In its youth, this elixir was almost undrinkable, but now, after almost 20 years, the 2006 Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Kellerberg from F.X Pichler is much more harmonious and impresses with notes of peach jam, dried mango, candied orange zest, beeswax, and ginger. Highly intense, piquant, rich, and viscous on the palate, this is a very round and well focused TBA with an ultra-long and powerful finish. The acidity is just high enough to buffer the massive extract sweetness. As I prefer to drink such wines after 30 or 40 years, I see further potential in this excellent wine. 94+ NP, drink now-2050+

Although young, this bottle is bursting with flavour, filled with fruit and oaky flavours. This bottle was the highlight of the night, paired beautifully with a charcuterie board! 🧀🥂🍇 and the cork is a fine touch! WINEMAKER NOTES ℹ️ The 2022 vintage has reached a whole new level, displaying an incredible depth of flavour without over-the-top richness. Nectarine and white peach notes are there, though more subtle than usual. Filling that space is a fine citrus line, transitioning on the palate into ethereal creamy notes: the essence of complex Chardonnay. These reach all corners, lasting on the palate much longer than they have any given right to. Lower than average yields, careful stirring of the lees, 40% whole bunch and subtle changes to Picardy’s impressive oak regime all contribute to the story. The remainder can be put down to a vintage that had the sun thrown over it, enabling this seductive and thrilling Chardonnay to blossom. Picardy Chardonnay is made from equal portions of the four preferred clones 76, 95, 96 and 277 (selected by the University of Dijon) to achieve complexity. The Pannells are looking towards the great white wines of the old world for inspiration and look to make a Chardonnay with floral characters, citrus fruits and minerality with good structure and texture. Excellent fruit intensity, structure, pH to acid relationship and fine-grained tannins guarantee long life and excellent bottle development. ⛈️⛈️ It’s been pretty stormy lately but this hearty combo helped us weather through it! 2021 Andremily Mourvèdre ➕Spanish-style lamb stew. The wine showed notes of cherries, blueberries, dark chocolate, vanilla; dense weight balanced with M+ acidity. It did take quite a few hours (3~ hrs) to open up. Then the fruits became more mellow and oak notes got blended in better. 2018 Cullen Wines “Grace Madeline”, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. From the Cullen Vineyard, 60% SB, 40% Sem. The SB component spends 3 months in 75% new French oak. Just starting to develop those aged, waxy lanolin characters, also some stone fruit and some sweaty complexity, wet stones. The palate has lovely balance and glide, good acid. A savoury, wet rock minerality and a just right touch of textured grip. Smokey, slatey and steely. Brine, lemon and white flowers. This is a beautiful wine with great scope for further improvement. This will be singing in 5+ years. Such a refined wine. Hints of tropical fruit and a herbal undertow emerge with warming, but these are just supporting layers to the main act outlined above.
