Tom Cridland Clothing was established in 2014. Last summer Elton John’s drummer, Nigel Olsson (who has been with him since 1969), wore a custom Tom Cridland purple suit for the 2023 headline performance at Glastonbury. There have been many highlights since I started the business through the government’s start-up loan scheme. When I first appeared on BBC Radio 4, in June 2015, I had an impromptu breakfast with Jeremy Corbyn beforehand, as he was also on the show, and he spilt his coffee on my red Tom Cridland chinos. In January and February of 2016, we had a Tom Cridland Clothing pop up shop on the King’s Road in London (rent free and offered to us after we featured in the Evening Standard). And, later that summer, British Airways sent a photographer all the way to Alassio to photograph me (and my several chins) for an article about Tom Cridland Clothing in their High Life Magazine. Nothing, however, can compare to making clothing for your hero. We’ve been collaborating with Nigel Olsson for ten years now and without his support the business would never have taken off. For every high on this entrepreneurial journey, there have been several lows. Many of those achievements I just mentioned were dampened by the depressing aftermath of my nascent drinking problem. TODAY IN MUSIC HISTORY: 10 February 1949 … Nigel Olsson is born in Cheshire, England. The famous Drummer started his career in 1968 as Drummer with the band Plastic Penny. In 1969 he met Reginald Dwight and the started to work together. When Reginald became Elton John he joined the Elton John Band and worked on all his famous Albums. In 1971 he released also a solo album but it was not until 1975 when he scored a Hit with the cover of „Only One Woman“, originally by The Marbles and written by the Bee Gees.
