Night of the Living Dead (1968) (Cinema) (Odeon - Guildford) (Rewatch) "A group of unsuspecting people get trapped in an old farmhouse after the dead unexpectedly rise from the grave and seek the living as food." *Full Review on Letterboxd* In Summary: Night of the Living Dead is both dated and ahead of its time in several aspects. The casting of a great Duane Jones in the lead role is an incredible choice, the low-buget gets a lot out of its effects and striking cinematography, but the awkward pacing makes for this being a bit of a drag at times, and the awful supporting performances and their idiotic characters make this a frustrating watch at times. Monday Daydreaming Week 60! As Spielberg month comes to a close I decided to pick another one for this week’s daydream. This week is The Sugarland Express! I really enjoyed this film and I think it deserves a little more attention. I think this could greatly benefit from a new restoration, it has great scenery and cinematography throughout. I don’t think it would benefit all that much from an audio upgrade but wouldn’t complain if it got one. The rights for this film are owned by @universalpictures so hopefully they can give us an upgrade like they did for Duel, but if they don’t want to I think @criterioncollection would be great for it. Correct me if I am wrong but don’t think Steven Spielberg has a film in the collection and although it’s not his best film I think it would fit pretty well in the collection as a lesser known early title from the now legendary director. After “The BFG” 2016, Spielberg did “The Post” 2017. I again don’t own it so won’t be watching it this time around but I do really want to check it out if I can get my hands on the out of print 4k lol. The next year in 2018 Spielberg released “Ready Player One”. Another I am yet to see, when it came out I just never had interest in watching it and still haven’t. One day I will pull the trigger on the 4K and give it a shot. Next up on my watchlist is Spielberg’s take on the classic “West Side Story”. Knuckles (Miniseries) (2024) (Paramount+ - 4K UHD) (First Time Watch) "Knuckles the Echidna teaches deputy Wade Whipple the techniques of the Echidna warrior." A minor step up from the decent enough Sonic films. Nothing major, but a very breezy and easy watch of six thirty minute episodes (No reason this couldn't have been a 100 minute film). Big Dris is still great fun in the title role and has solid chemistry with Adam Pally. The humour is hit-and-miss with some very cringe stuff, but there's some decent gags and lines here and there with some solid guest stars, but there's a bigger dose of heart than I expected that worked well. Watchable fun, nothing more, nothing less. Some bangers on the soundtrack too. After “Kingdom of The Crystal Skull” 2008, he directed his first animated film “The Adventures of Tintin” 2011. I actually really enjoy this one but again I will be coming back to rewatch it once I buy it. That same year he also directed a film called “War Horse” 2011. I have never seen it but I will also not be watching it for the same reasons as the others. In 2012 he directed a film about Abraham Lincoln called “Lincoln”. Another I haven’t seen but won’t be watching. His next film was “Bridge of Spies” 2015. I believe I have seen pieces of this one but not the whole thing and yet another I will unfortunately not be watching. What brings me to the next film I will be watching 2016s, “The BFG”.
