Progetto giugno 2021 - novembre 2022, realizzazione maggio - dicembre 2022 🪷 Il giardino accoglie la casa privata di Sara e della sua famiglia, il suo laboratorio di ceramica @kikosara il B&B @casakikob_b in cui sono accolti ospiti da tutto il mondo. Il progetto dell’ampio giardino del B&B, sviluppato insieme a @wna.studio è caratterizzato da un deck e una pergola, circondati da aiuole di arbusti ed erbacee perenni. Il deck in legno è un’ infrastruttura condivisa per varie attività, provvista di arredi per esterni, una pergola per l’ombreggiamento e una vasca “Hot Tub” riscaldata a legna. Il progetto si è focalizzato su accoglienza, flessibilità e cambiamenti stagionali, nel disegno di un luogo intimo affacciato sulle colline e i campi di grano dorato. Spring Blush Peas This beautiful bicolor variety produces loads of sweet and crunchy pods. Which are great for eating many different ways. Fresh is best in my opinion. The vigorous vines get between 5-6ft tall. So they need some kind of support to grow up. I've read that this is a hyper tendril variety which produces edible sweet tendrils. Something new I hopefully can try this year. So if you haven't sowed your peas yet don't worry you still have time to. This was one of last year's harvest that manage to make it to a photo shoot and not in my belly! We've turned our attention to the front garden for the moment. The beautiful old apple trees are overgrown and diseased so a radical chop was in order. Thankfully, we had a willing brother to help us and after a couple of day's work, the trees are back under some sort of control. Unfortunately, I now have the biggest pile of holly and apple tree offcuts ever seen! I now spend any downtime chopping them up into manageable pieces ready for the compost heap! • archivio eliodora • Il verde pubblico in ambito urbano nella città di Collegno / Principi e scenari per una progettazione sostenibile Torino, 2019-2021 A quasi due anni dalla consegna di questo progetto – che ehilà con solo 24 mesi di ritardo ho appena caricato sul mio sito – mi tornano in mente l’impegno e l’entusiasmo che ci abbiamo messo. Questo progetto di ricerca, svolto con @wna.studio , ha dato vita a un documento strategico di sintesi e orientamento per le discipline che regolano il verde pubblico in ambito urbano; rappresenta uno strumento operativo che identifica linee guida e principi, normative di riferimento e scenari di intervento sull’ecosistema verde della città. Nell’ambito di questo progetto, il 2017 e il 2021, per il Comune di Collegno @enrico_manfredi24 abbiamo progettato e realizzato alcune aiuole sperimentali a bassa manutenzione e ridotte richieste idriche, rispettivamente site in Via Roma e Via Donizzetti e Corso Papa Giovanni XXIII. Questi sono progetti ideati e realizzati nei primi anni della mia attività lavorativa che sono stati formativi e appassionanti. Una piccola oasi galleggia tra i palazzi e i colori della città, popolata da spighe, boccioli e rami che ondeggiano al vento.. All’ombra crescono piccoli fiori luminosi, al sole calle e equiseti. Per il nuovo giardino della @fondazionececiliagilardi ho progettato un vaso su misura. Il vaso, in acciaio, riveste un vano tecnico dell’impianto di condizionamento che non poteva essere spostato ne modificato. Un pannello verticale protegge le piante dall’aria calda che proviene dal vano. Guardato frontalmente, il vaso sembra galleggiare, come sospeso. In occasione dell’inaugurazione del giardino, è stato temporaneamente allestito con pelargoni ricadenti. Nel futuro, vi cresceranno pervinche variegate e geranium dalle foglie odorose. Così, un elemento tecnico si integra nel giardino, ricoperto da piante dalle foglie leggere, pronto per essere rifugio per lombrichi e altri amici. 🐛🐞🐦⬛
Il 28 giugno è stato inaugurato il nuovo giardino della @fondazionececiliagilardi un luogo raccolto e accogliente che ho progettato fino a seguirne tutte le fasi di realizzazione. Qui la tipica atmosfera delle case torinesi dei primi del Novecento si fonde con la mia visione di giardino: gruppi di erbacee perenni ed arbusti circondano un deck, da cui osservare le stagioni, immersi in uno spazio lontano dal traffico. Roses you must prune when the Forsythia is in bloom! Except for your climbing roses… only prune the brown/dead tips off of those… and also watch out for little native carpenter bees which may have nests in dried out stems. You’ll know because the mother will be guarding the entrance if the nest is active. I found one yesterday! 👉👉 Small native carpenter bees will do this in any plant that has canes or pithy stems like roses, raspberries and hydrangeas. Stiamo per salutare il bellissimo mese di marzo, la primavera è arrivata e già da qualche settimana è iniziato lo spettacolo. Così, un pensiero.. Quando i primi insetti si risvegliano, hanno bisogno di trovare nutrimento e rifugio, quindi largo a crochi, ellebori, viole, e poi narcisi, giacinti... chi non si è fermato ad ammirare quella dolce ape che mangia allegra sul pruno in fiore? Lasciamo che queste bellissime specie si naturalizzino e prendano spazio nel nostro giardino, così da creare un luogo accogliente per la biodiversità in tutte le stagioni, oltre che un appagamento per occhi e cuore. 🐝

