It’s been a bear recovering and bouncing back from the 6 Day World Record 🫠! I’ve had to be patient, focus on taking it a day at a time 🧱, and lean into the support system around me 💕🤗. Fortunately @lululemon supports us putting our health and wellness #1 ☝️. I don’t have any immediate pressure to race again, can take the time I need to fully heal, and resume normal training and racing when I feel ready. I hope I can be an example for other athletes to think longterm and not feel pressured to go beast mode all the time. I want to be a life runner and continue to have career longevity 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️. The FURTHER 6 Day race became survival for me the last few days 🧟‍♀️. It was extreme trauma that I’m still fully processing and recovering from- physically, mentally, and emotionally 🥹. Like my crew member Martin @flyerultra said, I pivoted from running with my head to my heart 💖. I found a way to survive by leaning in more to the support system around me- my teammates, my crew, the medical team, everyone there 🤗👋, and enjoying/appreciating the moment 🎉. My now ex was more than happy to take on that role... for a while. Then he told me that he couldn't be "my rock" anymore, because he was too tired. I wasn't in the right place with God back then. I was the prodigal daughter, trying to figure life out, doing it on my own. It was unfair to put that type of expectation on another imperfect human being. Especially a non-believer. I'm not in that place anymore. It has been two weeks since we said goodbye to our beloved senior Lab Stewie. Our second Labrador Emily has shown us that she is missing him too in our home getting in his bed and coming to us for extra pats . I laugh a lot about people finding “hidden Mickey’s” in normal life, but I won’t ever get over finding this one in my phone after just snapping a few quick shots of the sunrise during last week’s 10 miler. There is no filter; just a little three circle sun shining through the clouds as I went over the Epcot bridge. I have often said social media shows the highlights, and I try really hard to be as real and transparent as I can of the good, the bad and the ugly. But even when you’re in the middle of the ugly, I think it’s important to try and find something to make you smile…even if it’s something silly like a Mickey-shaped sunrise. READ MY POST! It's good for your health! Self-care is vitally important! Do you agree, yes or no?? Without suitable Nutrition, Physical activity, Sleep, Balance etc, your health WILL decline. You may be able to get by for a while, but ultimately you will burn-out! This is not a matter of IF!! But when!!! August 2023 I experienced a high level of stress 🥵 • Pressure to succeed in business and pay bills etc. • Death in the family • High level of exercise and expectation on myself • Life's challenges and around 10 days off in 4 whole years regardless of being ill or feeling the below symptoms • Constant anxiety, chest pain, palpitations • Incapable of relaxing • A feeling of being alone, sometimes unhappy and poor energy comparatively Poor me! In all seriousness I needed a break. I needed a change. If I didn't change something I would continue to go down an unhealthy path and I didn't want that for myself. What I needed was help. Because I don't unfortunately know it all! It took a very long time enduring so much until I had to decide that I needed to care about myself more than ANYTHING! I would like to go into more detail at some stage but anyways... Are you caring about yourself? Would you like to care more? If you want to improve yourself then it's about listening, opening your mind and trying new things. Last 2 weekends I have stayed @zenrji_wellness_centre which is an amazing place to get away and relax and accept a new positive vibration. My Sunday has been calm and refreshing. I set my playlist to 70s, 80s, and 90s Cools to enjoy my lone hours. As usual, the first few songs threw me back to the younger-me to relive those moments I couldn't get enough of my dad's classical CDs. He was a lover of good music with taste across diverse genres, I must say. So I listened to the songs one after the other and I got to Michael Bolton's Lean On Me. Oh the lyrics got me. I've heard this song play for years but the words inspired me differently today. The writer wrote so well and Bolton sang so fine It's a great piece of music written by Bill Withers in 1972 off his album of the same name. Then, in 1994, Michael Bolton did a cover of it for his album Timeless: The Classics. The beauty of dawn after an overnight shift with a new client. Oh my goodness, this 6 week old baby girl won my heart last night. While feeding her a bottle, she maintained her focus on me, and I couldn't help but smile.
