Polytunnel upgrade Polytunnel has had a bit of a tidy up and overhaul from summer. Weeds have gone and floor has been redone with cardboard and gravel. Old chilli and pepper plants out and new ones in to overwinter. Nothing happened with the eggplants this year so we've left a few in and planted lettuce around them, we'll see if they overwinter and try next year. Tomatoes and cucumbers still going strong and new seedlings have got a bit leggy in the other smaller greenhouse so we've moved them in to get the best of the light and heat. Nach den drei Frost Nächten letzte Woche sind ja so viele Pflanzen erfroren. 🥹 Unsere kleine Apfelquitte hatte auch schon Blüten, die aber noch komplett geschlossen waren. Jetzt wo sie sich geöffnet haben, bin ich doch etwas traurig. Denn die meisten Blüten sind trotzdem erfroren. Ich habe mal Bilder vom letzten Jahr raus gesucht. Dieses Jahr sind die Innenleben der Blüten komplett braun vom Frost. Nur ab und zu gibt es noch eine einzelne Blüte in der ein paar Stempel intakt sind. Ich hoffe so, dass es ausreicht doch noch ein paar Früchte zu haben! 04.28.24 I made Luay's @urbanfarmandkitchen roasted cherry tomato sauce last summer and froze it for later. I decided to use it last night as a marinara sauce, and it was so delicious! It's super easy to make and a great way to use cherry tomatoes from the garden. Luckily my Sun Golds were the star of my garden last season, so I had plenty to make this sauce. It ain't much but it's honest work😭💜💗 Lavender is finally blooming in my garden- the amount of tries I have given this plant have been the most out of all the tries I have made for a single plant for the past 3 years. We got a lot of rain last night and it is supposed to rain through noon today. We are open, but it is too muddy to dig while you are here. This is a super nice historic Iris that was hybridized by Albert Lauck and registered in 1957. What I love about this Iris is the deep golden-yellow with the contrasting mahogany veining on the Falls. This Iris won Honorable Mention award in 1959. Available on our website. It’s time to prep your tools and get the garden ready! . It’s time to pull out your tools and get them cleaned, sharpened, oiled, and inspected so you’re ready to tackle any gardening task! . We’ve put together a few simple tips to help you out. For clippers, we recommend you visit the manufacturer’s website and follow their maintenance recommendations. They usually have complete instructions and or videos to help you through the breakdown and cleaning process. For hand tools like shovels or claws, we recommend you give them a good wash in warm, soapy water. File away any burrs at the edge of the shovel and sharpen the tip. If your handles are wooden, we suggest using a wood preservative stain or oil to rejuvenate the wood and add to your tool’s lifespan. For larger tools like spades, edgers, and rakes, we suggest washing them or brushing them off with a firm-bristle brush. Sharpen or oil as needed. Check all your wooden-handled tools to ensure they are still sturdy and safe. Mi piace cogliere ogni sfumatura di colore del mio giardino e qui ora la custode del laghetto, è circondata da un aurea rosa creata dal tamerix (finalmente si inizia a vedere anche da lontano, quanta pazienza!) e un raggio di sole illumina i fiori presenti intorno al laghetto e allora eccomi qui a fotografarli dalla calendula alle bocche di lupo, erige, salvione giallo, iris... il tamarix fa parte di quelle piante "che camminano" come dice mio marito🤭 metà della loro vita erano in un altro punto del giardino e poi le cose cambiano e ho avuto la brillante idea di creare un laghetto ed eccole ora nella loro sede definitiva, sono più di una singola pianta hanno impiegato anni per riprendersi dallo schok ma con le mie cure... finalmente risplendono!!! Il tamarix rosa Insieme al prunus rosso nello sfondo creano prodondità e un bel movimento di colori che adoro e mi viene in mente Monet che non faceva altro che dipingere il suo lago in tutte le stagioni... capisco il perché! Poi arriveranno anche le euchinacee e i gladioli... mentre il nocciolo si riempe di foglie e nasconderà la sua bellezza segreta per tutta l'estate... Tulipani La lunga attesa della fioritura dei tulipani nel mio giardino è finita e sono tutti in questi post! 1.tulipa Daytona di un bianco candido, semplicemente perfetto per il mio giardino segreto total white! Poi tutti i colori presenti nel giardino! Mancano i tulipani selvatici di cui mi sono innamorata e il prossimo anno provvederò ad ampliare la collezione...sempre grazie a @floriana.bulbose e non vedo l'ora!
