Meet Boone! 🐾 Boone came to us yesterday after Animal Control found him tied to a tree near the woods. I’m sure his owners didn’t know how to care for him or want to spend the money on his medical treatment, but people need to understand that there are better ways of relinquishing ownership than tying your dog up where coyotes could have easily gotten to him. 😖 He’s lucky he was found when he was. Boone is an absolute doll. He is not showing any symptoms of neurological issues, he is eating and acting like a normal puppy, and he has a great personality. He is not in any pain and the lump is not bothering him at all. But we need to figure out what it is! We took him to our vet today and she did an ultrasound. The lump is soft, but doesn’t seem to be fluid-filled so Doc wants us to bring him back tomorrow for a CT scan. This should tell us more about the tissue inside the lump so we know how to proceed. These two are 7 month old pitbull mix brother and sister who had a very rough start to life. They were found together as strays in Plainfield, NJ and sent off with animal control. Sadly, they were two of the dogs we rescued from the Mahwah Cruelty case. They have been through so much in their short 7 months on earth but you would never know it when you meet either of them. They are both happy, super sweet, extra cuddly nuggets. They both are a little scared of some things as they adjust to life in foster care but, are gaining confidence every single day!! Both were extremely starved and underweight due to malnutrition but in 6 weeks of foster care we’ve seen so much progress and weight gain!! Both may always be on the smaller side, due to malnutrition, but are otherwise 100% healthy! Both have been absolutely great with kids, other dogs and can be cat tested. They are looking for their forever homes and can’t wait to find the perfect families to love them forever and treat them like the pop royalty we know they are!! ❗️PHOENIX UPDATE❗️ Sweet little Phoenix had his MRI with Dr. Glass at @redbankvet Red Bank Veterinary Hospital and he was diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus. This is a birth defect where there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the skull commonly known as "water on the brain". We have started him on steroids to help decrease the production of cerebral spinal fluid. His case is considered mild-moderate and many dogs born with this condition are often able to live happy and fulfilling lives. Plus, Phoenix is full of joy and zest for life, so we know he is determined to grow old with a loving family! What does he need now? Phoenix is looking for a FOSTER or ADOPTER. He is a growing boy who will benefit from socialization and exploration of the world around him. He is in that critical socialization window so ideally, a good rule of thumb has always been to make sure a puppy interacts positively with 100 people, 100 dogs and 100 experiences by the time they hit four months. Since he will be a big pittie boy, we know helping him become well socialized is so important and such a responsible thing to do!
