I literally just finished this but am loving it so here it is! A lady at church who always comments on my clothes asked if I could teach her daughter some sewing this school holidays. We picked a simple skirt, and I cut this orange random fabric as her toile. Turns out she loves orange and wanted to keep it. Since it was not wearable and see through I unpicked it and redid it. I had so much fun with her I got inspired and decided to use this other random bit of orange gingham to make her a reversible skirt! She comes tomorrow to make her real thing and doesn’t know about this so I hope she likes it! And of course it has pockets on both sides. I LOVE the gingham side! Pattern: a hacked #seamworkjenna by @seamwork. Adjustments: instead of inseam pockets we have used my absolute favourite pockets from the #springejumpsuit by @sewlovepatterns in her toile. For the gingham side I just made patch pockets on the bias for a cool pattern. Sadly the front skirt of the gingham is in 4 pieces (plus pockets), bit it’s not too noticeable. #patterntetris. For the gingham side I omitted the center back seam as I cannot figure out what purpose it has 🤷🏻♀️. I did a rolled hem to join everything together at the bottom. My ancient @janome #janomeoverlocker does a beautiful job. Fabric: Orange is something, maybe broadcloth, that I got for some unknown reason many many many years ago from @spotlightstores. 38 days to 45: Saturdays Since the lockdown, it has been nice to spend Saturdays actually relaxing at home. We have no games to attend or practices to go to. Most of the time we just watch movies and play games. I try to avoid social media. Saturdays are Pancakes and Pizza day. My husband does all the cooking so it is really a big day off for me. The kids get to pick a movie in the morning and then normally get electronics in the afternoon. I usually wake up early and head to the beach. It is fun watching the sunrise and seeing how the water changes once the sun hits it. Now it is starting to rise earlier than I want to get up, but I am happy just to get some alone time. This last Saturday, my husband and I went on our first date in over two years. We gave the kids their electronics and went to lunch. It may just become our thing to do on Saturdays now. I am hoping with the sports season back in session, that our Saturdays keep their slow rhythms. New obsession at the moment. Projects 2 and 3 down! Did a reversable skirt from @made_everyday ... it was quite the learning experience, but the results were highly satisfying and addicting!
