数週間前に買ったレコードにようやく針を落とす。 Stevie Wanderについては語れるほど聴き込んできたわけではないけど、アルバムで特に好きなのはこの”Innervisions”で、ベスト盤と思ってしまうくらい素晴らしい曲が揃っており、A面3曲目の”Living for the city”が彼の作品の中で最も好きな曲である。 購入したのは日本盤で今は懐かしい邦題が付いており、先の曲は「汚れた街」となっていた。まあこれは納得できるけど、B面4曲目のこれまた傑作の”Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing”が「くよくよするなよ！」って、これ考えた人に「お前は少しくらいくよくよしろよ！」と言いたくなる。 感覚的には邦題文化は1980年代半ば頃までで、その後廃れていったように思う。推測するに日本のバンドやミュージシャンが続々と出てきて、レコード会社もそちらに経営資源を増やしていったのではないか。 私自身は邦題に思い入れが殆どなく、それと言うのも当時は国内盤のLPが1枚2,500円であるのに対して輸入盤が1,800円位で発売も1〜2週間早いことが多かった。 そんな自分でも強烈に覚えている邦題がいくつかあり、 The Police「孤独のメッセージ」 Queen「愛という名の欲望」 The J.
