Evening update. Happy to report we haven’t been carried away, and despite the wild rain and wind, we still have power, internet and water! This afternoon as Don and a neighbor checked conditions, a high pitch twang startled them. A tree across the street shifted and snapped a wire. The ground continues the dramatic shift, dragging the hillside, macadam, and eventually trees and utility poles with it. All we can do is wait. Wait and see what is next. Wait for the rain to stop. Wait for the earth to stop moving. Wait for everything to dry out. That’s a lot of waiting, and I think most likely a longer wait than we can imagine. Hunkering down… ❄️ Looks like winter has finally arrived and we are hunkering down for the remainder of the week. ❄️ Cold on the farm is never fun. But the animals still need to be fed and watered so it’s outside multiple times day/night to check on them all and make sure their feed and water are constantly full. Checking water lines and waterers to ensure they don’t freeze. Making sure feed and bales are all moved so I’m not starting skiddy or any tractor in the real deep cold. And lastly making sure I have all the necessities to feed us the whole time as well. ❄️ The cold snaps are always a challenge if we don’t prepare ahead of time. As we are just days away from December I wonder how you’re feeling? It can be all too easy to be in a social whirl and extremely busy at this time of year. All of the things to do and people to catch up with ‘before Christmas.’ Overwhelm and depletion can easily set in. This is your invitation to step outside each day and marvel at the turning of the seasons and the glimmers of joy available to you. This December I’ve designed a series of offerings to help you conclude 2023 feeling soft, in connection with your kin (human and more than) and r e s t e d. ALL proceeds going to @savechildrenuk appeal for Gaza. ✨ Friday 15th - sound bath meditation at Tuddenham st Mary near Bury st Edmunds in Suffolk. Yesterday was the best day. . Hanging out with some of my yogi besties @the_atman_club @yasminrobinow @vivianfly23, playing and practicing different poses while my very cool, new yoga friend @yoga_by_annamari shot incredible photos, getting a much needed reminder of how amazing this little yoga community we’ve built is. . Not to mention exploring a new neighborhood that’s been high on my list for awhile and finishing the day with the rest of my London besties over Friendsgiving dinner. . The days are getting colder. The nights are getting longer. Tomorrow I am giving a talk to Plant Heritage NE group in Ponteland and taking the bulbs on a little road trip. https://www.plantheritage.org.uk/local-groups/north-east/ Talking to local gardening groups is always a pleasure, like-minded people wanting to nurture the diversity of plants for generations to come.
