Alexi was so sweet. I explained that I was starting a new series and needed someone to photograph it, and she was sweet enough to say yes! Otto, with his captivating eyes and fluffy coat, was rescued a few weeks ago from a Tennessee shelter. As I embark on this series, I'm particularly interested in how these special bonds form. Is it the breed characteristics or the individual circumstances that foster this connection? I am letting this series evolve organically. Sharing unpolished stories allows for real-time feedback and collaboration, adding a layer of authenticity. 🐶 Hi my name is Oreo. I’m 11-12 years old and unfortunately, I haven’t been adopted due to my ongoing health issues. ⚕️ To start, I’m blind. One of my eyes was injured prior to coming into rescue and I have a cataract in my other one. I was about to have cataract surgery in rescue when I suddenly started to have seizures — multiple times. I was quickly hospitalized in the emergency room and am no longer a candidate to have cataract surgery because it would be too risky. I also have chronic ear infections and I have to have my ears packed every week by the veterinarian and re-cultured every few months. In addition, I am on seizure medication and require ongoing medical care and monitoring. The rescue pays for everything right now and need your help. Hi, I’m Sweet Max 👋 and I’m 6 years young. Many of you know me because I’ve been looking for a foster home. Unfortunately, I’ve been in the rescue for over a year and no one has applied to adopt me. Can you believe that? Truthfully, it might be because of my medical problems. 😔 🐾 You see, I have a history of cluster seizures (even with medication). I’ve been hospitalized several times throughout 2023 for my seizures and more recently, for spinal surgery. My medication alone costs the rescue over $150 a month. I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to adopt me because I’m a very expensive dog to keep alive. I’m so grateful to Abandoned Angels for being so committed to me and valuing my life. 💗 I promise - to know me is to truly love me! I’m a happy boy and I love everybody I encounter - even strangers. 👼 When we rescue a dog, we make a commitment to take care of them until they get placed in a loving forever home.—and we take this promise very seriously. Unfortunately, some of our Angels remain in rescue for extended periods of time due to behavior or medical reasons and sometimes are sadly, never adopted — like our Cheeky. 💗 Cheeky is a beautiful 13 year old female Cocker Spaniel who has been diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. She also has a history of chronic recurring, resistant ear infections. Her Cushing’s disease medication alone costs us $204.80 per month. Her ear packing medication costs us $153 for a 4-week period and she will need it be refilled several times to eradicate the infection. Her vet bill for 2023 was $2,700, and that doesn’t including her medication. 🐶 We rescued 8yo Lincoln last month. His owner gave him up because he was urinating in the home and she worked long hours. He has a history of ongoing liver and adrenal issues. He eats a prescription diet for stomach issues. Lincoln is the sweetest boy. He give kisses 💋, is playful, and extremely loving. He is under the care of our veterinarian and is currently being treated for a bladder infection. Lincoln needs new blood work, and further testing for both Cushing’s Disease and ongoing gastroenterological issues. ⚕️ Please consider making a donation to Lincoln’s medical fund so he can get the veterinary care he so desperately needs. We rescued Gold from a cage in the middle of the field in Jeolla-do, Korea, living as a “guard dog” in neglectful conditions. 🐶 Gold is friendly toward other dogs, and his tail wags happily whenever he meets new furry friends. He's slowly warming up to the world and is becoming more outgoing daily! 🌟 💕 He might be shy initially, but Gold warms up quickly once he gets to know you. He Gold enjoys his daily walks, getting some exercise for 15-30 minutes four times a day. He's been progressing with loose leash walking, especially in quiet areas. 🌳 Outdoors: Gold can be a little nervous around loud noises like cars and bikes, but with a patient and understanding owner, he'll gain more confidence to explore the world at his own pace. 🏡 Inside, Gold has made tremendous strides since coming to his foster home.
