful? 🤷‍♀️ Do you have PMS? 🤷‍♀️ Headaches? Around ovulation or before your period? 🤷‍♀️ Do you get breast tenderness? 🤷‍♀️ Do you bloat during your cycle? 🤷‍♀️ Do your bowel movements change throughout the cycle? . . . . And I could go on and on for hours...⏰ Your cycle communicates with you! Really. It tells you how well you're doing overall in terms of health. Isn't this amazing?? So tell me, DO YOU TRACK YOUR CYCLES?

6/30/2020, 2:30:30 PM

HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR CYCLE? Comment below 🙋‍♀️ if you know how your cycle works and 🙅‍♀️ if you have no idea... I knew very little when I first embarked on my own fertility journey... and the education I got in high school was very limited and left a lot of room for the imagination... 🙄🤣. No, but seriously, this is important. Menstrual education is key. 🩸 Your menstrual cycle is a regular indication of your overall health. Do you know what that means? That every cycle you get an indication of how well your body is doing... I think that's amazing! 🤯 You deserve to know how your cycle works. What are the main hormones involved in your cycle and what each of those does? What is considered normal and what's not. What things can go wrong and when to investigate further... I teach all of my clients about their cycle as it's such an important tool. Did you know that you can sync with the different phases of your cycle?? That's is so powerful...! I have a series on my blog about Cycle Syncing... go check them out for additional information!
