And the journey goes on! Since I felt in love with the music of Madrugada, a solo gig of Sivert Høyem himself was still left on my bucket list. So call that done! I didn't really know what to expect as I only knew a couple songs of his solo project, but I was more than just pleasantly surprised to witness such a amazing and atmospheric show with some quite dark and interessting moments. On one hand there are love songs like "Sleepwalking Man" but there there great songs like "Lioness" or the fantastic "Give A Whirl". On the other hand there was the really moody and gloomy "The Boss Bossa Nova" where everybody just had to dance. And on top just one Madrugada song. Of course it had to be "Majesty", played just by him and his acoustic guitar. Its just a bliss to hear him singing. His powerfull dark and deep voice is the stuff of dreams. Sivert, thank you so much for this evening and for your time after the show. Finally I could tell you how you music sounds to me. Like Chris Isaac but with more warmth and more guts. Until next time! The name Titicaca, which we all remember from school, as it seemed so funny, actually means "the rock of the puma" and, surprisingly, the lake does look like a cat on maps. Most of us also may remember that it's the largest lake in South America and one of the highest lakes in the world (it's located 3800 meters above the sea level). For some reason, I always had a dream to see Titikaka, may be because of its name, I don't know. So one of my dreams came true! The journey from La Paz took us four hours and we had a long day on the lake, visited the town Copacabana and took a boat across the lake to a wonderful island, Isla del Sol. The day was so full of activities and we were so exhausted, that I even forgot to do Duolingo (those who know me well can confirm that's that absolutely unusual for me). Isla del Sol was probably the highlight of the day and the boat ride there under the bright altiplano sun was just magnificent! We were hiking the island for a few hours, seeing magnificent views of the lake all around, as well as interesting ruins that pre-date the Inca empire and have been dated back to as far as 300 BC. From La Isla del Sol (The Sun island) we could also see La Isla de la Luna (The Moon Island). We were told by the locals that only men used to inhibit the Sun Island and only women the Moon one. Makes sense, but I am not sure if it's a true fact. The modern island has no roads or cars and is inhabited by a community of indigenous people called Aymará and has a few hotels. According to a legend, Isla del Sol is the birth place of the sun. On an island After seeing Madrugada in 2023 for the first time it was pretty clear for me to visit the solo concert of Sivert Høyem this year too. The show in Berlin was sold out quiet fast. Sivert took the audience of the Heimathafen Neukölln on an island of his music. The setlist was full with songs of his new album and of course loads of music from the past years. The preact @faywildhagen got the audience in the right mood. The interaction of acoustic and electric guitars was perfect and created a warm and unique sound. With his outstanding voice Sivert could have sing for hours. Would have been interesting to hear a black metal version of one of the songs since Sivert is connected to the scene and recently shared the stage with Nergal from Behemoth on his sideproject at a Norwegian metalfest. The design of the merch was great so I bought some lovely pieces. One guy invested 500 Eur in buying almost every piece of the merch collection.
