There are a minimum of three plants in Southampton's city centre parks that are seriously emitting fragrances right now. This photo only shows two of them, but yesterday at work, their smells kept hitting me like a tonne of bricks, and from quite a distance away. I am extremely sensitive to smells, and when you work outside, it's sometimes hard to avoid having to walk past these plants π€£π€·ββοΈ I feel like this has happened earlier this year than in previous years but as I haven't kept a record I can't confirm for sure. These colourful panels stretch across an impressive 19 meters and measures 3 meters tall. βοΈ Fun in the sun βοΈ On Tuesday we stopped to meet friends at Southampton Common. Loads of free parking is provided right outside which was great when travelling with 2 small toddlers and all their things. It was a great park with a variety of climbing equipment, some water pumps to play with, and best of all it was covered in sand. There was a small kiosk in the park where you could get drinks, some hot food, snacks and ice cream. The kids had a blast and the weather was great. Did you know that Blechynden Gardens is one of the last remaining World War II sites in Southampton? π€ It was originally the site of Emperia Buildings, a warehouse built in 1905 which was later bombed in World War II during the Blitz of Southampton. π The site was later converted into the gardens seen today, where part of the old warehouse still remains. The Blechynden Arch was later added in 2018. π The park is located near Southampton Central Train station π
