Mersel wine Phoenix Merwah, Skin-Contact, 2021 - This is a grape indigenous to Lebanon called “Merwah”from the region of Dimane, Qannboubine Valley in the Northern part of Lebanon. It’s fermented in stainless tanks and amphoras, and fermented on the skins for 3 weeks. The temperature at the winery reaches -5 degrees celsius or 23 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter allowing for natural cold stabilization of the wine. Their wines are made naturally with little to no sulfites, unfiltered and unfined. This wine shows an abundance of rich apricot, a bit of oxidative funk which personally is my favorite and a nice balance of acidity. @merselwine @merselwine I personally love skin contact wines, and the 1st time I tried a Lebanese wine was in Malaysia at a Lebanese restaurant in 2014, I was hooked.