Giving a bit of Christmas maintenance to Lorenzas plants , (@ally_sbally s mum) this Schefflera hadn’t had new soil in over 18 years. He was getting to be a leggy beast who was toppling his pot. We removed nearly all the old soil, replenished with new fresh soil and gave a nice new top dressing. I strategically pruned the plant to encourage it to bush out , sometimes a bit of tough love goes along way especially with older house plants.
All I want for Christmas is some old wrinkly Peter peppers! And that's exactly what I got. So I wonder does that make me a good or naughty girl?! In all seriousness these Peter peppers were left on a plant that was brought in to overwinter. I allowed the peppers to fully dry out before harvesting them and pruning the plant back. Did you know that peppers are actually perennials that can be grown year after year? It just depends on what zone you live in will determine how you need to properly overwinter the plant/plants. If you do it right, gardening doesn’t have to end when the snow shows up. Not only is there still tons of processing to do but you can bring your food inside. Today I processed our jalapeños which turned into 6 jars of hot sauce and three jars of pickled jalapeños; minced and prepped garlic for the next couple weeks and collected our dried basil. Next weekend we’ll finish our bell and banana peppers and eventually we’ll get to the tomatoes that are still ripening in their cardboard boxes. Plus, check out the greens and herbs we can enjoy year around growing inside. #neverstopgardening

Come ogni ottobre, ecco che inizia la stagione del cippato. 🍁🍂 Il cippato che abbiamo fatto nel corso della stagione scorsa è praticamente finito e ci stiamo organizzando per iniziare la nuova produzione. La nostra produzione inizia a ottobre e si conclude tra febbraio e marzo, circa. Ogni anno è un po’ diverso, le stagioni non sono sempre uguali, le foglie non cadono sempre lo stesso giorno, ma l’unico momento possibile è quello del riposo, quello dove le foglie non ci sono e si stanno preparando le nuove gemme. L’autunno è il momento migliore per prendersi cura del giardino e prepararlo non solo al riposo invernale, ma anche alla successiva primavera. Ci piace fare il cippato proprio per questo, perché sappiamo quanto farà bene ai vostri giardini. 🐿🐛

Hello everyone! It's that time again where I don't have much time to make up pretty veggie baskets to do photo shoots with. When the harvests get as large as this one. By the way which was 49lbs and 35lbs of that was just in tomatoes! As soon as I'm done harvesting. I remove what I will be using in my meals for the next few days and then I get right to preserving the rest of the goodies. My methods of preserving is pickling, canning, dehydrating, and freezing. I'm trying fermenting for my first time. I just purchased the supplies to make saurkraut with the dwarf cabbages I grew. And those cabbages are the first time for me to ever grow them. Which I'm going to try to grow again next year. If you are or know of other ways of preserving those garden fresh goodies. Other then the ways I mention. Royal Ensign Convolvulus these beauties are considered a dwarf morning glory. Unlike your typical morning glory this variety doesn't climb but instead it spreads a couple of feet outward. Making it great for cascading over containers. You can grow it up a small trellis but you will have to manually train it to do so. They produce two inch blooms that are a rich cobalt blue with a white throat and a sunny yellow center. Any area you grow them in they just pop out with their vibrant colors. Just like morning glories the blooms only last a short time. They start blooming early morning and last only until noon. Unless you have them partially shaded. They can last a couple hours later. These are the four varities of cukes I'm growing this year. All of these varities are good for fresh eating and all except the Yamato Xtra Long are great for making pickles with. They are very tasty, with a little sweetness but don't hold their crunchy texture after a few days of them being in the pickling brine. Which will keep me from growing them again. I need my cukes to do both purposes. The Mary's and