The sandstone slot canyon is about 660 feet long and 120 feet deep. 📝 in order to visit here you do need to take a guided tour. Horseshoe Bend — what a treat and a definite “must” on your next trip to Arizona. Here are a few tips for your visit: • It’s not just a viewpoint on the side of the road that you pull off on — it’s a .75 mile walk each way — not strenuous and good for all ages. • Definitely wear a hat and sunscreen - if you go during the day, you’ll be in the direct sun. There’s not any shade. • There is a $10 per vehicle fee for parking. • Expect crowds during the busy season, but don’t let that keep you away from this amazing place — there’s plenty of room for everyone. • Sunrise and sunset times are best because of the great lighting. • It’s very windy - wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the blowing sand. The view is one of the best we have ever seen, anywhere and we can’t recommend this place enough. 📍Next Stop Page Arizona Part 1 : Lake Powell . . 🔻Such a fun kayaking tour with @lakepowellpaddleboards. This was our favorite tour activity we did. This consisted of a 5 mile round trip kayak tour to remote sections of the Antelope slot canyons that can only be accessed by water. Once arriving at the slot canyons, we hiked 2 miles round trip. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area. We booked the first tour group available in the morning. I highly recommend this. Not as crowded with boats or other kayakers. #outwest #pagearizona #lakepowell #traveltips

**Graphic Images** We want you to meet Sandra our newest baby to the PAAA family! Sandra was brought in this weekend after being found by a super nice guy. He found this pup near the Gap area, lying near a rest stop hopelessly. He was able to scoop her up and drop her off on his way through. This afternoon she saw the team at @pageanimalhospital. Sandra has multiple dog bite wounds that are infected, hair line fractures in her elbow and rips, and a extremely high fever. She was treated with injection of antibiotics, fluids, and more antibiotics to take over the next few weeks. Did we mention she is covered in ticks which also will be treated. Who knows if this girl was used for bait or just got caught in a bad situation with some bigger dogs. She is super sensitive to touch, I mean who wouldn’t be, and feels like crap. Once all the meds kick in she’ll be feeling much better. She’s a tough little girl and we know she’ll make a full recovery. It’s amazing how resilient dogs, animals are. Sandra would really benefit in a foster home! A foster where she can heal and get that extra attention and love she needs. Here are a few things to know before you visit: 👉🏻 there is Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon, Upper being the more popular (and also more expensive). 👉🏻 both can only be visited by guided tour. I recommend booking the tour at @getyourguide 👉🏻 is a popular spot, so book in advance 👉🏻 the tour takes about 1h30 👉🏻 although there are a lot of people in the canyon simultaneously, it's possible to take photos without people. Be patient 😅 👉🏻 at certain times of the day, there are light beams in the canyon, which is beautiful. Tours for these slots are usually more expensive After reading a lot of reviews, I ended up choosing Lower Antelope Canyon essentially for 3 reasons: it was cheaper, less crowded and the canyon is slightly larger. Gretta had a GREAT Doggie Day Out yesterday! This weekend the City of Page held their 3rd annual Arts Festival and it was Elm Street Market day too, so lots to explore. Gretta did awesome and even though there wasn’t a lot of people out she still got to experience all the noises and the different environments besides the shelter. Nita then rewarded her with trip to McDonald’s for a cheeseburger and an ice cream cone! We have so many great dogs that would love a Doggie Day Out! That can be a trip to our local coffee shop @lpespresso. The Elm Street Market is twice a month, a great place to meet people and walk the dogs. It could be a trip to the beach. 📍Day 1: Page, AZ This is our second or third(?) time going through Page and this trip took us to a new (free) overlook, Lake Powell, and a mini Cosmic Ashtray. Lake Powell is a weird place because on one hand you have people with million dollar yachts sitting on wooden blocks in the desert because this man-made lake is drying up and on the other it’s a really interesting and alien landscape with a lot of really cool rock formations.
