Last weekend, we ventured out of Antalya to explore some of the Turkish Riviera. First stop: Fethiye and surrounds. Photos 1: The abandoned Greek village of Kayaköy consists of a few hundred houses, churches, schools, and several chapels. It was abandoned in 1923 as its Greek inhabitants were required to leave by the population exchange between Greece and Turkey after their war. As to be expected, 100 years later, nature is reclaiming the area. Photos 2-3: The Amyntas Rock Tombs were built in the 4th century BC by the Lycians (more on them in a future post given their vast influence in the area). These tombs overlook the city of Fethiye and its bay. Photos 4-6: Nearby Ölüdeniz is a mecca for paragliding, and one of the best places in the world to do it. You launch from a mountain about 2000 metres high and glide over the turquoise-coloured sea and picturesque Blue Lagoon bay. HISTORIC AL ULA The rock tombs of the Nabataeans in the rain - not everyone has pictures like this! 😉 Unfortunately, the legacy of this 2000-year-old civilization in Hegra (Madein Saleh) can only be visited on a guided bus tour. That’s not our style at all. But in rain and storm - weather that hardly anyone expects here - the bus ride alone was an experience in itself! Al Ula also has a lot to offer historically. The old town of mud houses is currently being extensively restored. A stylish promenade already invites to stroll and eat out. And those who climb the stairs to the castle ruins will be rewarded with a magnificent view. One thing becomes very clear: Al Ula is continuing to „upgrade“ for upper-class tourism. The area in the north-west of Saudi Arabia really does have everything that makes a tourist magnet. Magnificent scenery, history, stable weather (usually!) The rest is created with money - upmarket accommodation, fine restaurants, attractions for action & adventure. Myra Kaya mezarları; MÖ. 5. ve 4.yüzyıllarla tarihlenmektedir. Lykia ev tipi ahşap mimari taklit edilerek, aynı mimari taşa uyarlanarak kaya mezarları yapılmıştır. Antik dünyada ölümden sonraki hayat düşüncesiyle insanlar hem bu kaya mezarlarıyla sonsuzluğu yakalamak istemişler hem de Anadolu da ana tanrıçayı temsil eden ana kayaya mezarlarını yaparak ana tanrıçanın bağrına gömülerek ölümsüzleşmeyi istemişlerdir. Doğu, batı ve Güney nekropollerinde toplamda 104 adet mezar bulunmaktadır. Mezar odaları genellikle tektir. Nekropoldeki Dört mezar ise birden fazla mezar odasına sahiptir. Kaya mezarlarının 10’u nitelikleri ve ölü gömme gelenekleriyle ilgili bilgiler veren ikonografileri açısından önemli olan 23 adet kabartma yer alır. 1.resimde kaya mezarının çatı kısmında iki tane asker kabartması görülmektedir. Mezarlardan 23 tanesi yazıtlı olup, yazıtlar Likçe ve eski Yunancadır. Nişanyan Kaya Mezarı – Şirince/SELÇUK Kimilerine göre “yaratıcı”, devlete göre ise “sorun yaratıcı” bir kişilik olan Sevan Nişanyan Nesin köyü yakınlarındaki Kayzerdağı’na Likya kaya mezarlarına benzer kaya mezarı yaptırmıştı. Bir hafta sonu gezimizde Selatin Köyü’ndeki Anıt Ağaç’a bakan köy kahvesinde simit peynir eşliğinde kahvaltı yaptıktan sonra (foto2) dağ yolundan Şirince’ye gittik. Şirince’ye yaklaştığımızda uzaktan dağa oyulmuş kaya mezarını gördük.(foto3) Stabilize bir yoldan araç ile mezarın yakınlarına kadar gelip patika yoldan biraz yürüyerek kaya mezarına ulaştık.(foto4) Kaya Mezarı yargı, bürokrasi ve Kültür Bakanlığı'nın itiraz ve baskılara rağmen, 3 yıl süren inşası tamamlanıp, 2012 yılında Nişanyan tarafından törenle açıldı. Mezar inşaatında Selatin Tünelinde çalışmış 3 amele bir yıl süreyle dağdaki kaba yontu işini yaptılar. Çekiç, keski ve spiral kesici gücüyle kaya oyuldu. Bir mermer ustası bir de alaylı heykeltıraş ise ince işleri yaptılar. Süreçte Devlet bürokrasisi engel olmaya çalıştıysa da, mevzuatta konuya ilişki bir yasak maddesi bulamadılar. Orman idaresi ormanda “her çeşit bina ve ağıl inşası, tarla açılması, yerleşilmesi yasaktır.” Dedi ve hapis cezası verdiler. Nişanyan “ bina yapmıyorum, tarla açmıyorum” diyerek, işine devam etti. “Yapı ruhsatsız!” diyerek Özel idare mühürledi, “Yaptığım iş ruhsata tabi değil ki!” diyerek mühürü söktü. Özel idare “Haklısınız, hata yapmışız, yapılan iş ruhsata tabi değilmiş.” Dedi ama bu seferde resmi mühürü sökmekten hapis cezasına çarptırıldı. Sonra mezarın yapıldığı Kayzerdağı, koruma kurulu tarafından arkeolojik sit alanı ilan edildi. İzinsiz restorasyon yaptığı için daha önce de hapis yatan Nişanyan Sit alanı Şirince’de izinsiz İnşaatları nedeniyle 10 yıla varan hapis cezasına çarptırıldı.. 2017 de cezaevinden firar ederek yurt dışına kaçtı. Nişanyan firarını, sosyal medyadan "Kuş uçtu. Day 213 Mosquitoes plague in December, that only happens here in Turkey🙃 In the morning what felt like 100 mosquitoes attacked me while I was having breakfast. After surviving the attack we went to Dalyan. To do this we had to board a small boat that took us to the other side. Dylan is a small village located in the middle of beautiful mountains and forests. The shops and restaurants were already closed due to the end of the season ----------------------------- Mücken plage am Dezember, dass gibt es auch nur hier in der Türkei🙃 Am Morgen gleich mal von gefühlt 100 Mücken attackiert beim Frühstück machen. Nachdem überstanden Angriff ging es für uns nach Dalyan. Hierfür musste wir ein kleines Boot besteigen, das uns auf die andere Seite brachte. Dylan ist ein kleines Dorf in mitten schöner Berge und Wälder gelegen. Süleyman Kulesi ve Kaya Mezarları – YUMURTALIK ilçe Merkezine 2 km uzaklıktaki yapıyı Kanuni Sultan Süleyman gözetleme kulesi olarak yaptırmış. Eski çağlarda Yumurtalık (Ayas) önemli bir ticaret limanıydı. Kule, limana baskın yapacak korsanlara karşı erken uyarı amacıyla inşa edilmiş. Bina beşgen planlı olup, dar gözlem pencereleri bulunmakta. Piri Reis haritalarında bu kuleyi ve bulunduğu yeri işaretlemiş. Restore edilen kulenin alt tarafındaki falezlerde ise tarihi kaya mezarları var. Helenistik dönemde buranın bir Nekropol alanı olduğu düşünülmekte. Bu bölgedeki turu tamamlayınca Yumurtalık ilçe merkezine doğru yola çıktık. Yol üzerindeki Zeytinbeli Plajı gibi yörenin populer plajlarına da uğradık.
