It’s day 3 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I have fully ascended to my final form in my @sewliberated #studiotunic. I feel like this is giving quirky art teacher vibes and I am very here for it. Pockets big enough for my kindle and dog treats and anything else I might ever need. Plus an extra wee phone pocket. I am truly in love. As with all the Sew Liberated patterns I’ve made, the finishing is absolutely beautiful - very pretty guts. This divine @merchantandmills linen is from @patchhalifax. I only had a metre and a half, which ended up being the perfect amount. I sized this pattern down (to a 12 - I’m about 37/30/43 or so) and shortened it 3” at the lengthen/shorten line (I’m 5’4). This is view B with the scoop neck. I did a very nice job pattern matching, if I do say so myself. I tried not to be too perfectionist about it, which is my natural tendency. The colours in the fabric match with most of my wardrobe and I do so love to colour coordinate! 😍 I’ve got some fun canvas to make another one of these - the practicality is really unmatched. Another awesome pattern by @jalie_patterns! These are the Zoom Joggers and I'm very pleased with them. Made in a black cotton french terry, these will be a staple in my wardrobe for sure. It's hard to tell, but they have some really neat pockets - that are surprisingly useful and deep - and a yoke back piece that minimizes some bulk above my bum that I usually have with pants. I tried a flat butt adjustment for the first time and I'm glad I did. Still have some drag lines in the back so I might try a low butt adjustment too. Getting the back of pants to fit right is a struggle, am I right?! I lengthened the legs by 3" in two spots to accomodate my height. The pockets were a lot of steps but it felt really satisfying when I turned them right side out and saw the finished product! I'm always looking to remix materials that are already in my stash (ahem, my webshop inventory), and so for this month's fabric drop, I used the Retro Florals allover stretch lace fabric in Apple Green with some of the new elastics, lining fabrics, and notions from the Spring Folly Collection to sew this gooooorgeous and comfortable set 😍 This set has sold surprisingly quickly! At the moment, I can only make one more, so be quick if you've got your eye on it 👀 (although I still have this fabric in black or white too!) I used the Watson pattern from Cloth Habit for the top and an upcoming Small Bobbins pattern for the bottoms. This Aria twist top was a super fun and surprisingly easy sew! Because I'm a little extra 🤪, I made two versions — one at the original waist length, and one where I lengthened the bodice by 3" so I could wear it with a wider variety of pant rises (i.e., I d̶o̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶a̶l̶w̶a̶y̶s̶ rarely want to show my navel 🫣). I opted for the tank version with the low neck, but this would be great with sleeves, too (and sleeves are included in the pattern)! This is the #wildwoodvest by @helens__closet. I've been wanting to make a quilted vest for a long time. It's a dupe of the quilted gilet by Sarah Johnson which I think is so lovely. The outside is a linen from Etsy, and I used a navy poplin for the lining. The inner layer consists of 2 layers of cotton batting. Kia ora e hoa mā ❤️ so this week I was doing a spot of coasteering (leaping off to rocks into the ocean) for work and found myself slightly chilly afterwards. I've been looking for a recycled polar fleece hoodie in the opshops but haven't had any luck. Not a huge fan of sewing polar fleece but @spotlightstores had this lovely rainbow snuggly fleece on sale. I used 1.9m and made the raglan #hummingbirdhoodie by @thesewingrevival . I added a pocket and the hood. I used rainbow ric rac doubled over for the hoodie ties. Still deciding whether to add some fringing along the exposed hoodie seam - but maybe less is more? Today managed to climb to 24 degree's thanks to a nor'wester, but I'm sure as winter arrives I'll get lots of use out of it ❄️☁️🌧️ 😁

More upcycled duvet cover action: an adorable linen #donnyshirt (pattern from #fridaypatterncompany last summer…I’m about a year behind, as usual 😂) This was such a fun make and the video sewalong on the blog is super helpful. I’m thinking this is my best shirt collar yet. Also, I cropped the length by an inch and did my typical forward shoulder adjustment…very happy with how it turned out. Loving the boxy silhouette, no buttonholes and gathers at the back yoke. All my boxy tops are so good with my stash of mended jeans and this one fits right in. I may end up overdyeing it someday but for now will enjoy its oatmealy wholesomeness. There is still more duvet cover yardage and Tom really wants a summer shirt, so a #cameronbuttonup will be coming soon! Scrappy topper 🪡 Last week, lovely Helen @whitewoodandlinen hosted a 3 day stitch-along workshop on Instagram live, showing us how to make wonderful little toppers using tiny scraps of fabric and a few simple stitches. She presented everything so beautifully and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of putting my picture together. Not having much in the way of green fabrics I added some frayed green string into the grass section, and couldn’t resist incorporating a bit of cotton wool clouds into the sky. I considered adding rain to keep it realistic, but decided we’ve actually got more than enough of that in our skies at the moment, so left the picture dry. 🌼🌺🌸 Taking inspiration from our garden in the spring I added forget-me-nots, poppies, daisies and a very tiny (or perhaps just far away?) blossom tree. 🕊️🐝 The final night was particularly fun as we had a whole session on the birds and the bees! Can you see all the creatures enjoying my scrappy garden? Helen also showed us how to make sheep, but our neighbour vetoed those for our garden, so I left them out this time. ✨ If you’d like to have a go at making scrappy toppers, Helen has very kindly shared all 3 workshop sessions to her feed, so you can easily get all the details there. I know I’ll be carefully saving all my fabric scraps and making plenty more of these in time to come!

The Leann Marshall cape coat, @simplicity_creative_group 1254, is the most difficult thing I’ve sewn in the recent past @closetcorepatterns. Between clarity in pattern instructions and not having lined a coat before I really struggled. Ultimately I persevered *read, called my mother A LOT, and like how the coat turned out.