Chicago's pickling are so much alike I can't tell the two apart. Great taste, with a good crunchy texture and very little seeds. My favorite of these is and probably always will be the Miniature White cuke. Just like the other picklers. They are tasty, crunchy, great to pickle and probably the most prolific variety out of all of them. Its hard to keep up with harvesting in time before they go to seed. So far I've already made 19 quarts of pickles and still more to be made. What do you do with your cukes? Maybe someone can give me another option then just to eating these fresh and pickling?! No pretty veggie basket for the first tomato harvest. These are all micro dwarf tomatoes I saved seeds from and didn't want to take a chance on mixing them up. So thats why they were all separated and labeled in jars. After saving the seeds I put them in the dehydrator to make some tasty snacks for later. So who else is growing micro dwarf tomatoes and if so do you have a favorite to recommend? My favorite micro dwarf still is the deliciously sweet Ditmarsher. Bountiful bush bean harvest! I picked almost 3lbs of these beautiful goodies yesterday. Half a pound of them went straight into last nights dinner and the rest I'm going to blanch and freeze for later use. Harvested all my garlic that I started from seed back in November. I had a few medium sized bulbs while the rest were much smaller. I was hoping for them to be bigger but I can't complain. At least I was able to harvest what I have here. I won't use any for seed this year because of how small they are. My kids suggested I grow more basil to make enough pesto to last throughout the year. I think with this huge second harvest and another one coming very soon. I will have enough to accomplish that. With these last two harvests of basil. I have been able to make 18 cups of fresh pesto! Which I then froze in silicone trays for individual use. Le piante coltivate con cippato di ramaglie fresche sono sane ed autonome e quindi più capaci ad affrontare momenti di stress 2 . Il cippato funge da riserva idrica: una volta ricevuta l’acqua (rugiada, pioggia, irrigazione) la rilascia lentamente al terreno, proteggendolo dall’irradiazione diretta del sole e dal dilavamento superficiale del vento 3 . Il cippato favorisce un assorbimento più uniforme e lento dell’acqua da parte delle piante rispetto al terreno nudo 4 . Small small small happiness 😇 All were collected during walks! Found them growing on the footpaths(so now you know how much I observe😂) I usually don’t grow many flowering plants in my balcony, mainly because no sunlight for 6 months! And I can’t see them dying😞But my veggie plants survives somehow. And due to low fertile soil, cuttings are taking longer time to develop a rooting system and by then it would have either rotten or dried up🙁 This has never happened back in Kerala. Even if you keep a small cutting half in soil it would sprout🤓Any one else facing this issue? So this time, I m testing the rooting process in water for most of the plants which grows via cutting. I used to grow many money plants in water but never found good growth then. This time I change the water daily and could find surprising and fast growth. So if you are also struggling with water propagation, try changing water daily! The first day of summer couldn't get any better then this. I'm glad I went and checked on the the cherry tree after I was told there wasn't many left after my son had harvested them the other day. I seen way to many left over just waiting to be picked. After about an hour I was able to harvest just over another 9lbs of these delicious goodies! This harvest being even bigger then the first. So in total for this year we harvested a whopping 16lbs of sweet cherries! That is 12lbs more then what we harvested last year! Gold Dust aka Basket of Gold Alyssum isn't your typical sweet alyssum. It has all of the same characteristics but what makes it different from other varieties is it's green gray leafy foilage and that it's a herbaceous perennial. Meaning the plant dies off annually but the woody roots will survive the winter to come back the next year. It does produce seeds once the flowers die off just like all alyssum varieties. Alyssum prefer full sun and well drained areas to grow in. Since they grow in mounds that only get up to 12 inches tall and spreads 12 - 18 inches wide. They are great for containers, border fronts, and ground cover. Alyssum is also known to attract benefical insects such as parasitic wasps, hover flies, lady bugs, butterflies and bees. Once the flowers start to die off cut back the plant a third of its size to encourage more of their shining golden blooms. Here are some other herbaceous perennials.
