Finally catching up with social media after being in a recording booth for most of April working hard on my Florida Sunshine album! I had such a blast last month performing with my Florida Sunshine Band for @yelpsandiego 's Yelp in Bloom event at the @the_flower_fields!! I think to be an artist is to be constantly striving. Songwriting Tip: The fastest way to improve as a songwriter is to write as many songs (or songwriting ideas) as possible. Even if you don’t want anyone to ever hear those songs. I call this exercise: “writing for the waste basket”. Write your first 100 bad songs as fast as possible. Here is what this does for you: - it builds your experience muscle as a songwriter. (It’s been said that: “experience is what you get instead of the thing you wanted”.) This helps you to write songs faster in the future. - you build a pool of songwriting ideas you can use (and reuse) many times in future songs. You won’t use every idea in a song (even if the idea is good). SHOUTING IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS If you've been following along I have a new song out called Love Is A Ghost. I'm super proud of this song and very thankful for @tyfighterpilot 's hard work in making this tune work. I threw a lot of different ideas at him and we got something I think you all will resonate with. As I said before this is the first song off a new album I'm working on. Its a project of me processing the last couple years. What life was like, my beliefs, and things I've learned from and grown out of. I draw from a lot of different influences musically and kind of speak from a fantastical perspective while trying to keep things rooted and grounded in my current reality.
