Weekend hikes with my boys! After doing training laps on Saturday, Ken mentioned how good the weather was on Sunday and we had to do something. We were clueless on what was doable since there was very little beta out there and we eventually decided on a safe southern facing slope up that we'd just done last year at the same time. It turned out perfectly and we were sweating on the hike up it was so warm. I didn't mind that it was a repeat either since it was just so nice to get out, in safe avalanche terrain for the conditions and perfect weather! We saw a size two go off across the valley so be sure to be safe out there! Being able to witness a sunset at ~3000m was pretty spectacular. Doing so with a group of people who quickly became family was even more special. What season is it anyway?! Honestly, I've been really bummed about this warm winter weather. I just want to go skiing so badly. We're taking advantage of not being able to do anything by finishing projects around the house, but this is getting so old. I guess that all you can do is get ready for spring and pray for snow. 🙃 To get ready for spring, I've started some seedlings indoors including: strawberries, onions, peppers and some flowers that take a long time to get going. It's this weird limbo of feeling done with it and wanting to spend my days hiking, but also having this massive fomo for the winter that hasn't really happened. How is everyone else dealing with it?
