Uncertainty. This sums up everything right now. I don’t even know where to begin. A lunatic? No, he’s no lunatic. He’s power-hungry and has an ego the size of the Kremlin, but he’s no lunatic. We’re all just expecting him to think like the rest of us, not like an amoral predator. It’s not a reasonable expectation on our part, not given the multitude of evidence we’ve seen these past years. A sudden war? No, not sudden at all. Planned in detail, probably for years. Don’t be fooled. It doesn’t affect you because you’re far away? Wrong again. It hits all economies. Some stand to lose massively, some to gain. Look at who opposes certain measures. Look at who is quiet. They all have reasons. All Russian citizens are to blame in the same way that each of us is to blame for what our own governments are doing. Don’t make Ivan from the corner store the fall guy. Keep in mind two things: 1.A dictator is a symbol. He doesn’t have as much power as we credit him with. Look to his right, to his left, and especially behind him. Those people made him, they can unmake him. And make others like him. 2.Ukraine isn’t fighting just for itself. It’s fighting for all of us. It was put on the chopping block and refuses to give way. Primarily for itself, yes; but if it falls, it won’t be the last. The course of every war is set by the political interests behind and in front of it. Nothing is simple. The calculations involved, the implications, the possible consequences are unimaginable for anyone who doesn’t have all the information (myself included). This sounds – and is – callous when considering the loss of human life. It doesn’t make it any less true. The Ukraine is fighting for you, too. Don’t take it lightly.

Nixon foi eleito com um currículo contrário a guerra do Vietnã, chamando Stalin e Mao Tsé Tung de monstros e principalmente com o discurso de "unir o país". Na presidência, ele insistiu na possibilidade de vencer a guerra do Vietnã (mesmo após o relatório McNamara contradizer essa possibilidade), estreitou uma relação cordial com Brejnev (então líder da URSS) e fez uma aproximação histórica com a China de Mao, dando pontapé para a "economia de mercado socialista", vigente até hoje. Por último, sua reação contra os anti-guerra e a invasão ao Weather underground dividiram o país, tendo efeito até os dias atuais.
